ActionScript 3.0 :: Open A Specific Browser I.e. Firefox?
Mar 22, 2012
I would like to be able to open a specific browser and then go to a URL. What I mean is if the user has a Flash website open in IE I need for them to click on a button and this will open the link in Firefox. Is this possible?
Background...Our company uses Internet Explorer 6 as it's main browser on all employee PC's and for technical reasons IE cannot be updated. The problem is that the website App that I want to open has to be opened in a modern browser, the App will not run on an old browser such as this. Firefox is installed on all PC's, for this reason, but I cannot be sure the user has opened my website up in Firefox therefore I must check that they are using Firefox if not then it has to be opened first.
I am having a problem. I found the actionscript 2 code to open a browser window, but it is not working in Safari, or Firefox. I found an old action script 1 file version 5 for the flash player that works just fine, but I am using 8 and actionscript 2 so that doesn't work for me.
Is there a work around to the getURL Firefox issue? I am having trouble getting Firefox to open my file from my exe when FF is set to my default browser. If FF is already open, the getURL functions fine. If FF is closed, I have to click on my button twice in order to open the file (ie, click once opens a blank window, click again and the file opens) I have FF 2.0.0.1, Flash MX 2004 Prof. I have tried setting an interval to have the getURL fire again but I can't seem to get it to work.
I need to made a Browser windows before that i open the Flash movie, like this one: [URL] So i need somme kind of pop up to run when somme one opens the site, and then see the movie.
By default Firefox opens urls set to 'new window' in a new firefox tab instead. Is there any way to force Firefox to open a new window?This doesn't work in Firefox: it opens a new tab window instead of a real new window. How can I make Firefox open a new window? Without the popup blocker blocking it?
I can not get my pages where I have swf files to open in firefox. I have several pages with sound also and they will not open. here is the code that I am using. I have probably 8 pages of flash and the rest of the pages are javascript and html.
I have a pdf which opens when a button is clicked on and i was wondering if there is a way that i can force it to open in adobe reader instead of ie or firefox?
An old discussion - but still relevant: Does anyone know a script for a button making it able to close a Firefox browser window (on a mac)?
I have tried 1) variants of "javascript:window.close()" and 2) to make the button open a new window in itself, which immediately afterwards closes itself...
Question regarding runnning mouse scroll action in Firefox, I have a rotating menu which uses mouse scroll to rotate a wheel, it works in IE7 great but when view in firefox the mouse scroll does not work!
flash menu i have create for my web site it works 100% in microsoft explorer but in fire fox or safari i have a problem. The menu is set to transparent as their are drop down menus from main nav bar, in fire fox you can see the text just below the menu bar but cannot touch any links but in explorer you can no problems.This the code:
Can anyone give me a clue as to why this markup works fine in Safari, but not in Firefox?This should load an ugly blue placeholder (which I get in safari) but in Firefox, swfobject just gives me the alternative content.[code]
I'm using ActionScript to listen for key presses and route to a method to handle them. It works fine in Flash Player Debugger 10.1, but does not work with the SWF in a browser. I've tried it with all sorts of keys: letters, numbers, etc. But I can't get it to work at all in the browser. I'm using Safari 5.1 and Firefox 3.6.8 on the Mac. Here's my relevant code:
There is a wide known issue with printing of Flash content in Firefox and Chrome browsers.So,one solution was created by "AnyCharts".But it seems not to work.I also tried to implement the latest version of the component that is now hosted and Google Code.I did exactly as the manual prescribes but it still doesn't work.AnyChart guys say on their blog page that something should be done with CSS as well ,but as you can see from the manual at Flash-Print-Fix home page ,there is no mention about CSS setup. My code works like this:
I have created a flash website and I would like to create links to specific frames of an external swf in another html page. I have researched flashvar a little bit and I have also been told that I am going to need to do some dynamic coding.
PageFlip v2.25 from UrL...Need to have the book automatically open to page 4 when loaded. Or open and skip to page 4 in the animation. It seems there is some commented out actionscript to do this but I am not sure how to put it into a working function.[code]
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to save a specific set of open files in Flash so that when you close the app and then reopen it, you would either see the files that were open when you closed Flash or at least have the option to select it and it woud then open those files in the order that you left them.
With all my class files open at one time, I hate having to reload them into the order that makes sense to me every time I launch Flash.I was looking into the Projects panel which seems like it's in the direction of what I would like but I can't seem to find anwhere that saves open files.
I have a main website witch has a photo gallery, in an album for example I have 5 photos in thumbnail mode, I created an independent slide show in SWF called genova.swf where I have inside the 5 high res. photos found as thumbnail in the main website, and I used the following script to call it :
var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); mcLoader.addListener(this); function onLoadInit(mc:MovieClip) { mc.close_btn.onRelease = function() {
[Code]....
I would like to have an action script that permits me to click on a thumbnail and to load the genova.swf to a specific frame, that way if the user need to see immediately photo #3 without having to cycle through photo #1 and #2 he would click on the thumbnail photo #3 in the main website and the genova.swf will popup at image 3 from the slideshow.
I wrote an flash actionscript 3.0 movie that needs to use netconnection and netstream for streaming. When I test the movie through flash ide the movie connects alright.But when I insert the swf in html and view from firefox, chrome or other browser NetConnection.connect() does not work. Movie sort of hangs at the moment NetConnection.connect is called(). The function assigned to NetStatusEvent is not called and no command after that moment is carried out.It only occurs when viewed through web browser but when it is tested in flash ide it works alright.
<script>window.resizeTo(350, 500);</script> that is what I did it works but is there anyway I can get rid of the menu bars and scroll for the windowresize?
Im here to ask a probably dumb question again. This is related to my previous questions. I current found a way for flash/flex to send a video file(in byteArray) to php. Where php receives and writes it in the local sytem then sends it to the youtube server automatically trhu a script.This is all backend though I have no way to check if the video file was uploaded succesfully in youtube than to check it manually in youtube.
So im thinking of a new php script where it will receive and write the video file from flash. Then opening a browser window where it will automatically upload the video and at the same time track it thru the browser of its status using debug prints perhaps.
Im barely still learning php. I tried to do some research on this but found no success.
I'm running an online game site, and a few websites are really bad about embedding some of my games and stealing bandwidth.
To combat this, I replaced the original files with super-simple .swf files that redirected back to my own websites -- thus stealing back the traffic that they were stealing from me.
The problem came later when something changed with the new Flash player, and new windows no longer opened. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get new windows to open. I've tried a few different approaches, but nothing appears to work.
So what I'm wondering is, can this even be done anymore -- where I can switch out a .swf that's being leeched with one that opens a window to my own site?
I am making my website's nav bar in flash. I want some of the buttons to open new browser windows to display aspx/html files. Is this possible using actionscript 3.0?
I am using flash 8 or flash mx, and I want to open a web site and some pdf files. I have my projector set to fullscreen but when I open a web site or a pdf file these files open behind my projector so my final user doesn't realize that the pdf files or the web site is displayed. How can I force the web site or the pdf file to open on top of my projector or is there a way to minimize my projector when I click these buttons so the user realizes that these files opened.
I'm trying to create a page where you click on the video thumbnail and the video opens up in its own window. I'd like the video to open at a specific size that I determine, not the browser, and I want it to be scalable. Here is what I have so far as a test file[URL]
download_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onDownload); function onDownload(e:MouseEvent):void { var dl_request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(current_url); try { navigateToURL(dl_request, '_blank');
[Code]...
Basically, this is a button that (when clicked) is supposed to allow the user to download an MP3 file. It works as planned except that when the button is clicked, the MP3 just opens up in the browser or in Windows Media Player or whatever default "playing" application the user has. I want it to work in the same way as when you right-click a link and choose "Save Link As..." so that when they click it they actually will save the MP3 file itself to their computer (so, the "Save" dialog box will pop up when they click the link), instead of the file just opening/playing.
