I have a map of the UK with around 30 markers on when these are clicked I need the box to appear as shown in my attachment. These all need individual data and a unique link. Could I load the clip from the library and then populate the fields using xml, could this also work for the link?

i've searched for several hours, and didn't find an answer for my problem. i'm trying to place comboboxes in a datagrid filled with DYNAMIC data. (the number and the content of these comboboxes always change. i don't know in advance how many columns there are, where i need to use comboboxes. so every single combobox gets a unique dataprovider, which comes from an external source, WHEN the program runs.)
-i found MANY threads discussing this problem, but solving via crappy mxml files, filling the comboboxes inside the sourcecode by hand. i want to point out, that isn't good for me.
-i found a better solution, in which they used some sort of custom itemrenderer to get the data from the internet. (kind of a country chooser thing) but sadly that wasn't good enough, because the number and name of the countries in the world are static more or less, they don't change. so their renderer class didn't depend on any parameters from the main algorithm.
but in my program i calculate the data in my own actionscript objects, then fill an arraylist with that. so at the beginning i load the desired data from the net, and when i get the response of the urlrequest, AFTER that i start to populate the datagrid/combobox.
i can fill any datagrid or combobox without trouble, but to put that combobox inside a datagrid cell seems to be impossible.it drives me crazy. i managed to do this in several languages before, c#, java, even php+html, but in flex it looks way too complicated then it should be.

I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor

When the user navigates to the next frame the text loaded vanishes and is replaced by another line of text. If they fail, I want to make an exception report. I cannot find any way to reference the File object from the event listener (certainly not the IO_ERROR)The best way would be to create individual event handlers for each Launcher that had the File information "hard-coded" into it. View 1 RepliesI'm dynamically loading images from a JSON feed into individual movie clips and then adding the clips to the stage(both by addChild)--basically creating thumb tiles. I've added a click handler to do something when the MC is clicked. WHAT'S MY PROBLEM: The problem I have is that the MC is clickable, but the content is not. For instance, the clip has a white box in it, and the loaded image is made slightly smaller and centered to give a white border around the pic. An empty clip loaded to the stage works fine, and the white border around the image is clickable, but the image is not.

Is there a significant savings by not adding all of them. Or better question if its imported but not used will it be added at compile time?
View 1 RepliesI am currently doing a project which involves quite a large swf file at the end. I was wondering if anyone knows a way that i can easily make it so that at the begging, when first loading up the flash, it just loads the menu and a couple of other frames, but when i go onto play the game, it will load each level just before you play it, so that the player doesnt get bored from waiting right at the begging for a while when they can wait 5 seconds before each level.
Im pretty sure ive seen this done before but im not sure whether it is preparing it in that time, or downloading it. I want it so that there will be a 10-20 second wait for the game to load up, then you go to the menu, press play, loads the next frame, or certain number of frames, you play that level, then it keeps on doing this for all the levels.
I have been goggling a lot to find anything with link-based data visualization in Flex 4. something like below screen shoot (made using Ravis). Where user can drag these nodes, without removing the links and on double click of any node we can set some properties for that particular node. I found this Ravis (Birdeye), but not much of examples and support is available for that.

I would want the Category tabs when clicked to reveal the sub categories (Accordian)I have the Spry Accordian set in a Div at the moment in Dreamweaver and the sub categories open up and function fine. What I would like to achieve is to make all those sub categories links, to insert a SWF in to the div that is located to the right of the vertical nav column. (see attachment simple diagram) So, say sub category 2a was clicked then in the 'SWF display area div', the SWF associated with that link would appear, the if 'sub category 2d' was clicked the same 'SWF area div' was populated with the SWF linked to 'sub category 2d', if 'sub category 2e' was clicked then the SWF associated with 'sub category 2e' would then load into the 'SWF area div'. The attached image may make things clearer.
I am attempting to get data from an xml file load in flash. I followed a tutorial in a new fla and it seemed to work fine, I then tried to adapt it to my own needs which worked fine. But then when trying to implement this into my news section it doesn't seem to work. I am trying to make a news section, that displays the date and news article. This is in within a movie clip, I even tried putting it in the timeline of the scene but still nothing.
- I have 2 dynamic text boxes, date_txt and news_txt
- The xml file is named news.xml,
- both the fla and the xml are in the same folder

im wondering if flash can load an image link and use flash as the container. Like uhmm, ill provide a dynamic or input text, then the user will provide the link to the dynamic/input text then after they click the "upload image" button, the image will be loaded to the movie clip container.

This component contains a large number of links and is re-used by multiple modules in the same application. Within each module, this component is used when a user clicks on a row in a datagrid. The code looks like this:
In "Requests" module:

As you can see, the visibility of individual linkbuttons is controlled within each module by setting boolean properties. If I alter this component to use a renderer, how can I control the visibility of the linkbuttons from the code in each module (there are over a hundred links with different functionality - not every link will be used in each module)? Note: it is not known from the back-end which grid within which module uses which link. This is set in the front end within each module's actionscript file. E.g., if the XML looks like this:
