ActionScript 3.0 :: Load An External SWF Using A Catch-all?

Is there a way to load a SWF by filename, but using a catch-all somewhat like the asterisk in an import statement is used?For example, I have an SWF called MyAnimation_v01.swf This file gets changed quite a bit, so everytime it gets changed, the "_v01" (version) gets incremented... i.e. MyAnimation_v02.swf, MyAnimation_v03.swf, MyAnimation_v04.swf, etc.Is there a way to load a SWF whose filename matches a certain set of values (MyAnimation_) and disregards the rest? So, instead of having to explicitly load "MyAnimation_v72.swf", something like "MyAnimation_ + * + .swf"?
In Flash AS3 i wanna write the single try catch block in order to catch any errors in whole class. For ex, i have a lot of functions in myClass.as. I don'w wanna write in each function try catch blocks in order to catch errors in this function. Is there any methods to do this?
Is it possible to catch some external URL requests from loaded swf?
I have loader swf in which I need to load another swf. Those swf files I load are extarnal and I don`t have fla sources.
There is one large *.swf community which allows *.swf creators to upload their swfs. However, that should be packed swfs in one file, with no external script requests.

Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. I am trying to get a nav button in one movie (main_nav.swf) to target a my main movie (index.swf) and load a sub nav movie (metals_subnav_infinite.swf) into it. The sub nav movie will do a similar task - loading a portfolio swf into main movie (index.swf). How do you load external library objects from an external swf? I want to have an external swf that only contains library objects that are exported for Actionscript, and load these from the master .swf file dynamically during the master swf execution. (I may have multiple external swf resource files)I want to be able to load the external swf, and then access it's library objects via actionscript in my main swf file.
as3 is new for me, but i would like to write a script using loader to load an external swf, and control the external swf. But I find I can't control the swf, because there are no fixed instance name. here is my script.
When i try to load an external swf file using Loader.Load(); The swf starts playing even before the init event is fired. Is there any way to stop the swf from playing atleast until the init event or complete event is fired?
I'm loading (and unloading) external swfs into a holder in my main document. However, they seem to load perfectly the first time, but after that, they load at a different x and y. I've seen this happen before in someone else's file, but I'm not sure what the solution is.
Okay so I am trying to load external swfs which load videos dynamically.
I can load the swfs into the parent fla fine (if I remove all the code and just place a circle or something on the stage of the swf), and the swfs are also loading their respective videos correctly. But when I try to load the external swfs, if they contain any casting related code in them, I'm getting an error
[AS]TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at swf1_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()[/AS]
Is there some specific method to casting within external swfs?

I've got a small (more than 100 hours of thinkwork up till now!) problem I can't seem to solve:
I want to populate an external loaded swf with an dynamicly loaded xml fil (loaded from my config.xml).

how do I get the external xml into the external swf as a variable for the actionscript in the external loaded swf (So I just want to put the path in the script in my external swf...).
I'm starting to get an understanding of how all of this works, but it's all to new to me at the moment, so I'm sure I've approached it from the wrong angle.
this works right on its own but when using addchild in main.swf the menu loads the button events work, even click but it will not load the associated file. If i place the menu code in the main.swf it loads all required files. QUESTION How do reference menu.swf when loaded as an external swf?
I have a "about.swf" file that loads a CSS file and formats some dynamic HTML text. On its own, it works fine...but when it gets loaded into my "Main.swf", it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? Is there a bug that doesn't let you load CSS with external .swf's?My style sheet and index file holding the "Main.swf" are all on the root level of my site. The "Main.swf" has a "holder_mc" clip that I load the "about.swf" into which has the CSS formatting. When loaded into "Main.swf", it doesn't work.
I'm sure this question has been answered but I have been looking everywhere and all I can find is how to load an external SWF but not how to unload it. I come from a basic knowledge of AS2 and it was easy for me to load using levels but I have run into a wall. Normally I do get by with a lot of R&D, but for some reason am stumped and really pressed for time!An interactive file (say main.swf) is already ready to go.I now need to make this play over a background (say bg.swf) which is a fairly heavy file.
What I'm trying to do it this:Open a new flash document (say "index.fla")- on the first frame, call "bg.swf" by using "loadMovie('bg.swf', 2)"[where 2 is the level number] and then calling "main.swf" by using "loadMovie('main.swf' 4)" [where 4 is the level number]
Now the problem I am facing is this:"bg.swf" is quite a heavy file so takes quite some time to load, whereas "main.swf" is much lighter and loads before "bg.swf" buffers fully.
What I want to achieve is this:Create a new swf file (say "index.swf"), making sure that "main.swf" does not load until "bg.swf" loads completely under it. Note: I cannot make any edits to "main.swf" (which is like a slideshow) file and it is rendered such that it starts the slideshow after 5 seconds.
In my game, I have to catch one item and not the other. I have used an external .as file to code it and it works fine on it's own, but when I add something before the game (a title screen) and something after the game (a 'game over' screen) and 'call' the external .as file to the frame with the actual game play, I receive the error:

I have a pointer that follows the mouse movement only in determined angles. lets say the pointer can only follow the mouse when the mouse is moving below the pointer. (it rotates perfectly and smoothly to the left and right) but the thing is, lets say that the mouse is now above the pointer to the right, the pointer stays to the last permited right/down angle BUT if i go down with the mouse from the left, the pointer obviously will jump from facing right/down to facing left/down...what i would like is the pointer to make a nice transition/rotation to the inverse side...just what it does when moving the mouse from left to right, right to left (having the mouse below the pointer).
i want to know how to catch mouse event on sprite.I have created a class which extends Sprite and then tried to catch mouse event on it. but not successful.so is it neccessary to draw something on it to catch events?
It works flawlessly the other way round. I can dispatch an event in a class (extends sprite) and my main .fla does catch it. The other way round it doesn't. To transmit a number from my fla. to the class (added as child) I dispatch an event, but the class never receives it. What's wrong. Initially I wanted to dipatch the event in another class, but as far as I understood, the event would never be transmitted from the other class as events only communicate to their parents.
Hope my sketch helps a bit. Actually the image (uiloader) should transmit the loading progress directly, so the loading status bar could change its width. But as I couldn't get this to work, I started to dispatch another event from the main document which placed image and loading bar dynamically on the stage. How do I need to add the listener to the LoadingStatus.as, so that it can change the width by itself?[code]...
