View 1 RepliesI'm trying to dynamically draw out an isometric grid but I'm hitting a few problems, currently I'm using a matrix transformation to get the grid to look more isometric that tile based but it has it's problems so I want to add the grid with out using the matrix transformations. currently I have..
[Code]....
I tried to draw it out using Sin ,Cos and Tan functions to try to set the coordinates but it didn't behave like I had expected,
a very simple, basic question (unfortunetely I forgot this): how can you generate markers in flash?, in a frame in the timeline.
View 1 RepliesI need to set multiple measurement markers in my Flash app. It measures distance between them.
The problem I'm experiencing is that I can not refer to MC that I create at runtime with createEmptyMovieClip. It's got a name "marker1_mc". Then I need to create secont with name "marker2_mc". They're created fine but I cannot refer to their methods to draw a marker line. I can draw line only if I'm creating only one movie and refering to it's methods. How can I add more marker pairs to calculate more than one distance?
values.markers[markerNum] = new Array();
values.markers[markerNum].markerStartX = markerStartX;
values.markers[markerNum].markerStartY = markerStartY;
values.markers[markerNum].markerName = "markerLine"+markerNum+"_mc";

With the Google Maps Flash API, I want to add an event listener which fires when the Marker is added to the Map using
map.addOverlay();
Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE
is not fired, though it seems logical. What are the alternatives?
Am updating a 2D game I made to have an isometric view, problem is am having issues when converting the 2d coordinates of given movieclips into isometric ones. The way I converted my game into an isometric one is just by rotating rectangular graphic 45 degrees and increasing its width such that its 2 times the height.I having problems converting all my 2D coordinates into isometric ones.Is there a function to convert them, or a mathematical formula I could use? by the way the game am making is not tile based, so functions that use tiles to convert the coordinates are not going to work unfortunately.
EDIT: I managed to fix it, I just changed the alignment to be the upper left corner, i.e. though the game is isometric and has a demimonde shape, I imagined that it is contained in a box, and that box's upper left edge is where it is aligned...this way both x and y coordinates r the same ones in both 2D and "isometric" view.
I would like to know if its possible to create an isometric animation in flash like the example below. In case I want to create an isometric figure like the first two objects shown and by mouseover they should lift up to the last figure shown. Its no problem to create the basic figures with Photopshop, but I dont know how to animate them in flash cs5.
View 12 RepliesI want to do a z-sorting for an isometric game via i,j, sizeI and sizeJ of the objects, and not the x/y values. I don't plan on using z axis.
I have searched google a lot and only sorting via x/y comes up. Thus I have come, like always to Kirupa to ask for help and guidance.
If I failed to put some crucial detail to the problem don't be afraid to ask for it, I am in dire need of help
Any open source programs or any other software that can create isometric buildings that are compatible with flash (i.e. being able to manipulate the individual layers like that of an imported Adobe Illustrator file)?
View 1 RepliesI need to build a website with a virtual 3D world. I found a few products that can do it but I want so advise on which ones are leading the pack with the brightest futures. So far TheoWorlds and OpenSpace show some promise.
View 1 Replies1) Is an isometric engine used to render the world in social games. If yes, can you guide me somewhere where I can learn how to use it.
2) Also, how are the houses, buildings, farms and other objects placed via drag and drop. Is there any tutorial for that?
I'm trying to generate an isometric grid via code using kirupa's tutorial but it's not quite working correctly as I'm trying to convert it. I am trying to generate a 5 x 5 grid with a unique coordinate to each square, but I can only get a row to form with the coordinates showing x = 5 and y = 5 for each square of the single row. There is also an unclickable square in the corner. Here is my code:

I am working on a map for my company and have been using some tutorials and sample code I've found. All has been going well until I try to use an original marker. When I add the line of code into the marker object the map draws a blank.
so, this code works fine and uses the default marker when using the line below.
var m:Marker = new Marker(new LatLng(33.38298626887102, -86.67185000000000)); map.addOverlay(m);
But when I add the suggested code pasted below from Layers Magazine for adding an original marker, which is a movie clip in my library names 'marker', the map no longer works.

I am trying to make an object tween from its starting location to the location of a mouse click. I have a script, but it has a very annoying ease to it.I would LIKE the object to mantain a certain speed during while traveling from its starting location to the mouse click location.
View 16 RepliesI created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?
View 13 RepliesHow do I apply AS3 mouseevent to the Markers?
ActionScript Code:
GEvent.addListener(marker, "mouseover", function() {markerClick()});
function markerClick():void {
trace("You clicked the map.");
}
I'm having an issue to display markers into google map. I use XML to parse those markers.
**Flash gives me that error msg:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.However I can see Latitude and Longitude display while traced them...
Code:
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;[code]....
I am changing over one of my projects from google maps to yahoo maps and was wondering who out there has experience with the yahoo maps api. Below you will see the code i was using with the google maps api to create custom markers using a library item as that marker. The library asset has some variables that need to be defined as you will see in the first part of my for loop. and this function needs to clear all the previously created overlays, before the for loop is run.

Im trying to make a object only appear when you have collect enough coins. How could i do this?
View 2 RepliesIntelliJ displays yellow markers in the scrollbar on the right for warnings. Is there a way to disable warnings or just the yellow markers in the scrollbar?Follow-up: The file in question is from Adobe Flex SDK 4.1 frameworks/projects/framework/src/mx/controls/listClasses/ListBase.as. I have all inspections disabled. I've also disabled the JavaScript Intention Power Pack plugin. I have Highlighting Level set to None. With all this I still see warnings.
View 2 RepliesI am using Eclipse to work on a large Flex project. Whenever I have an error in an actionscript file, it shows nothing in the "Flex Errors" section of Markers but when I open the file that has the error it shows a question mark next to the line where the error actually is.Is there a way to show these questions marks in the markers section of Eclipse?
View 1 RepliesIn my Flex project, can I add markers by its address instead of this:var myGeographicCoordinates:LatLng = new LatLng(myLatitude, myLongitude);for example add marker by "Paris, France"
View 2 RepliesI have made multiple markers via javascript, but trying to do the same in actionscript is proving to be quite challenging.I am using googles directions to retrieve a LatLng to add markers, but it's only returning one marker. Either the first or the second.Within my init function are the markers address array and call to return LatLng from directions. Basically placing the start and end as the same to place the marker.
markers = ['11030 Hartsook st, North Hollywood, CA','15713 Ventura blvd, Encino, CA'];
for (var i:Number = 0; i < markers.length; ++i) {
from.text=markers[i];[code]......
I had this same issue when I created an application using google's javascript API and the solution was to have closure on the callback function creating the multiple markers.I can not seem to find an example for making multiple custom markers, with anything other than using some random math function to create the multiple markers.
GlobalVars is a class that contains static public var types to keep up with however many addressess, lats, lngs, etc...I have tried using markermanager but it has some issues that I finally just gave up on. Starting with
retrieveLatLngAddress.addEventListener(GeocodingEvent.GEOCODING_SUCCESS, function(event:GeocodingEvent):void{
This is where I begin geocoding by address, rather than using an httpservice, as I was doing before, but I ran into issues of one httpservice result would return faster than another, which would in turn place the wrong data with the wrong marker.
Obviously, I have not found a solution, because this way is doing the same thing.Question being, how can I retrieve multiple markers info and keep all the markeroptions in order with the information being returned.
Here's the code:
public function makeMultipleMarkers(destinationAllObj:Object):void {
removeRouteMarkers();
myMarkers = [];
GlobalVars.myIcon = [];
[code]....
I want in my application show multiple markers on google map .only address of the city or country is provided but without latitude and longitude of the city

View 8 RepliesHow would I go about using CopyPixels to build an isometric map? CopyPixels takes a specific rectangle and copies that onto a bitmap.. But how would one use that to build a seamless isometric map?Building a square top-down tiled map would be very simple as copypixels pastes each tile next to one another.. But for Isometric Maps, this would be different as some parts of the CopyPixels rectangle is over lapped into other tiles.. and this would 'erase' the bitmap of the other tiles currently on the bitmap..[URL]Fig2, is what happens when you try to do a copyPixel over an existing bitmap, assuming the white is transparent space.

code:

I've been reading a bunch of the tutorials about using isometric in flash but they all seem to have one thing in common. They all use the arrow keys for movement. I've been trying to use the mouse for movement but have only met with frustration so far. I can get the movement to work but then the object collision on the tiles doesn't work or vise versa.
View 2 RepliesUsing a matrix I'm tyring to turn a square into an isometric tile by skewing it upwards (y -30) and skewing it to the right (x + 60). This does giv the desired angles but the sides of the square are stretched and become incongruent. Is there some way to lock the sides from stretching when skewed with a matrix? Pictures speak loouder than words, the shape on the right is what I get and below it shows what I want: [URL]
