Jun 16, 2010My flash app needs to popup a browse file dialog box and select an audio file. After selection, it will then play the audio file inside flash.

Oct 10, 2009I made a doc class and a sound class. the sound class purpose is that if ever add sound i can just recycle easily the code to use and via the doc class just load it intot he correct frame. Issue: I made the sound class and it loads correctly for the first frame... But i want to add ANOTHER audio file, how would i alter my code setup so i can load the new audio file but instead on frame 1 always... i want to be able to load the audio file in frame 3 or 5 or 25.... How do i do that with the code i have setup??

May 15, 2007I'm looking for a (free) flash player that I can embed in my site and use to play a .m4a (.mp4 with AAC audio) file that will be obtained using a URL (i.e. it's not local to the server hosting the web page).I've tried searching on google for one, but either I'm searching wrong or no one has made such a thing. Ideally this would be very simple (small user interface with play button and maybe a progress bar) and it would be easy to have multiple instances of on an html page (can create the player with an <object> tag).

Jun 8, 2007I am creating a web site for a kitchen company, there are differen images as headers on each page. But on one of the pages they want a flash animation to slideshow their kitchens. The animation is done, but they want it to start on a random kitchen. I have only started using actionscript and am struggling a bit, I've managed to find some coding, but they don't seem to work. What I'm looking for is a code to sit in the first frame to randomly select either frame 2, 12, 22 or 32 to go to and play on from there.

Sep 28, 2003I have multiple movies that I loaded one at a time depending on which option is selected. I would like to load movies in the background while they are browsing one selection. Is it possible to load a movie without loading into target? So that when they select a different option it will have already been loaded in the background and would just have to be displayed in the container.

I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. #2 I got the XML data to the combo box and the selection from the combo to the list box. How would I get the users selection from the listbox to load a .swf into the loader component? Again, I'm not 100% of how well I did my XML and I have no idea how to use the XML connector in that way.

Aug 2, 2010I have a movieclip that contains some checkboxes "preferences_mc". I have an xml file that is loaded in and has an element called "isUnique" which has children with unique names like id, title, version and such. What I am trying to accomplish is for the form I am building to be able to select/deselect each checkbox and save the selection out to an xml file. I have gotten that far and everything is working perfectly. My problem is that after I load the xml back in and try to set the checkbox.selected = xmlPrefs.isUnique.id to get the checkbox to use the data from the xml file to decide whether it is selected or deselected, it ALWAYS selects the box whether it is true or false. I have tried everything. xmlPrefs.isUnique.id traces out as false which is correct but the screen still shows the checkbox selected.

Aug 16, 2004I trying to populate a combobox from a .php file and return the values of the selection. I have the .php set up to where it outputs something like
&artists=anartist,anartist2,anartist3, etc..they have names..I already have the combobox set up to where it displays

after you click the dropdown arrow..How would I get it to return a the numerical value for the artist (ex: anartist would be "0" since it is first in the list) and put it into a variable so that when it is selected it could be placed into an eval() function to create a variable such as "albumcover0" to be loaded through a function. I have been reading tutorials for hours to no avail.I want a single function to produce the number from the selected artist and place it into a variable, then go through all of the loadImage(for the "album image") etc functions..they will be functions that I have made already previously and call all of them with the number in the called fuctions (ex: loadImage(0)) where "0" is the number derived from the variable out of the combo box.Ive tried tons of tutorials, I think that it has something to do with me using flash mx 2004, and as2 turned on.

Feb 8, 2011I have an upload form for an image. The user clicks browse and selects a file. How can I get the image dimensions the moment the user selects the file (before the file is even uploaded to the server). It obviously has to be something client-side with maybe javascript/jquery or flash/flex (prefer js//jquery though), but can either of them do this? This is the code I'm using to tie into zozo's getImgSize() function, but it gives me 0*0 as size.

Sep 8, 2009I find myself inbetween the AS2 and AS3 world with this project. I added an audio file in a project which is a narrated presentation. If I play the timeline the audio plays but when I stop the playhead the audio continues to play. To tell you the truth I could not even remember having to do this in AS2 not alone in AS3. I have the audio preferences set to specch to make the file smaller, have the frame rae up to 30 frames per second as I'm using FlashEff for text and movieclip effects.
Is there away to be able to stop the audio so i can see and hear where I am when I start dropping the text and pics in the project?

Sep 22, 2010A quick question. Is it possible to play a mp4 video file with 2 audio tracks in it and switch between the two audio tracks? In stead of subtitles we want to provide the user with audio in their own language. As a test I received a mp4 video file with 2 audio tracks, an English and a German. When I load and play the mp4 video file I default hear the English audio track. Is it possible to switch to the German audio track?
