ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading External HTML File In Flash CS3
Sep 28, 2009
So there must be a million variations of questions and answers to this but I have yet to see one that works! Trust its nor for lack of trying as I think I have tried them all, so I am hoping by reposting this question that some one has found the answer. I've wracked my brain for the past 3 weeks an dthe closes i can come up with is this coding someone did in Flash 8 but aslas tis not complete or something.
code start-->
Quote:
// declare the LoadVars object that
// loads in the external text
myData = new LoadVars();
[Code]....
I have tested with the absolute URL, with and without extension (.html or .txt )
I have testes with just the filename, with and without extension again.
The text box is Dynamic, with Multiline (with wrapping) and I did press the button that says allow html rendering.
I need to load contents of an external html document through AJAX. The problem is the external page has some Flash application embedded. Now I need to show this html with the embedded flash in my own webpage.
So I have a dynamic text field that is loading an external .txt file with html coding in it.I can get the text to load and display properly, however I now want to make a custom scrollbar and I have no clue how to even get it to work.I've tried a few things and just can't figure it out. I want to make a custom one instead of using the component one. It doesn't even have to be a traditional scrollbar, I would much rather just use an up and down arrows. In the past I've just used buttons and placed AS directly onto them.The code that is loading the text into the text box is: (I don't know if that will help at all but I'm posting it anyways)[code]
I'm loading a textField with addChild in a movieClip and want the external text file I am loading into this textField to render in the textField as HTML. I have attached the code I am using.
I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
(for this code, check the mcBandPreloader in de .fla file)
Code: var imageLoader:Loader; var RespJpeg:String = "images/arch1Proj.jpg" function loadImage(url:String):void {
[Code]....
Here the problem is that I can't type html in my external txt file. (I did checked the html button in Dynamic Text Properties. What am I doing wrong here?
I currently pull an html file into our site via iframe. (due to various factors, I cannot host the information in the html on our site and need to host it elsewhere). Is it possible to use a loader or other method to pull this information into flash?
I used Dreamweaver to embed my flash file into an html file, using "Insert-->Media-->Flash".When I preview the file, everything works fine, but when I upload the file to the web, the external links to my blog and e-mail will not work. Before, I just had the flash file up, with no html, and it worked fine.Url...
I got my HTML embedded in my flash file, finally!But now I want some parts of the text that is in the HTML file to link to a specific label in flash itself.What variable can I use for this? or even a Href link?
Is there any way to embed Flash completely in HTML, without reference to an external SWF file? I ask because I would like to send an HTML file as an email attachment that the recipient will open in a browser and fill out as a form. The last step is that they will copy the result to their clipboard, paste it into a new message, and email it back. I cannot reliably copy to the clipboard with JavaScript because of the security issues, but there are simple Flash apps to add that capability.
I know I could just display the response text (which will be Base64 encoded) to the recipient and have them copy/paste, but it would be nice to provide this small convenience to them. Also, so you are aware, the text is often too large to include in an email using mailto. Yes. This needs to be done via email. The users have slow, occasional satellite email access and no other data connection to the interwebs. To make things worse, I cannot make them install anything. It is a difficult situation.
I have an HTML page with buttons. Each button needs to have a getURL to open the Flash site, but then somehow, needs to also load the appropriate swf into that Flash site... My reasoning is because I have some scripts under my site that need to be in HTML (or PHP) for search engines, that way I don't have to do the whole site in HTML.. I hate having a HTML index page, but it's the only solution I could come up with. So, when a visitor selects any of the navigation buttons, I don't want them to have to select that button again, when the Flash site loads. how to do this for Flash 7 / AS 2.0? Or if there are any posts here about it?
In my flash, the socket server returns some xml data that I need to parse, but it seems that the only way to start the XML object is with the XML.Load() which loads an external file, but my XML file is already loaded into a variable
trace("raw: "+msg); msgArea.htmlText += "update remote player loc"; var playerLocXMLOb = new XML(msg);
I'm new to using AS3.0 so I'm building the audio/video page for my group's website and I already have a seperate mp3 player and a video player I want to put on one flash file. I would just paste all the layers for both players on one file but the mp3 player is AS2.0 and that causes a problem. I tried to load both swf in AS2.0 but the only way I know how to do it is through an on release script from a button. I want the swfs to appear when loaded without having to use an on release function. I'm using the xspf player [URL] and this video player I found from the techlabs. [URL]. I tried to take an easy way out and just insert both swfs onto my dreamweaver file but when I test the site the video player won't appear.
I am trying to load an external swf file. The swf width and height is small and I want to enlarge it when loading it. (My scene has large width and height). My current code could load the file but I am not sure how to enlarge the swf width and height.
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.swf"); var loader:Loader = new Loader() loader.load(request); addChild(loader);
So I got two flash movies. A big one and a small one. I want to display the small one into the big one. Additionally I want the ability to resize it, load it at certain frame in the clip and apply some sort of tween/fade in effect to the loaded swf, but first things first.
I've got a movieclip with a blank dynamic textbox inside. On frame 1 of this movieclip, I have the actionscript to load the contents of an external .txt file into the dynamic textbox. The problems are:
1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing. 2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does. 3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.
I'm loading a external text file to flash and according to the number present in the text file i'm trying to do a IF - ELSE command. It's not working coz the value I load from the external file is string. How can i get this as intiger.
i am having problem with loading external text or html content code works on main timeline it loads whole html contents with image but i move it in movieclip the only text just disappears.i tried to load it through external swf file but the text is still invisible
I'm having trouble and I was hoping someone could shed some light on what I'm doing wrong. I have a main .swf file from which external .swf files are being loaded through the use of buttons.When I preview the animation, everything works just fine. The problem occurs when I put the animation on the website where it needs to be. The main animation appears like it's supposed to, but the buttons are not successful in loading the external .swf files. I've made sure that all .swf files are on the server but still nothing.
Here's the AS:
stop(); var presentationLoader:Loader = new Loader(); addChild(presentationLoader);
I have an swf movie embedded into HTML (it's designed to work as a webpage) but for some reason my links to load external swf movies into a placeholder don't work when the main movie is embedded, but are fine in a flash player.
i am a webdesigner i do flash layouts and animation and trying to learn as2, I have a problem with one of my projex, 1=i hav to load an xternal swf video in flash 8 file, 2=at the end of playing video i have to automatically go to nxt html page. 3= i was able to do all the stuff using tutorials but in slow internet speed,my page switches to next page before completely playing the clip. well i can show u the code i used for loading video.
[Code]...
my videos duration was 75 frames,so i tried a trick,i made a mc of 90 frames and at the end of it gave the code.so at completion of 90 frms it switches to html i want that the video should play completely and switch to html.
I am trying to load an external variable text file into a movie but it is returning compiler errors. Please suggest a solution. The source code is ......
var myTextLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); myTextLoader.DataFormat=URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIAB LES; myTextLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded);
[code]....
The external file is "gxcvrt.txt" while name, slogan, rep, button1-7 are the variables to be loaded.The compiler returns the following errors (highlighted in red)
Line 4 '{' expected Source = function onLoaded(e:Event) :void {
I am trying to import a SWF file into a custom loader and then treat the loaded SWF file as a MovieClip object. The code for the functionality can be seen below.
public function loadMyMovie(movie:String) { var now:Date = new Date(); var rnd:String = "?randomize=" + now.time;
[Code].....
When I do this I get the following error.
"Implicit coercion of a value with static type flash.display:DisplayObject to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip."
