I've got a video with a black rectangle that moves, tilts and zooms...is there any way flash can match an object to that? (for example, if I want to put an image over the black box?? Is there any way to detect where objects are in a video from flash? I've seen some things with web cams where snow collects on people in the cam, etc. so there's got to be some way to "find" things.
View 3 RepliesI have one sprite that I can rotate freely, and a second one that rotates based on the first. So, for example, Sprite A is rotated from 0 degrees to 70 degrees. I want Sprite B to gradually adjust its rotation to match A's using the shortest path. (Rotate clockwise 70 degrees, rather than rotating CCW 290 degrees.) I'm intending for it to re-calculate the shortest direction on the fly, so using the previous example, if Sprite A was 70 degrees, and B was rotating toward 70 and currently at 50 degrees, and I suddenly rotated A to -20 degrees, B would switch directions rather than take "the long way." (This part I should be able to figure out on my own once I understand the basic method, I'm just including it to make sure my intentions are clear.)
View 2 RepliesI'm working on the development of a tool that plays two audio files and one video file simutaneously.All the files need to play together at the exact same time, so that the audio syncs with the video.
Our situation right now is that each one of the files start playing at different times depending on how fast they are loading. The problem is, my programmer is telling me that there is no way to track the buffer of the audio, so for example, the video only starts playing when at least 30% of the audio is loaded. Is it possible to do this?

Since it's AS2, it's harder to do this. My ideea is that I can create a php page which should be opened each time the player loads on any website; than the flash player can do a "geturl" of the php file which has Google Analytics code or some other decent tracker.
The geturl command could contain a variable like the Video Title which already is included in the player; and this title would pass on with GET to the php file and setup a dynamic page title which can be tracked very well. Problem: how to i use the GETURL function without have user's browser open a new tab or window. Is there any hidden way to do it?

Right now, I have a car object named car that I want to animate around a track. I did the animation using a motion tween, then used the Copy Motion as AS3 option, the code looks something like this (arrays have been simplified so as not to take up too much room). The code works just fine, the car moves around the track like I wanted it to, but I was wondering is it possible to press a button to stop the animation at a certain point, then resume playing it again when pressing a different button?

I am making a dynamic banner system which can handle img banners, as well as flash banners done with object/embed. The entire site makes heavy use of jQuery, including handling the 'click' events.
This obviously isn't a problem when it comes to tracking the clicks on the image itself (i track the click on the parent DIV tag. However, it fails when the advert is an SWF, as I suspected it would.Is there a jQuery workaround that would allow me to capture a click on a Flash element with the DOM?
I have an arbitrary number of object instances on the stage. At any one given time the number of objects may be between 10 and 50. Each object instance can move, but the movement is gradual, the current coordinates are not predictable and at any given moment I may need to retrieve the coordinates of a specific object instance. Is there a common best-practice method to use in this case to track object instance coordinates? I can think of two approaches:
I write a function within the object class that, upon arbitrary event execution, is called on an object instance and returns that object instances coordinates.
Within the object class I declare global static variables that represent x and y values and, upon arbitrary event execution, the variables are updated with the latest values for that object instance.

I need to make a local shared object (or javascript cookie function- below) that I can use to calculate the time since an ad was last loaded. It's an expanding ad, and I only want it to expand once every 2 hours. (Trying to keep the expanding-annoyance to a minimum!) I understand the basics of creating an "lso" but the action script for retrieving the time, placing it as a variable in the lso, and later retrieving it to figure the time is well beyond me. I considered a normal browser cookie, set to delete after the session, bypassing all time calculations... Forcing javascript to create a cookie ONLY when flash tells it to (after the ad has expanded) is tripping me up and creating a function to check for the cookie on the first frame to decide whether or not to continue is also beyond my simple animation skills.

View 1 RepliesI have a Flash CS4 Professional version installed in my machine. Here is my problem.
1st - I'm importing an image to stage and set the width and height to match the image. (everything is good, no problem) 2nd - I am using the FLVPlayback components build-in from Flash CS4. It does load the video and everything. (everything seems good) 3rd - Publish the video to my local drive (everything seems good) 4th - I could play the video from my local pc and it loads fine and fast 5th - Upload everthing from my local folder to the Web server, it does display the background image but not the video. It has a white blank screen. What is going on? I copy the exact folder from local to server. What have I missed? How could I make the video to load?
I am trying to put together a class for playing video using the Video object. So far, I have only been successful in getting the Video object to fully work when not using a class setup. In the documentation, I have read that to use the Video object you have to actually drag/create the video object onto the stage. So, in my next attempt, I created the video object onto the stage within a MovieClip but still trying to use a class/linkage setup with the Video inside inside of a MovieClip container. No luck there either. Here is the basic AS2 script that is linked to a MovieClip that contains the Video object ("video" instance) within it.

I am creating an actionscript video player in Haxe and to avoid the asyncError I am trying to create a custom Object. How do I do this is Haxe? The client property specifies the object on which callback methods are invoked. The default object is the NetStream object being created. If you set the client property to another object, callback methods will be invoked on that other object. Here is my code.

View 1 RepliesI'm pulling news information from an XML file. The root node is "article", the child nodes are (for example) "date", "title", "caption", "copy", "link", etc.
Each time an article is added, a couple button (mc's) will be added to the stage. One button when clicked displays a movie clip and attempts to update the dynamic textfields within to display just the date and caption. The other button when clicked displays a different movie clip and attempts to update the dynamic textfields within to display all of the information noted above.
Being that this is dynamic and coming from an XML file, I want to avoid having to write if ... else statements for every new article (and each button).
Is it possible to search an XML document and scan for a name/ID match to create certain actions?
In other words, If I were to give an MC a name of "thisButton123" and also give an XML article node an ID attribute of "thisButton123", I could say something like if the currentTarget.name == any of these XML node attributes than pull that nodes content. Eliminating the need to compare/contrast names and ID's specifically.
I have a problem in that I've made a web banner - text with motion and shape tweens. Trouble is when I test movie, it not only plays in a different font to the one I've used in the design (metaPlus normal) it misses out text!?I'm not getting an exact replication of what the fla file is.[code]
View 5 RepliesI have this piece of script, where I want to do a hittest when both the x AND y are not the same (and some other variables) now, that wouldnt be so hard, you think: if (MovieclipA.x!=MovieclipB.x && MovieClipA.y!=MovieclipB.y) but! if i now have a MovieclipC, which is on the same y coordinate as A, but not on the same x coordinate, the hittest wont execute..., as the y coordinates match...

In as3, I've created my own video object to play an flv file. The code starts out something like this:[code]...I would like to attach a .swf skin for it but cannot find any examples on how to do it. All examples are instructions for adding code to a instance of the FLVPlayback object.My question is can you only attach skins to the FLVPlayback object?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to stream an FLV file into a Video object by attaching a netStream using attachNetStream(). This works fine for local files as well as downloading files from a different domain; however, I am trying to download an FLV from php file that sends these headers:
Content-Type: video/x-flv Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="video.flv"
The netStream object responds as though there is no problem, outputting:
NetStream.Play.StartNetStream.Buffer.FullNetStream.Buffer.FlushNetStream.Play.StopNetStream.Buffer.Empty
But The video does not play on the Video object. If I download the video from that php link and save it locally, then have the netStream load it from there, it works just fine.
Why is this happening? I was trying to use URLStream as a way around this, but I couldn't figure out a way to attach a URLStream to a Video.
I have placed a video object on top of a graphic that is a link to another site. Before the user clicks the button to activate the video, they can see my background graphic and use the link. After they play the video, the background graphic is no longer visible. Is there any way to get rid of the remnants of the video after it is played so picture and link are visible again?Here is my great code:

As simple a problem as the title says. I must be doing something really stupid. I've got a large section of a site, built a month ago runs fine. Went to make some changes. Now when I compile the video instantiantion fails.
