Nov 4, 2011I have a load file and a write to file method. We all know what they do. How ever load always returns true and write always returns false....Right there you know somethings wrong. Because The forums have an issue with me posting code...I posted it here: [URL] Based on this code what is the issue here? why is write always returning false and why is load always returning true? (even for files that do not exist). My understanding is that if flash cannot find the file it should write to it will create it and if it cant load said file, then that method should return false.

May 27, 2004I'm trying to write a script that will move a mc in a figure 8, kinda like the way that water flows from side to side inside a container... flowing in one direction and rising, then hitting the wall and ebbing as it flows back the other way... slowing down over time To say that I'm not that mathematically inclined is an understatement, but i think it can be done using trigonometry, like sin and cos...??
I found this page on here - [URL]- this is similar to what i want to do, except when the clip passes the center to move away in a figure eight and then back, instead of just going around in a circle. And i think i want the mc to come to rest in the middle over time, so the figure eight is gradually reducing in size.
There's also a method that looks like it could be adapted to do what i want using elasticity -[URL], bottom example. i've put up a page on my site with a bit of a visual representation of what i want it to do:[URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu Navigation System - Dropdown Appears And Returns When The Dropdown Returns
Jul 15, 2004I'm having with a menu navigation system. I'm using Flash MX. I have created a menu system for the site I'm building ([URL]) where one of the buttons "Choose photographer" drops down a list of names. All the other buttons just jump to another page. The drop down is currently using tweens also the logo moves to the left as the dropdown appears and returns when the dropdown returns. All working fine apart from its a bit jerky.
It's I just wanted to get away from tweening and use action scripts instead, as I'm a newbie to all things Flash I trawled the net for tutorials and examples so that I could cobble together the exact same effect. I have managed to get the drop down work and return using the action script and it does seem smoother and works slightly better. But can I get the logo to move to the left and back in time with the drop down...no.
ActionScript 2.0 :: Play First Frame As Intro Then Loop Second One (to Infinity)
Mar 6, 2009I made a 2 frame flash. The first frame has a container that holds the movie clip, masks, audio & transitions for the intro. This frame I only want to play once. Then I want it to advance to frame 2 upon completion. Frame two is a leader/score board that will hold score tallies (it is linked to a TXT file that is linked to an ASP, which has not been completed yet), and therefore, it needs to loop into infinity. When I have the FLA open and I press CTL + Enter the intro plays then automatically advanced to the 2nd frame which loops to infinity.
(This is perfect -- this is how I want it to perform). When I go to the folder where the SWF and EXE are published, and I double clidk to open either one of them up, the intro keeps looping and never advances to the 2nd frame. I have to manually press next frame on the pull down menu -- and that is not feasible since this leaderboard will inevitably end up on a big monitor with an audience. ActionScript 3.0 :: Lower Boundary Doesn't Work / Panel Continues To Scroll Into Infinity
Aug 12, 2009Trying to recode a scrolling thumbnail panel I found as an example of the web into AS3 mostly for educational purposes but getting stuck in a couple of places. The panel works but my problems are:
1) lower boundary doesn't work, panel continues to scroll into infinity.
2) as it is written, the mouse event that activates the scrolling is MOUSE_MOVE, which is kind of a pain as the scrolling is kind of "jerky", I have tried to make it an MOUSE_OVER event, but I think it may be conflicting with the prior MOUSE_OVER event.[code]

It might be possible in some alternate universe, but here on earth, I should get a result of 99.9... I'm really hoping one of you can explain to me why Flash returns that result, cause really, I'm at a loss here... this line:

I made sure the values are the correct ones, plus the traces confirm that the first time, it equals 66.6 and the second time it equals 33.3. So really, I don't understand how it can return this... monster of a result .
ActionScript 3.0 :: Flex Mindmap Tooltips - Set HideDelay To Infinity So The Tooltips Don't Disappear?
Mar 18, 2010I am trying to adapt Ruben Sweringa's Flex-based interactive mindmap [URL] and I've got most of it sussed out. I'm just having a little difficulty with the tooltips and I was hoping someone/some people might be willing to help me out or offer some guidance on these three things:
1) How and where do I set hideDelay to Infinity so the tooltips don't disappear? I think that because Ruben's model uses FXCToolTip and FXCHTMLToolTip to extend ToolTip and ToolTipManager, if I try to modify ToolTipManager.hideDelay in the mxml, the value is ignored.
2) Is there a way to enable HTML formatting in the tool tips? FXCHTMLToolTip looks like it's supposed to read this code, but whenever I add such coding, Flex says "Error: XML is invalid" and the whole mindmap fails.

Javascript :: AJAX Call That Returns Flash Video?
Mar 2, 2010I have an AJAX web service call that returns a chunk of HTML that I then apply to a DIV element on my page.This works fine for any html element except a flash video which comes up with 'Movie not loaded'.I've double-checked the html that is being returned and it's all fine, and it works if I don't use AJAX, but when I use AJAX and then add it using JS it doesn't seem to attempt to load the playlist.

From inside the Flash application I would like to install the sibling AIR App. Adobe has provided an air.swf (which is also used in the Badge sample) to aid us with the install. I've managed to mimic the behavior of the Badge app butgetApplicationVersion always returns null. Note that I do not have a publisherId. Flex :: Flash Player Only Returns The Domain Name Of The User's Machine?
Nov 19, 2011I have developed a flex application (Flex 4.5.1).I want the flex application to be used only by the domain names that I allow. As soon as the application is loaded, I check with the remote database if the domain name is valid.
The problem is that flash player only returns the domain name of the user's machine. What I want is the domain name of the website that the flex application is part of. For instance, if the webpage I browse for my flash application is[url]...., I need [url]...or [url].... Is that possible? Every method I have tried only returns the name of the website visitor's computer.

MCmenu is a button array,
MCtext is a collection of text with frame labels. It's labeled as MCtext
The menu buttons tell MCtext to play the frame label as the button clicked. This *used to work*, but Flash was laggy as hell so I updated it. Now the same code returns #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at MCmenu/itemClicked()

Feb 3, 2011I have a swf file "website.swf" on my desktop computer, in the www directory of my wamp server. The website loads the swf file fine.I have one textbox that i want to be able to load all the different contents of my site depending on the page, and in the same directory, I have all the different txt files (i.e. news.txt about.txt portfolio.txt etc)Now, when I'm running the swf file in Flash CS5, it makes me allow it and then works fine. However, once I publish and put it on the server, and then go to the website it returns "Error 2048". I've tried doing the crossdomain.xml suggestions to no avail.

Feb 5, 2007I have a flash file, and in it is a movieclipbutton. When you roll over the button, the button has to grow in size and change color. This animation is 10 frames long. When you roll out, the button goes back to it's original size and color, this animation is also 10 frames. But when you roll out of the button before the 10 frames of roll over animation are finished, the movie jumps to the rollout animation, which starts with the button in grown size; so you see a little jump in size. To fix this, I did the following for the onRollOut:

Sep 15, 2009I just started working on a preloader screen that includes a preloader mask over a logo and a percentage dynamic text. I can get either or to work but not both at the same time. I notice that if I remove stop(); I can get the percentage to work but not the preloader image. With the stop(); embedded the image preloader works but the percentage doesn't.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Carriage Returns In XML Attributes?

I don't have access to change the schema.
In Flash I load the text content of the title attribute into a text field, problem is -- the prints instead of operating as a carriage return (new line).
Again, no access to the XML so changing the TextField to htmlText and adding a <br/> tag wont work.
