Is there any way to get full path of a file which the user selects after clicking the browse button... ive read somewhere that using the FileReference in ActionScript we can pop up the browse dialog box by using the
FileReference.browse();
is there any way to extract the file path from this?Actually i need to use that path to Load the image later in the APPLICATION..

I am sure this is fairly simple but I just can't get it to work. I am pretty sure it is because of my lack of knowledge in AS 3 and something to do with my variable. Anyway here are the two snippets hopefully someone can make sense of it

I have managed to get it to open a file browser but all I can seem to get it to do is give me the NAME of the selected file *eg. selectedFile.name* I also need the path of the file as in C:examplefile.mp3.
The program I'm making plays an MP3 of your choice at a certain time, like an alarm clock. But I got tired of entering the file path of the MP3 EACH time so I wanted to have a browse feature.

I plan to run my App off a thumb drive, and I need to be able to find the full filepath of my Flash app at run time, so I can then point to an xml folder on the hard drive. I need it to work on Windows or Mac, so it needs to find the full path of the running file, then append the "xml" folder onto the end.

say, user created a xml file by an AIR application and this file has been saved in certain location of his machine. If user enters second time in that application, the content of that XML file, should be displayed without prompting him. application should read file silently and display the content.In this scenario, i thought that when user will save that file, the entire file location will be saved in cookie. If user enters second time in that application, the file path will be available from cookie. user will not be prompted.[code]How can I get that full qualified path of saved file?

I am finding this task challenging in AS3.if I am missing something basic/simple or some builtin method which can do this. I am not well versed with RegExp.I have a DYNAMIC string representing full file path which looks exactly like "d: empabc.doc". I want to extract the filename part from complete string e.g. abc.doc.I am aware of techniques like using "fullPath.lastIndexOf("\")" or regular expressions. The problem is it doesn't seem to work if you have "" in your path. It works with "/". The path being dynamic can't be manipulated to replace "" with "/" or any other delimiter. My interpretation is that since "" is used to escape characters - ANY character appearing AFTER "" is ignored by actionscript. e.g.[code]

I'm using the code below to allow a user to download a file.The problem I am having is that, if the file is located at/images/english/and I say I want to download it to myDocuments instead of having an images saved in MyDocuments /MyDocuments/1.gif.it creates the same folder structure as the file that was downloaded and saves it here:/MyDocuments/images/english/1.jpg.This isn't the whole code, but I think I included all the stuff relating to downloading files

I am in the process of writing a custom script for our internal SharePoint system that will allow for multiple file uploads on list items. In order for this to happen, I was wanting to use a flash file input (to select multiple files at the same time) and then pass an array of file paths (local to the user) into my ASP page to do the actual uploading.Does anyone know of a SWF multiple upload plugin that allows this? I've looked at Uploadify and cannot find what I need there.

Is anybody able to figure out what's wrong with this (or specifically why it doesn't work in mac browsers)?
[URL]
I've tried lots of different options including the yamago component [URL]. The yamago component works but I don't like the complexity of the code, it's difficult to edit. It also doesn't work in safari on a MAC.
My example above is the simplest version I've been able to get working but unfortunately only on PC.

We have noticed a possible bug in the Flash Player within Mac's latest OS version Snow Leopard.
When a Browse for file dialog is initiated, upon returning to the browser. It's as if there is a layer above the flash app which stops interaction with the mouse. MouseOver events no longer take place and a click is require to remove this layer. If you move your mouse at all after the click this invisible layer returns limiting interaction.
We have tested this with 2 macs running snow leopard and the latest Flash Player. And also verified it is not an issue on Mac OSX previous to Snow Leopard.
It seems to effect only FF and Safari. Opera functions correctly.. Here is a video we created documenting the problem: [URL]
We have not had any customers complain about this yet. But if it's infact a bug, it's just a matter of time.

I'm working on a site that's intended to display full screen. At present the initial HTML page has a "launch site" link which pops up a fullscreen window (via javascript window.open) with our Flash content.Once in the Flash site, all URLs that point at off-site destinations are set to open in a new window ("_blank" as the target - either an href in text, or via navigateToUrl). In Mac Firefox the new window opens BEHIND the full-screen Flash (as a new tab in my case). In Windows FF and IE, and Mac Safari, the new window pops in front of the fullscreen Flash.Is there a way to make the non-fullscreen window pop in front of the fullscreen Flash? I'm using swfobject 2.1 - perhaps I need to use an externalInterface call...thoughts?

I have a simple HTML file which embeds a Flash file. On the page styling I have a #flashContent with width:100% and height:100%; the Flash object itself has width="100%" and height=100% and is inside a div with id="flashContent". The idea is to make the Flash object (which is a game) to fill the whole browser window even as it resizes.
This works with no problems on IE and Firefox, but there is a small problem on Chrome. About 90% of the time when the page first loads all that is shown is black (the page's background color). The game only appears if the user resizes the window; from then on out it works correctly.
I'd like to ask if there is anything I am doing wrong or if there is an workaround to ensure the Flash game appears correctly on the Chrome browser.

I came across the following javascript code that creates a fullscreen pop up window from a rollover button (html/javascript) that appears to be unaffected by popup blockers in IE (or at least on my computers it's unaffected). However, when I adapt the button code to actionscript for use with a flash button it starts to trigger the popup blocker. figure out the correct actionscript to make this work without being blocked?

I'm working on a site that allows administrators to upload arbitrary SWFs and embed them on the page. Administrators are in theory trusted, but I still want to protect against potentially malicious administrators or misguided administrators from harming the site.
A part of the functionality of the site is that the SWFs can communicate to the containing browser page when it's finished and for the page to react.
Now, I can think of two ways to do this:
Use ExternalInterface.addCallback to create a global callback named something like isComplete that does logic and returns true or false depending on whether the Flash app is in a completed state. Then, just do something like setTimeout to just call that function repeatedly. I don't think this would require me to open up allowscriptaccess to the movie. Embed the movie with allowscriptaccess and have the movie call something like ExternalInterface.call('done') when it's finished. This option seems like it requires me to open up allowscriptaccess, which is a potential threat since I can't control the SWFs that would be embedded with this directive.

I need to get the full path of an object, and I don't know how to do that at all... I tried searching forums and google, but all found was something about nativePath, and all I get from this is "undefined". To sum the whole thing up, I need to pick up an object from the main stage on MouseEvent, and put it elsewhere. Then, by another click on the object (in the new location), I want it to go back to where it was in the first place. I cannot take the absolute path of the object, as I will have several objects and need to put this in a function..
Here is my function, for the moment :
Code:
function inventaire(evt:MouseEvent){
var chemin=evt.currentTarget.nativePath;
trace(chemin);
[Code]....
The targeted object is inside a movieclip, which is inside another movie clip...
The aim is to remove the object from the "popup" and have it return in it's place.

I am working on a Flash app that is 900x700 pixels. When viewed in misc. browsers at 1024x768, the browser chrome causes robs too much of the vertical space and the app appears in a window with a vertical scrollbar. Unacceptable.
The flash app will be launched via a link emailed to the viewers.
I'd like to avoid resizing the flash app and am wondering if there's a way to do the following via javascript, with no clicks involved:maximize the current browser window remove current window address bar and tabs / switch browser to full screen view (equivalent to pressing F11).
An alternative would be to resize the flash app vertically to match the browser canvas height to avoid scrolling. This may cause the app to become unreadable, so not the best approach in my case.
UPDATE: Seems that browser resizing and autoswitch to full screen won't work and neither will the flash app auto resize. What is the best approach then? And, some users may have browsers with toolbars or open a small browser window.
The only idea I have is to use javascript and display a message to users with small browser windows to pres F11 manually. The audience is executes and some may not even know what an F11 means...
