sorting out an XML file, what I have is a tooltip that loads in via XML and exported from flash. the XML loads in 2 text fields, field and field2. what I am trying to do is add a button also to the tooltip so that you can click and go to a url.

View 1 RepliesI have tooltips in flex but when a component is clicked the tooltip disappears and the user has to move mouse out of the control and then back into the control to display the tooltip.
Is there a way to prevent the tooltip from getting destroyed on mouse click. I tried calling e.stopImmediatePropagation(); e.preventDefault(); on mouse click event of button. also tried handling and preventing tooltipEnd and tooltipHide events but they are not fire when the button is clicked.

I don't want to draw my own custom tooltip because (A) it will look inconsistent across operating systems, (B) long tooltips wouldn't be able to float out of the SWF, and (C) it takes time to program (whether to align left or right depending on how close you are to a boundary).

By clicking on a button you you're taken back to the start of the flash file and all the variable reset to their starting positions. Basically I just want to make a button that reloads the flash file the same as hitting the reload button on your browser (except that it just reloads the flash file and not the entire web page).

What I did is published the flash file in a projector format (.exe), created a folder named 'fscommand' and put the pps file inside that folder, and tried to launch the file lying inside that folder from this flash file by using following codes:

Another way I tried which I found is:created a .bat file named launch.bat, put it in that folder & tried to launch the pps file via this .bat file using following codes:

I am creating a library like flash file for our game. I am using adobe flash cs5 with as3 and adobe indesign. I am still very new at flash(a real newbie) and i am wondering if anyone could help me in my problem.
i have a movieclip file named "mainPage". mainPage contains 6 buttons (with a cyrstal design) but lets focus only on 1 button. The 1st button contains the name Art_btn which calls the movieclip artBook when the button is clicked (which is my problem) . I have another movieclip named "artBook". the contents in my artBook are separated or written on each frames that could be called when clicked next or prev.
here is my prob. i dont know what is the right code that would call for artBook when Art_btn is clicked.i tried inserting codes such as loadMovie, gotoAndPlay and addChild but when I test it, the mainPage contents doesnt show up and it produces errors.

I am trying to access a button inside an external swf file that I loaded. Problem is every time I try to access this button I get an error saying that it's null!
Here is my code:

Now this should work, code-wise I think its correct. The problem is that loader cant find the required button. There is indeed a button in the loaded movieClip with an instance name of "button", I double checked that.

In my game I would like it so once I have died you can click the 'Main Menu' button and it will take you back to the main menu and clear everything else which had been going on.
But at the moment as seen in the flash file attatched once you have died in the game a child form appears with two buttons on it 'Play Again' and 'Main Menu'. On clicking the 'Main Menu' button as you can see it takes you to the main menu but all the stuff from the previous frame are still there in the background.
I want to call flash file (.swf file) on click button in flash file.
