Oct 12, 2011I'm trying to code a click-and-point adventure game for a class, in which interactive objects glow when you mouse over them.... In the frame I have the background image (in which there is, say, a drawer), and an image of the drawer glowing placed exactly over top of that. The glow image is invisible until you mouse over it, at which point it is supposed to become visible (and disappear upon mouseout). I have the mouseover function linked to the entire glow image (which is a movieclip), but it only seems to work when you mouseover a specific portion of the image (usually a corner). The code looks something like this:

when the glow-image is moused over, it moves upward slightly and a small amount of whitespace appears at the top of the image.
Flex :: Force MenuBar To Always Open Downward?
May 23, 2011I have a MenuBar which opens downwards except when there isn't enough room to open it. For example, it may have 10 items but there's only enough room to display 4-5. Flex then tries to display the menu above the bar, which is completely off the screen. Is there some property or style I'm overlooking to always force it to open downward?
EDIT: Thought I'd give some clarification as to how I plan to circumvent the issue. If I can always force the menubar to be orientated downwards, I can make it into a scrollable menubar displaying only a few items at worst.

IDE :: French Characters In ComboBox Component?
Aug 26, 2009I have searched high and low on this one and there are many different answers and suggestions.I am loading my text in via XML. I have made sure that it is UTF8 encoded.For any other dynamic text I would simply embed the characters I need.
So far I can change the colour and the size of the text in the combobox but just can't seem to figure out how to embed the french characters I need in there.I have created my own font and embedded the characters I need into a dynamic text field on the stage. The created font is named "appfont"

Editable = false
Labels = choice1, choice2
Data = 0,1
Row Count = 8
Change Handler = blank
I have an instance name of "type" on the component. Now I have a dynamic text field with a var of "price" and on the first frame of my movie I have this code

But its not showing these values in my text field when I select those choices.

May 21, 2011I have a simple ComboBox onstage, with 5 options in it. Each one has a textual label, and is assigned a numeral "data" in the Component Inspector (1,2,3,4,5). I'm trying to get the playhead to move to a specific frame, according to which option is selected, and can't make it work. The trace turns out fine, but the playhead stays in place. (The ComboBox is called my_cb).

I currently have an array that as the user goes from one question to another, it holds the question number if the user answers the question incorrectly. At the end I have the results of the array displayed on a dynamic text field.I was wondering if there is a way to display the contents of the array at the end on a comboBox or list component. UPDATE:I've overwritten the configUI method in a ComboBox subclass, but the measurements are correct all the time. Why does the container height change to 100 ?

Mar 6, 2006I am trying to populate a ComboBox from a ColdFusion component. The cfc is simply querying a db to get a list of products.
However, the code I am placing in the Actions panel:

doesn't appear to be working correctly. The only result I see is a blank box that when I hit the arrow, the first item in the query is returned. From what I have read, I thought that the code above would be all I need. So I'm not sure why:
1. The first item is not automatically selected
2. The rest of the list is not there.

Feb 17, 2009I'm running into a problem where for my current project I need to use a large custom mouse for interaction throughout a website. The custom mouse (a movieclip) works fine until the user needs to select a option from a ComboBox.The custom mouse clicks the component fine but once the ComboBox expands with it's options the custom mouse appears behind the expanded list.Is there anything I can do to get this to work? I'd really rather not create a 'custom' comboBox for this project as the material was already prepared and set in stone. ps:: i found this information below, but it was for AS3 and I need AS2 and in any case didn't do anything for my movie when i tried it.

Jun 3, 2008I have a combo box on the stage in a main SWF. when the user selects an item in the dropdown list a child SWF is launched into level0 using loadMovieNum and data is left behind using _global variables for the child SWF to use. this works fine and well. but inside the new child SWF that is launched is a button that takes you back to the previous main SWF with the ComboBox. its done using the same method loadMovieNum into level0. and the main SWF loads but you cannot open the ComboBox. it will not drop down. the halo green color on hover over is there and it gets darker when you click, but the list doesn't drop down. here is some code that I think may be significant to the situation...

May 18, 2010I'm trying to move the textField (or the TextInput) part of a combobox up a few pixels... should be easy but it's not. I've tried this:

I've viewed the properties of the TextInput, List, and Combobox components and can't find anything that will help me do this. I created the class mentioned in the link, and successfully linked the TextInput library symbol, but when I add a trace statement to the class I get nothing.
