ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - Gradient And Fluid Screen?

I want the gradient to horizontally stretch across a fluid width stage.Simple question:When the window re-sizes (I have an event listener setup for stage re-size), should I clear and redraw the gradient to fit the width of the stage, or is it ok to just horizontally re-size the gradient sprite?If/when scaling, I assume there will not be any degradation of gradient quality due to the nature of Flash graphics (vectors)
How to create a fluid / liquid / fit to screen flash site with scrollBar. I am pretty much new to AS3 and flash. I have been looking for a way. To have, a background image contained in a MovieClip. Let's say: bg_mc and have it scaling automatically to fit the different user's Internet browser screens size. In other hand, have another MovieClip that handles and holds the site. Let's say: content_mc without being affected by the scaling of the bg_mc. And last, in the case... the content_mc height does not fit in the user's internet browser. Have the internet browser with its scrollBar so the user can scroll down and see the rest of the site. (right now my content_mc is being cut off the screen).

I have found a great resource for a fluid flash layout but there is one glitch with the site in that when it loads the content is all pushed up into the top left hand corner, if you then click rescale the browser it then fills the screen correctly but not initially. Here is the site:[URL]
I'm new to AS 3.0 and I don't get this fluid thing fully. Everything works fine when I want my movieclip to align to the middle of the screen but when I try to make a button (or any movieclip) always align to bottom right I can't figure out how. Here's my AS, how do I make the "ball_mc" align bottom left?
my first time trying to draw a multi-color gradient in actionscript 3. So I got this code from the help docs, but I can't seem to get a vertical gradient, whatever formula or number I use for rotate, it stays stuck on the default horizontal gradient :(
I'm trying to create spinning rays in actionscript to use in my website.Below is the rough idea of what i'm trying to create.Is it possible to create absolutely with 0 images.Following is the actionscript code in which i couldn't figure out how to add gradient, transperant background and little radial gradient to create glow effect.

If you paste above code in 1st frame of your scene with nothing on your scene, it will give you sweet rotating rays!
i have a straight, gradient line which extends from one end of the screen to the other.
what is the best (or only) approach for screen wrapping this line graphic, so that it appears to be moving?
my current "solution" is to draw the horizontal line at double the width of the screen and duplicate the gradient pattern for each half of the line. the line is center-registered and it's moved toward the right. once half of the line traverses the stage, the line is reset to it's starting point.
I have a website already done... but I'd like it to be over a full screen gradient background.I found a lot of tutorials and exemple on how to repeat a symbol picture to make a seamless background just like the one Lee Brimelow made on gotoandlearn.com, but I can't find one on how to make that gradient full screen background.
I am trying to draw a box shape on screen which fills with a gradient, but according to the angle between your start and end mouse points. ie, if you draw from 100x100 to 200,200, the angle will be 45 degrees and it will draw your gradient fill within 100x100 to 200,200 on a 45 degree angle.
Trouble is, I can EITHER get the angle working just fine if I fill the entire shape, or the angle isn't right but the fill area is correct. Please see the attached fla and click drag within the red box, trying out the 2 matrix arrays in thereto see the 2 x scenarios listed above.
I'm trying to create a really fluid animation in flash, how do you think the designer animated the arms of the black shadow guy that appears right at the begginning of this game? [URL]. That's really fluid, did he just make some sort of shape tween? Or the Cyanide and Happiness series on youtube, how did they animate like that?
I'm basically a designer with no real programming background. I do understand some basic of AS2, but with AS3 I kinda have no clue. Anyway I got a problem that I have been trying to solve alone for quite some time and can't seem toI'm trying to write my own code based on the thing I have seen in both tutorials. I wrote the fluid layout part based on the first tutorial link, and the preloader part based on the code found in preloader.fla in the second tutorial link. So now I have 2 seperated swf file, which is website.swf and preloader.swThe thing is that once the preloader is done and the website.swf is shown, the fluid layout code inside website.swf doesn't seem to work. Both files has the fluid layout code, and the code works when u open the file seperately, but when it's linked together the code just fails.here's the code on the preloader.fla:
I have a background image that I inserted into flash movie. How to make the background works as fluid page? As I reduce the size of the window, there are white borders on top and bottom. Attached is the FLA.
Is there any way to make a full browser swf that, at a certain point, stops scaling to the stage and allows the browser to use it's native scrollbars? For example, say my flash site has a top bar (it's y is always 0) and a bottom bar (it's y might be stageHeight - 15). Is there any way to tell the movie to stop scaling if the bottom bar's y is less than say 300, and from that point have the browser display it's scrollbars allowing you to scroll the content?
I'm trying to get my main class to resize to the browser window size. I'm listening on the stage to Event.RESIZE, updating my width/height to match the stageWidth/stageHeight, and drawing a rectangle to show me how big it is. When I resize, it flashes between a small and big size every other time the event fires. The width and height are correct in both cases, but in the "small" case, everything is in a small box.
I have some problem with gradient fill in Flash Pro CS5 For example I want to fill some rectangle with reflected gradient. When I click on one of the buttons in ColorMixer Panel (Extend, Reflect, or Repeat) nothing is changed - Reflect and Repeat options seems to doesn't work.

I've set the publish settings to 100% width and 100% height and have then added the 'noScale' function into the first frame of my timeline. Here is an idea of what I'm trying to create:
I have three movieclips that are touching the left side of the Stage and want them to touch the left side of the browser but centre vertically. I can do this by adding the 'Stage.align = LC' command, but not sure if this is the right way to go about it.
The movieclip that is on top contains a logo and I want it to have a fixed size. I called the instance name 'logo_mc'.
The movieclip below 'logo_mc' is called 'container_mc' and is a strip of photographs that I need to run from the left to the right side of the browser no matter what the browser size. I need this movieclip to scale proportionally up and down as they viewer resizes their browser so the first photo is touching the left side of the browser and the last picture is touching the right side (without distorting).
The final movieclip is called 'buttons_mc' and is right below the 'container_mc' clip. This movieclip needs to remain a fixed size.
Obviously when the 'container_mc' clip resizes I need the other movieclips to move up and down to stay the same distance above and below the 'container_clip'.

how to set up 2 pre selected colors to tween a gradient to instead of "random" ones. My Goal would be to use this class as a dynamic background creater and i would like to have different gradient backgrounds on different pages.
I have created a Sprite that contains 3 movieclips that act as masks for another movieclip. 2 of the moviclips have an alpha gradient but I cannot get the alpha to work. I have the three masks because they are separately animated.Here is my code.

Has there been an update this weekend thats broke masking I have tried to gradient mask an object both by using a vector mask and a png mask. NONE OF THEM WORK! Last week it woeked - and nooene else here at my job can get it to work either.Gradient masks are just shows by a square. No way of of getting smooth edges (gradients on a masked object anymore).
I am trying to construct a line dynamically, with a start and end gradient. I want to avoid using a GradientBox, as the lines are dynamic. All I want to do is have the line start red, end blue. This code does not work though :(
I'm working on my first Flash project, and for my preloader I'd like to do a really simple gradient based on the percentage loaded. The preloader says "77% loaded...", where the number 77 is a dynamic text instance called percentLoaded. I'd like the textColor of percentLoaded to change on a gradient from #000000 to #FFFFFF, in gray-scale.Therefore, I can't simply do:percentLoaded.textColor=(currentValue/100)*0xFFFFFF;This just converts the textColor to a multiple of FFFFFF, but outputs a color since it's not three separate components.
