ActionScript 3.0 :: Full Background And Centering Content (with Ratio)?

Feb 23, 2010

I would like to have a project where the background fits the whole window (can squeeze) and the content is automatically resized and centered; keeping its ratio.Auto-Resizing and Centering your Content But here's my problem :

My main project is 1400*900px.
My MC to handle is 1000*680px.

I load an external SWF in that MC (with addChild).This external SWF is 1000*680px too (same size than parent).I have a lot of clips in my external SWF and some of them are "out" the project zone.So when I load it in my MC; the MC is no more 1000*680 but more.I thought that what was outside didn't matter; but it seems that flash do not ignore what is out.So, when I use the code to resize/recenter the MC; it broke as it do not center as it should.I did try to use masks but it do the same.

IDE :: Full Screen Flash Centering With X-Positioning?

Jun 24, 2009

I can't get the content to center correctly when the browser window is resized. Despite efforts of trying to make the design work within all screen resolutions, it still does not fit correctly on smaller ones. What I want is for the content to center itself completely - Right now it only centers from left to right. Here is the code.

Code:
// Aligns everything to the top left side
Stage.align = "TL";
// Disables the movie from scaling
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";

[code]....

The first thing I tried was simply adding all_mc._y = Stage.width/2; to the start values and the sizeListener, which worked until you clicked on the navigation and the all_mc movieclip is moved to a new X coordinate. It moves fine, but when you try to resize the browser, it jumps the movieclip back up to the top and moves back down again.

all_mc is the movie clip that holds all of the website content. Pressing the buttons on the navigation makes the entire movieclip shift up and down.

The first thing I tried was simply adding all_mc._y = Stage.width/2; to the start values and the sizeListener, which worked until you clicked on the navigation and the all_mc movieclip is moved to a new X coordinate. how to tell the movieclip to stay center after the x position changes.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Centering Loaded Content?

Oct 28, 2005

What should I do to always keep my content centered. Lets say I want to load a swf that is smaller (ie the 1st frame only contains 1 element that is smaller than the stage dimensions) I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well....

[ X ] Problem solved I just came up with something i have some trouble to handle I've tried a couple of solution but none seems to work perfectly

What I'm trying to do is simple, get my flash to go full screen, but whatever resolution the user has, my flash must centers itself with the biggest proportion possible, and two movie clips goes right and left of it, as if they were borders.

I've been able to do this with a simple png, but i was not able with a movieclip where his dimension changes through time. ( i have a tween, so the mc gets really big even though just my stage is displayed)

I have one movie that I want content to appear in driven by xml. With text and background image for each node. (see attached diagram).It's only one row that gets wider as nodes are added.Problem is I need the cells to always be centered within the container - so they appear from the middle line.You can see diagram 1 and 2 the calls are positioned differently. I cannot find an example of this anywhere - In all example's I've found the nodes always output left to right, looping to redraw a new row.Any one know if this is possible, could a script calculate the number of nodes in the row and adjust the first node x position accordingly?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Ignore Mask Content On Resizing And Centering

Mar 24, 2010

I have a main flash container move that loads in multiple swf files. I created a movieclip container in the main flash container that resizes and positions according to the stage height and width as follows:

Code:
swf_width=stage.stageWidth;
swf_height=stage.stageHeight;
new_container_height=swf_height;

[Code].....

This works fine if no graphics are off the stage in the loaded swfs. Otherwise if I have a scrolling menu and the buttons out width the containing mc it takes into account the masked content width and centers the movieclip accordingly throwing alignment off.

Is there a way to ignore masked content when getting stage width and height?

Actionscript 3.0 :: Centering Stage And Background Image Using Actionscript?

Jun 13, 2010

I did a website using actionscript 2 where the content was centered on the browser window both vertically and horizontally.

e.g. [URL]

all that took was a small piece of actionscript code that i can't remember now.

Now using actionscript 3, I can't find such code anywhere, instead I am guided towards using dreamweaver and css which seems like a nightmare for me to achieve. Such a fundamental thing should be possible with minimum effort surely?

Also, I have a similar problem where I'm trying to repeat tile or just add a textured background behind the stage. This also seems like I'm having to use html/css to achieve. I'd rather just use flash if possible??

Full Screen Background Image

The Die Antwoord site does pretty much what I'm trying to accomplish. I'd also like to know how they can use such high resolution images. If I try to use a high res image, the file size is enormous.I also want to do is to be able to change the background image when a button is clicked. What is the best way to do that with large images? Another site that uses similar technology only with a video is the TV on the Radio site.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Full Window Background And Tracking?

Feb 28, 2011

I am building a flash website with a full-window resizing background, but as part of this project I need to be able to calculate certain elements in the image based on the original resolution of the image.For example, if I have an image that is 1600x1200px and there is an element at x=500 y=1000 then I need to track that element when the image is resized to. Say the image is resized to 1200x900px (scale always remains the same, btw) then the element would be at x=375 y=750, by my calculations.This seems easy enough to figure out on paper, but I haven't been able to figure out a formula for this. I am quite certain that this has to do with the fact that the ANCHOR POINT FOR THE IMAGE IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE IMAGE and not in the top left corner.The code is quite simple:

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
import flash.display.StageAlign;

Actionscript 3.0 :: Full Browser Background Video?

Apr 15, 2009

I'm looking to create a site that has video playing full browser in the background. A very perfect example lies here:[URL]..As you can see, the video is scaled according to stage resize while the menus and such stay where they should like a perfect liquid layout. I've watched the Liquid Layout video (from this site i'm pretty sure?) and understand how to position objects on the stage according to stage resize, but I've never figured out how to scale only the video like that. The only way I've been able to do that is by setting my publish settings to NoBorder with 100% width and height, but that defeats the whole liquid layout because it scales your entire swf. I feel like it's some sort of math I'm not grasping.

I'm probably wrong, but I feel like the way I'd go about doing this would be to set everything up as a liquid layout site; that is specify stage align and scale to TOP_LEFT and NO_SCALE. I'd have my liquid menu items positioned accordingly with a resize function and for the background video I'd use a FLV Playback Component that would be manipulated through another as3 function to scale accordingly. I'd use a Playback Component so as to be able to load multiple external videos (.h264) when a link was clicked. Am I on the right track? AS3 only please!
