I've got a document reader application that I'm trying to add a print option to, but I'm having real difficulties with PrintJobs.On my first attempt, I prepared all my pages in advance, then called PrintJob.start, followed by PrintJob.addPage for each page, then PrintJob. send to finish.On longer documents, however, this was falling foul of the script execution time limits.I could get 90-100 pages spooled before the runtime threw an exception and cut the print run short.On my second attempt, I prepared all my pages in advance again, then called PrintJob.start.I then tried using an event handler to call addPage for each page (first using the frame_enter event, then using a timer). However, calling PrintJob.addPage from an event handler like this caused an exception to be thrown.I've been tearing my hair out all afternoon trying to find a solution to this -- does anybody have any idea how I can get long PrintJobs to work?
My Flex 3 app prints pages just fine from browsers on Windows using FlexPrintJob (not the browser print function). However, on OSX, the left and top margins show up larger and the page gets pushed off the right and bottom. Basically, the scaling is screwed up, and I can't see any way to adjust the margins in code.Has anyone seen this discrepancy in Flex printing between Windows and OSX? Are there any known workarounds? I've searched all over and I can't find any good info on this (other than 12 unresolved printing bugs in the Adobe Jira DB)
PDF Generation is one route and while its a valid solution for some folks, I need to print directly. I'd like to see stuff like using regular Flash PrintJob, monkeypatches to FlexPrintJob, or just ways I can format my DisplayObjects before sending them to FlexPrintJob. None of the scaling options in FlexPrintJob work. My Flex Component is at 1.0 scale. I'm not sure what else I can do except for mess around with regular PrintJob.

I am printing a dynamic text from flash. Every thing works fine, But I get unwanted spaces/ small boxes at the end of every page. Using string functions I tried to remove the last character if it is a space.Even though I am getting this problem.
I'm trying to print an MC that is on screen with a dynamic text field in the MC - its printing just fine but the placement of one of the elements is off. Basically I have a dynamic text field centered on the stage, however when I print it, the text field moves to the very right on the printed page, while the rest of the contents of the MC stay centered. To clarify on the printed page I basically have this nice page with centered text, but the dynamic textfield is moved all the way to the right of the page.
I have a sprite that has a scrollbar that uses the scrollrect feature. The sprite has several bitmaps and textfields. When I print the outer sprite (The one with the scrollrect) all of the textfields outside the scrollrect are cut after the first line. In case anyone else is having problems with printing sprites with scrollrects using the bitmap printing option fixes and prints most of the stuff in the sprite. Excluding all textfields outside of the scrollrect. This however can be fixed partially by embedding your fonts.
So now the only problem left is printing multiline textfields that are outside the scrollrect. P.S. Imho the scrollrect should have nothing to do with the printed area of the sprite because the printJob.addPage has a printarea parameter.
i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I have a datagrid with some custom renderrers and I'm just curious how I should approach the ability to freeze and always show the left 3 most columns at all times when scrolling left/right.
I thought that I might have to resort to 2 datagrids, side-by-side, the first showing the 3 columns that I want at all times, and the ability to scroll the rest. Only issue then I guess is linking the row selection to select that row in both and to tie the column sorts together...
Or would it be better to try and take columns 4+ and shrink their width to 0 as a person scrolls right, and then increase it back to the max width as they scroll left? Though that would cause funny issues to happen as the content of the datagrid would get smaller and smaller until you were 100% to the right and the scrollbar would disappear.

I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?
Both have single columns. Selecting one item from Divsions datagrid should display members of that Division in the Members datagrid. But following code has some problem and Members of a particular division do not show up when respective Divsion is clicked.

For poor performance reasons, the DataGrid will cache checkboxes and reuse them for different rows. If you have 50 rows, it won't create 50 checkboxes. It will create as many checkboxes at are visible, plus a few more for padding, and then reuse them as you scroll. This is why you need to explicitly manage their state. How can improve it ? I have a master page and a child page and have placed the javascript code inside the child page for flash movie.
The problem is the movie seems working when there is a alert on, without at least one alert msg, the code does not work, I am sure you people can solve, I can see that the following code works well in both Mozilla and IE, but only if the alert is ON, if I put it off, then the code does not work. Can anybody tell me what is the workaround :
I am building a map which has different layers on it, all on top of one another, all 700x700px and all movieclips. I have a print button (PrintUp) which sends the movieclips to be printed, however when I print, they don't sit on top of one another, they come out separately. How can I get them to print on top of each other like they are in the swf?
The two movieclips are "Background" and "Grass" Both 700x700 and exactly the same X&Y.

I have a game I'm adding a print button to, for users to print their score at the end of the game. The problem is, is that the printing make some of the buttons look weird, for some reason (color is missing, a white box around the button, that should be empty/transparent). I am having trouble exporting a movie from within flash player into a .eps for importing into Illustrator. I cannot use the native scene items for export within Flash CS3, since the content is dynamically generated when the movie is played, and would need to save the outcome. I am working in Master Suite CS3, so dont want to do anything that involves exporting into Corel or other suites.
I am trying to print my Flash work out to an EPS/Illustrator compatible file so that it can be opened in illustrator and printed.Used to be able to use the Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS printer driver but I am unable to find it anywhere. Is anyone else using any other updated drivers/techniques?
Is there any way to print all code and scripts that are inside of (and ideally, even imported into a .fla?? I've been brought on board a project with existing code, and I am having a real hard time discovering all the little hidden code bits inside of the Flash file. There's script attached to objects, script in imported .as files....there's script everywhere...and I don't know of any way to -see- all of it and print it out so I can go over it.For instance, in the Actions window, it'd be nice if I could right-click on "Scene 1" and select "Print" and have all of those little scripts print out.Even a way to do a "Flash-file-wide" (including all imported script files) Find/Search would be nice (something similar to Dreamweaver's site-wide "Find and Replace"). It seems like Flash limits its searches to the exact file window you have open at the time.
In particular, I'm currently looking for a function that is called - but whose code I cannot find anywhere. A "Find" inside the main .fla turns up nothing, and I've tried searching the outside .as files and still can't locate it. In s Flex 3 app, I have canvas with a PNG image for a background. The image is the same width & height as the canvas. I also have some other controls in the canvas:
where i developed an app that uses the webcam, adds an image and then takes a picture, well, i implemented textbook style the printjob, and well everytime after printing my swf goes blank. http:[url]...........But now i have been continuing testing, and i found out, that if i print from another application and then comeback, my video stream from the webcam is blank, this has no sense at all, since i am printing from another app. http:[url]....What is going on here i mean, this must be a flash player issue right.
I have a app writing in Flex AS4. Now I have a component and I need to print it using FlexPrintJob. However, every time when users need to print it in landscape mode, he/she has to click the "Properties" button in the dialog of print and change the orientation from portrait to landscape and it is really annoying.
I wander if there is a way to control it in programming? In other words, can I change some codes to set the default properties of printers to print it in landscape mode?
I want to print the entire page from my flash application irrespective of the size which I have given. I know this can be done through scale-to-fit. I have a page that is loading external variables / images into the swf flash file, then comes to a stop on the last frame.
I need to print this exactly how it is on your screen on that last frame, with all the external images that have been preloaded etc etc. Exactly how you see it.
