Does this command exist? I can't seem to find it. I want to basically reload a movie clip on command, and I'm debating taking that part and putting it into an external .SWF file and unloading and reloading it, but that seems silly..
View 5 RepliesI'm having trouble with a button script my client has asked me to create. I need to put together a script to detect if a specific movie clip "port_fade.swf" has already been loaded and into a container and if so don't reload it. This clip has to load on a on(release) function. I have 8 buttons and depending on which button a visitor clicks on I need the clip to load. I don't want to have it reload every time a button is clicked.
I found this code but it doesn't seem to work.

Tell me how to reload the movie itself, same like we embed a swf file on a web page, click browser's reload button so the flash movie reset to its original state?
But I want to do this from within the movie, when user click "reset" button, all the previous created instances will be released from memory. I can delete each object manually, but lots of work involved, also not sure if the resources are really free.
I would like to ask a newbie help, How could I reset a movie when it already ended. I am aware it needs to know when the movie finish ,and if it finishes then load the movie again. I know this is very simple but I need help on this .

I have an aspx page with a flash movie (gallery) that calls another aspx page which gets the info form a database and returns XML that the movie uses to populate the gallery with. Currently I have it use a query string that is passed through the flashvars so it will get the right info on post back. Is there a way I can reload the movie and pass the variable into flash without a postback? For instance the page doesn't reload, just the flash with the correct set of images.This is the JS used for the movie:

I've been making a game and want it so you can play again - when I try and send it back to frame 1 (it's preloader) it doesn't really work. I was wondering if there was a way of basically refreshing or reloading the whole swf file?

What i am looking to do is create 5 pages with the same flash header. Links will be below the movie. When people click on the links a new page opens (same window) without reloading the flash file.
I think i need a code to put in my first frame to store a cookie but cant find the code.

For all you programmer guru out there, please lend me a hand if you can.I am using flash version 5.0. I have 7 flash movie files within one working flash file and only 4 movie files gets display on an HTML page at a time. I need a script that will randomize the appearance of the movie files each time the browser gets refresh. But the script should only randomize 2 of the 4 movie files.
So for example, say I have movie files named 1 to 7. On browser load, I have movie file, 1,2,3 and 4 displayed. Now when a user refresh browser, I want movie file, 1 and 4 to be replaced by either movie file 5,6, or 7 (ie. random diplay of file).This might sounds confusing or I might not be explaining it well, but if you go to www.standpipe.com you will see what I mean. Look at the Case studies section, there are 4 movie files being displayed.
On the new site we are working on, it has Flash and HTML. The problem is when you click on the navigation buttons(which are flash) they should load a new external movie and open the new HTML page at the top. When you publish the file and click on the buttons, the HTML page loads, but flash seems to reload and play the same external movie the whole time. Here is the code I used:

View 17 RepliesI am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.
I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]

each page is also a movie clip and on release of a button its played. the problem is that when i press another button to play another movie clip 'page' the old content is still there.
Is there a way of reversing the page transition i have used to bring out the movie clip and then bring in the next movie clip.

View 2 RepliesThere is a bad gap in my knowledge with Event Dispatch and Event architecture, and this problem proves it. I've been getting nowhere on this problem for two days, I've posted everything to my Flash site. Go here, please: [URL] Click on "Flash Banners" The two thumbnails represent two different classes. Each class is identical. Both are "extends Movie Clip" classes. Tweeners of various types control the hover and click methods. URL Loaders load the thumnails which I then wrap in MC's and make them buttonMode = true, etc. Hover and click to load the Banners on the thumbnails.
I can't send an event from the Eagle movie clip or the T2D movie clip to tell the other to fade out. Both Banner classes are instantiated through a separate Base class. I'm sure this has to be an Event Dispatch from one MC to another and that it can't be done by the Base class. how I can send an Event or Event Dispatch and what the code structure is so one movie clip can in one class can tell the other movie clip in the other class to disappear while it's neighbour is playing. I'm happy to post code or explain / clarify anything that's not clear.
I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.

Q1) The registration point of a created clip is top left - my question is how can I dynamically change it's registration point - say to center center?

Q2)When I tried to create two different movie clips, I found I had to create them at different depths, else the first would load and the second would not. Why would that be so? I'm on MX 2004 Pro.
I have a very simple problem but I can't find the very simple solution to it. I've create an animated menu with animated movie clips inside to work as buttons. All the main buttons work perfectely but I've got just on button with a sub-menu. On this sub-menu I've placed an invisible hitarea button in order to place some gotoAndStop action. The thing is, it seems to me like this submenu hitarea are underneath something else (even though is the seccond layers right about the actions layers). I've placed a simple trace action whenever the mouse rolls over this area but I get nothing... Am I doing something really wrong? I'm losing all my hair already.

I've imported 9 .mov files in my flash presentation. Each lasts for about a minute, and the language is english. I have translation of each video clip in Serbian language as .txt files. And now i need that text to go below the movie clip simultaneosly with the voice in movie clip. And for example when i press pause,the text stops,and when i resume it,the text goes again.

I really have two questions: How do I affect both a movie clip and its child movie clip in the same function? and how do I pull info from one component into a function for another? My basic setup is a movie clip of font choices, one on each frame: "bodyText_mc." Each of these frames has a child clip "bodyText_mc.bodyText" with alignment choices for the font. For instance, the user picks "Script" in the first ComboBox and then picks "Align Right" in the second. (All of this text is static because I need more design control that I can get with dynamic text.)
