ActionScript 3.0 :: "Load Never Completed" Crashes Browser
Nov 6, 2007
I'm having a problem in a couple of projects where I'm loading images and placing them on the stage, and if you click to another site while they're loading, or press the back button, or even close your browser, it throws this error:
Code:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
Then the browser crashes. This happens in both Safari and Firefox on Mac.
The code I'm using to load the images is pretty standard (I think):
Code:
loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler, false, 0, true);
[Code].....

I need to do some updates to components after a user has resized the browser window. Is there a good solution to determine when a user has completed resizing? I wasn't able to find any flex events that would cover this case.

I've got an animated banner for my site which I've grown quite attached to. It's a scene of the sky with the Title of my site on it and there are clouds that move constantly across it.Now the tricky part and part that I think might be freezing up the browser (firefox) is that the background changes depending on your computers time.So if you visit my site and the time is past 6:00PM, the day background will change to night.It's not an instant change though. You actually have to refresh to get it to change. Anyway, if I let the site/banner sit in my browser as either the active tab or the non-active tab for at least 10 minutes, the whole browser will freeze up. The only way to stop it from freezing up is to close it and restart it.I don't know what I did wrong, but I was hoping you guys could tell me. The file size is not that big (262kb). The images were converted from .jpg to vector, so I can't see why it'd be too graphic intensive. Basically I'd just like to be able to run it at the current resolution and quality, but not have it crash people's browsers.

I need a nudge in the right direction for a theory of a solution to the below problem.
Desired Result:
Current existing structure: FLEX RIA that communicates with MySQl DB via PHP.
We basically, have a RIA that is part of a software solution we provide to our customers, we want to restrict login sessions to one/username, which we did successfully by setting a value in our MySQL DB...the point of this was to restrict the use of username(s) to one application access point and create the ability for us to charge for additional usernames, if so desired by our customer.
Problem:
Although, we successfully restricted user logins to one session, we ran into a problem when the RIA connection with the DB was inadequately terminated (eg., browser crash, OS crash, flash player error, etc). When these crashes happenned the value that was set in the DB for the user, showing them logged in, would persist and thusly lock them out of our software application. We would have to go into the database and manually reset their logged in status.

My swf is occasionally crashing the browser (or just crashing the plugin as chrome tells me).
How do I diagnose the bug? I am developing for flash player 9 using flex. The bug lies somewhere in my as3 code.
Things I have tried: Turned on log files so I can see trace("...") output. However, my log files, and my swf, are ending at inconsistent termination points. Install the debug version of the flash player Tried different browsers (today I am on vista, and can reproduce the bug on four browsers).
I am hoping there is a [legible] stack trace from the plugin.

I have been working on DirectShow source filters. The flash10c.ocx routine that is invoked when you click on any "Featured Highlight" on http://www.ustream.tv can abort and takes ANY browser with it under certain conditions.
After days of work, I have finally narrowed this down to the camera enumeration function(s) in flash10c.ocx. Before beginning this quest, I had no idea that the flash player was enumerating cameras on user's machines.
If you right click on a window playing flash video, and select "Settings" then click on the camera symbol, you will see a drop-down window listing all Direct-Show Source Filters that are on your machine. I have several.

In Actionscript 3, I make a call to Javascript using:
ExternalInterface.call('javascriptFunction');
If in Javascript, there's an error or a blocking call, the entire browser will freeze. I can't use Firebug in Firefox to debug it because the act of stepping through the callback also crashes the browser. How do I go about debugging this?
[Code]...
I'm on an HP desktop with Windows 7, Firefox 5.0, IE9, and Chrome 12.0.742.122. Either alert call will randomly cause Firefox to freeze...it actually usually happens in bunches, where it'll freeze for a few times continuously (obviously restarting Firefox each time)..and then stop for a few hours and be alright.It has yet to crash IE9 or Chrome, though I haven't tested it as extensively with Chrome. Using the Firefox console doesn't help since Firefox just crashes all together. If anyone could shed some light on that, that'd be great!

We are experiences a phenomena that flash clients connecting to a live (pre recoreded)stream served from FMS (we use 3.5.2), have their buffer grow out of proportionit is alsoccompanied mostly with a complete video freeze, until the browser crashes.(you can expect a crash after having more then 4000 seconds of video buffer active in memory)The more we switch streams via a playlist,the more this seems to happen,Thus, streaming long video feeds keeps the system stable, but when injectingfeeds into a main stream and switching back increases the probability

I have a slidshow inside of a flash page. It works great on my desktop, but when I upload it to a server I get the infamous Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed. I initially assumed that I must have missed uploading a file, so I uploaded the whole folder, Photoshop files and all, thinking that I could start deleting things until I found the culprit. But even after I uploaded everything that I have, the browsers still gave me the same error with no slide show. I'm wondering if my call to the .swf (from inside a .swf) needs to be different on a server.[code]...

I have made this very simple slideshow which loads images via a XML file. Everything works fine locally, the images load nice slideshow. But the problems start when I load it up to my server, once it is uploaded and I try t o play it I get this error:
[QUOTE]Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.[/QUOTE]
It has something to do with the .xml file which I load in AS here:
var request_xml:URLRequest=new URLRequest("setup.xml");
I tried to replace it with ("[URL]") but then I got a sandbox violation error which is not solvable unless you get it signed (I read that somewhere). The way I load images in XML:
<SLIDE_SHOW>
<PICTURE>ImagesBw/Foto1.JPG</PICTURE>
...
</SLIDE_SHOW>

I am using a UILoader to load images from a sub folder in my site. The code works flawlessly in Flash IDE even with simulated low download bandwidth. I am running the swf in a mirror image file structure of the one on my site on the server. The problem is not related to file path because that would throw a #2034 and I'm not getting that error. Interestingly, the failures do not occur with all images and the failures are repeatable (they always happen with the same images) The images are all (ones that fail and ones that don't) about the same size (20-30KB) and type (.jpg) so I don't think size diff is an issue.

I have a XML based gallery complete with preloaders. When I test the movie in flash it works fine even during a simulated download. However as soon as I put it and all of its associated files on my server I get ""Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed." and none of my images load.

I have a client who has a home page that I built for him. Basically there are words randomly displayed in the background. Then there are three images that rotate based on a timer. So I have two timers going. I have event listeners added to the images when the app starts. I'm moving the image off the stage when it's not visible. So I'm not adding and removing listeners over and over. However, if you watch the browser memory usage in all three major browsers it climbs several mb's in a minute. Therefore, if the user sits on the homepage the browser crashes.

I've got main.swf witch is preloading another child.swf. It's little bit complecated, because I need to load child.swf from path relative to baseUrl passed to main.swf by flashvars. It works on IDE, FF3.5, safari, IE 8. Unfortunately it gives me " IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed" when running from IE 7 I've got no idea what to do about this. Heres how I load this child:
Code:
_loader = new Loader();
_loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onError);
_loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.VERIFY_ERROR, onVerifyError);
_loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.NETWORK_ERROR, onNetworkError);
_loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.DISK_ERROR, onDiskError);
_loader.load(new URLRequest(SiteManager.baseUrl + "/site.swf"));
How it's possible that there is unhandled IOErrorEvent? Why is this related to browser?

Basically I've had a really hard time trying to unload / load external swf slideshows. I've got it so I can load the first one fine, but when I tell it to go to the next frame with the next movie, the movie bit is just blank. If I have a link that goes directly to the frame of the second movie before loading the first movie, the second movie loads fine then, but will not load once the first movie has been loaded, if that makes sense. So I followed a tutorial on here to load and unload. And it almost works! The first movie loads, then I click the second movie and that loads, and then I click back on the first movie and the friggin pc crashes!!
The two movies are on the "home" and "ds" buttons at [URL]. My script is below:
// Container
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
// Url Requests
var imageRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("home.swf");
var imageRequestPs3:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ps3.swf");
var imageRequestPs2:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ps2.swf");
var imageRequestPsp:URLRequest = new URLRequest("psp.swf");

I followed a tutorial online to create a photo gallery using an XML file. It works fine when tested in flash via the test movie window and with the bandwidth pro-filer turned on. So, I uploaded the page to my website to test it, and when I load the page in any browser I receive this error message in an adobe flash player pop up box:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
Here's the Actionscript I am using:
var xmlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.davidframpton.co.uk/Gallery/galleryData.xml");
var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader (xmlRequest);
var imgData:XML;

I was working on a project and Error#2044 was driving me crazy, I try to catch all errors, review and over review my movie loaders but nothing, that error does't allow me to use preloader because it fires off from the begining. When I was totally on my knees I decided to start the whole project from scratch, but, just for the sake of it after making a new flash document I try to simulate downloading and the SAME error fire off!, What? there is nothing, not even a line of code, a pure fresh movie and this errors lurks in my movies.What could It be, it is just my Flash?, this has no sense, It is an empty (fresh movie), why does this error fire off?
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.

I have flash movie that loads flv's from a server, in flash IDE and even when you load the swf from the server this all works super and is not a problem. However when the flash is embedded in a hmtl page it does not load the video and I think it doesnt even load the xml but I think its the same problem.
I think its something to do with the security but Im not sure. Its probably something very simple but it is very annoying.

I have an swf, lets call it 1.swf, that has a button that calls another swf to level one. In that second swf, lets call it whatever.swf, on layer 1 it has an flv file of about 40 seconds. on layer two it has a button that has this action:
on (release) {
unloadMovie(1);
loadMovie("../swf/1.swf", 1);
}
So if that button is pushed, then it unloads whatever.swf as I need it to.
the problem is that if that button is not pressed, then when that 40 second flv finishes, it just sits there with a black stage and the button. What i need it to do is that when that 40 second flv is finished, it automatically unloads whatever.swf on level 1, again showing 1.swf on level 0.
Also, before anyone anwers, the way i did the flv is that in whatever.swf the flv was imported to the stage, i slected the "already deployed" put in the URL and then it created a flash video component which is on the stage.

I'm loading a bunch of swfs into my movie and when they are finished loading I need to change each swfs color based on my xml data. My problem is when my Event.COMPLETE fires I don't know which loader it belongs to to retrieve the correct xml. I've tried giving my loaders names but I can't seem to access the name from the Event.Complete function. My trace causes the error: Property name not found on flash.display.LoaderInfo and there is no default value. How do I access my loader name?

i have around 50 swf files , example. main.swf,about.swf, services.swf, products.swf...... etc
main.swf is my 1st file which i embedded in index.html by using actionscript 2.0 dynamically i am loading the external files ( which is about.swf, sevices.swf.. ) whenever i click a specific button it loads a specific swf file. which works perfectly fine with me. but it gets really annoying each time i have to load the files and wait for the files to get loaded. i wanted a javascript or actionscript code which will load all my external swf files invisibly in the cache of the browser while browsing the website. So that whenever i click a button its load instantly without waiting to load again.
for further reference i have seen this kind of work in [URL]

I am a problem with loading swf externally into my main flash application. The absolute paths to the SWFs I wish to load are in a database and are retrieved once the application starts up. The weird thing is that some of the swf load and some do not. Those who do not are in the same "category" so to speak. They are all supposed to load inside a square so they act like textures. All the other swf's that DO work are just added normally. Also, everything works perfectly when I start up the application manually on my machine instead of accessing it through my browser. Basically when I go to the folder where the application is and start it everything works, but when I access the html file that embeds the application, the texture swf's do not load.
