View 2 RepliesIts been a while since I have posted here hope everyone has been doing well.Just had a simple question:I want to make a preloader that counts from 1 to 100% but with a stylized font and a slight blur to it kindof like this flash component:
View 3 RepliesSo there must be a million variations of questions and answers to this but I have yet to see one that works! Trust its nor for lack of trying as I think I have tried them all, so I am hoping by reposting this question that some one has found the answer. I've wracked my brain for the past 3 weeks an dthe closes i can come up with is this coding someone did in Flash 8 but aslas tis not complete or something.
code start-->
Quote:
// declare the LoadVars object that
// loads in the external text
myData = new LoadVars();
[Code]....
I have tested with the absolute URL, with and without extension (.html or .txt )
I have testes with just the filename, with and without extension again.
The text box is Dynamic, with Multiline (with wrapping) and I did press the button that says allow html rendering.
I need to load contents of an external html document through AJAX. The problem is the external page has some Flash application embedded. Now I need to show this html with the embedded flash in my own webpage.
View 1 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I created a very simple flash intro and I just need the swf file to index2a.html. The swf file sits in the html file. Here is the link http://thinkprint.at/maunz I'm using Flash CS3
View 3 RepliesI have created an application using Adobe Flex. I took all the files from the 'bin-release' folder and put it on the server. Then when someone connected to the server through http it is forwarded to the "index.htm". The "index.htm" page is the HTML page created automagically by Adobe Flex during compile time, I just renamed it to that name (from visco.html if it matters). The SWF file remained the same.
The problem is that most of the time when I go to the server, I get forwarded to the "index.htm" file and it loads the SWF perfectly. The other 30% of the time, it doesnt load! The background of the page turns blue (same as my SWF) and if I right-click it, it shows an Adobe Flash dropdown, so it looks like its sort of loading, but the application doesnt fully start even though it has been 100% reliable during debugging and when loading the SWF file manually.
What do I need to do to get the SWF file to load and start reliably?

I am trying to load formatted text from a XML file. It works when I load from a text file, but it ignores all formatting tags on a XML file. I guess it some problem with the data type.
View 8 RepliesI'm making a four column layout with four dynamic text fields and text that loads from a html file. The structure of the site and which html file is to be loaded on which page is specified in xml, but the actual content on each page needs to be editable in separate html files (different people will do the editing, and I don't want them to go around messing with the structure).
The problem is that I need the four columns of text to be loaded from a single html file. I was thinking that I could make four paragraphs <p>paragraph1</p><p>paragraph2</p> etc., one for each column, but how do I load them each into a separate dynamic text field?
So I have a dynamic text field that is loading an external .txt file with html coding in it.I can get the text to load and display properly, however I now want to make a custom scrollbar and I have no clue how to even get it to work.I've tried a few things and just can't figure it out. I want to make a custom one instead of using the component one. It doesn't even have to be a traditional scrollbar, I would much rather just use an up and down arrows. In the past I've just used buttons and placed AS directly onto them.The code that is loading the text into the text box is: (I don't know if that will help at all but I'm posting it anyways)[code]
View 3 RepliesI'm loading a textField with addChild in a movieClip and want the external text file I am loading into this textField to render in the textField as HTML. I have attached the code I am using.
View 3 RepliesI was wondering if anyone has came up with a way to float html elements, with some content, over .swf without triggering any flash events.
In my case the problem is I have flash map, and drop down menu on top of it.
I simplified this into the following example:
[URL]
If you mouseover any elements in gray box, you will see that stuff behind it, in a flash file, triggers hover effects.
new using flash, is it possible to load an html or htm file in a flash movie clip?
View 1 RepliesI want to set link of another html page on flash file.
View 1 RepliesI was reading about Flex- JavaScript communication via ExternalInterface.But I had a doubt, it said that the javascript code should be written in the HTML file of the application ? Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to place a flash file on an image at a specific location. how can i do this?
i tried something like this
<img src="images/logo.jpg"/> <object classid="homelogo"><embed src="images/logo.swf"></embed><object>
bit it did not work. how can i overlap a flash file on top on an image at a specific location?
I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger).Here is the code that embeds the ammap:
<script type="text/javascript" src="../../Content/AlcoholAndWar/WarStuff/ammap/swfobject.js"></script>
<div id="flashcontent">
[code]....
Let me give the context first. A user opens a local html file which has a reference to a network url of an swf file to embed.
(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request?
(
2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?
When I use swfobject (or, for that matter, publish from Flash)...if my HTML file is in the same folder as my Flash .swf (called "bin")...the flash file displays as a blank white page. I can tell the .swf is on the page, because when I right-click I see the flash context menu...however, the swf is blank. So the path isn't written incorrectly.If I move the HTML file inside the "bin" folder and change the path from "bin/myFile.swf" to "myFile.swf" everything works again...what gives?I think it might have something to do with using the Loader class...I am using loaders to loader external .jpeg files. But I don't know what to do about this other than to keep my HTML files in my "bin" folder which is a bit of a pain.

How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.
View 1 RepliesI'm designing a flash website for someone, and he is wondering if there's a way for me to set it up in flash but have the body of the website be in HTML so he could go in at any time and edit the website.This sounded easy enough, but after playing around with things, I'm not sure if it's possible. Is there a way to have flash load an HTML file inside a Flash file when a button is hit, etc?
View 3 Repliesi saw a bunch of tutorials about XML on kirupa, but never a real tutorial on how you can load an XML file in your swf from HTML.
I mean for my new website i need the menu to be in different languages, and it would be great if i could load the menu text via XML in my flash. And it would be way better if someone knew how i can load an XML into flash just by calling it in HTML, so i can chose different XML files every time an other language is chosen.
the entirety of the page loads, but not all of it is in the dynamic text box. If I trace the results of the onData, the whole page shows up in the outbox window, but scrolling all the way down (using the attached UIScrollBar component that comes with Flash) only takes me maybe a quarter of the way through.
View 8 RepliesI'm importing an XML document into a flash movie. The XML is using HTML tags so that I can highlight certain words and use HTML links in the text field the data is being loaded into.
But the issue I'm having is that all of the < and > tags and all information within it being displayed within the text field.
The text field's html property is true. The text field's multiline property is true. In the XML document, the text that I'm having load into this text field is separated by the CDATA tag so that it doesn't get parsed out.
I just can't figure it out. Before I used the CDATA tag, I put all the necessary < and > tags in place, and I'm getting the same results.
I don't know why everything is being displayed even though I'm rendering this text as HTML.
I would like someone to tell me if there is a way to load html or php page in flash just like a movieclip without actually navigating from the flash player(by using getURL code). Basically, I am wondering if there is a way to load a html file just like we load movieclips and perform all the functions of html page.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to load HTML content into Flash from a URL and print it with PrintJob() with Actionscript 3 without the Windows print dialog showing?

I was wondering if its possible to load specific content from a html page into a flash textfield. For example html content that is within a specified div/class tag of a webpage?The reason for me needing to know if its possible is that I've soon to work on a project that involves using an old Java CMS that will work with Flash but all i've come across so far is loading html pages into flash without the header html and body tags or by using xml and text files.
View 3 RepliesI have recently uploaded a website (using a temporary page for the first couple of days) but on the Gallery page of my site, the Flash file loads up to 95% and then stops. Link to the page is below:
