I have used Actionscript 3 combined with XML to create slideshows and image galleries (almost 8) on the site. The Problem I am facing is that the when you visit site, after a little time the site starts showing lots of load on it. View 2 RepliesI am working with a project that has many scenes. Each scene has a movie clip attached to it. The first scene is simple...just a couple of buttons and that is it. My worry is that when I add all of the videos that correspond with each button and publish the SWF will be a huge file. THE QUESTION: Does flash load ALL scenes of a movie or does it load the first scene and then load the other scenes when the user needs to view them?
My ultimate goal is to just have the first scene load and then when the user clicks on the buttons contained within that scene that only upon release does the corresponding scene load. Maybe I am doing this completely wrong and should look at doing it another way.
i'm having this weird pb i don't understand, could someone help me? i'm driving crazy here..what i do is load a movie from a movie but the 2nd movie load a variable. when i test the 2nd movie, it loads its variable and displays it as wanted, but when i load it from the 1st movie, the 2nd movie loads but seem not to load anymore its variable..

I'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.

I am doing this by dragging the swf file into the flash website.This works but when the games is activated it does not work propably anymore in the new flash website..

I am loading external *.swfs into a blank movie clip that sits in the main timeline of the master movie using the following code: _root.loadMovie("module1.swf","container");
When the new movie loads, it seems to replace the entire master movie with the new *.swf. I want it to simply sit on top of the master...this is probably pretty obvious, but I appear to be missing something.

View 3 RepliesI have a html page that has a flash movie embedded in it. In the movie, when a button is pressed, it passes variables to a PHP script, processes them and then sends the variables back to the movie (all behind the scenes)... It works perfectly in Firefox, but in Safari 2.0.4 (for mac) nothing happens when I press that button...looking at the 'Activity' window in Safari, it shows the url to the php file and beside it '0 bytes of ?' indicating that it can't locate or process the page properly.
Has anyone else encountered this?
The strangest thing is that I just tested it on my older mac laptop which has Safari 1.3.2 on it, and it worked fine! ... I've never had problems with php on the 2.0.4 version of Safari before (being run on an intel iMac) ... and I tried it on another iMac in here, and it didn't work on it either!... so it must just be that version of Safari for some reason..? and I also tested this file on a PC with both IE and Firefox and it worked fine..so I'm confused as to what could be going on.
is there a way to make it so that on any one computer.. only 1 instance of my flash movie will run?Like if they go to a site.. with my flash movie on it.. and they open up another tab.. of the same page.. only one of those flash movies will run..

it is looking into the ASP file and trying to fine fileName which is the problem. the filename has a number after it, in this case it is the variable [i] but it is returning this

the Blah is the start of the address which you dont need to know about but the undefined with the number after it should be what it is loading. undefined0 should be "fileName0".
is there any way of making it think the _root.myVars.fileName + [i] is all one name?

i am working on an intro for a friend of mine and it includes a lot of individual photos. the preloader takes forever but i can figure out how to only load half of the movie instead of the entire thing before it plays. here's the code i have for the preloader itself:

Is there a way to load a movie into the flash player and play it to a viewer without installing the adobe server software and the price that goes with it? Is there a way to just have the movie file stored on the server and just get the flash player to call the file and buffer it?
