ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing Splash Screen Using Button In Movieclip?

I have created a shooting game and I am struggling to create a splash screen at the beginning informing the user of the controls with a button to start the game, which removes the splash screen. I am trying to add the splash screen in the main timeline using addChild event. I can get the splash screen to appear on the game and remove it when the playgame button is pressed, but this prevents all the other event listeners so I am not able to fire or move the ship.
In the splash screen I have the code :

I wanted to know what is the best way of centering an AIR application onto the screen. i am trying to add a splash screen and thats just appearing on the top left corner instead of center I have read about using some function known as CAPABILITIES which gets u the screen resolution and then subtracting the application width and height...
I've read all threads here already about this subject. For most AdobeAir projects for Android, no matter what size, it could take up to 20 sec to load the app, and while it loads, all you see is a black screen. As there's no support for a Default.png like there is for iPhone, we have to use a preloader.
I've only found one for Flex, which is no good to me as I'm using Flash Pro 5.5 (IDE). I've tried doing some simple preload-a-swf-preloader but it just loads it to 100% before showing anything anyway. Anyone here that can share a script of a simple preloader for Flash CS5.5? I know that to reduce the loading time and show a splash screen on android we need to make a very small swf that will contain the loading screen image, and that same swf will also preload the maingame.swf (but can that be done? Appstore don't like code in more than one swf) into it. My tries have failed.
Is it possible to have a library of PDF documents (files in a folder), and create a splash screen in Flash, even if its a AirApplication, that can search the documents for specific words? I am trying to create a PDF search tool that I can be delivered via CD.

I have many buttons (symbols). This is what I want it to do: -Select a button on the screen, and then a movieclip plays. - If the user selects any OTHER button on screen, a message box displays a message.
I'm a beginner level student. My project is to create a Splash Intro and a 4 page Website (Home page and 4 internal pages). I have to use Flash (no HTML, Java, CSS, etc). We are using Flash CS3 with Action Script 3. The Splash Intro should play continuously. This part I have working like a charm. However, the project requires a Skip Intro button. I have made the Skip intro button and gave the "instance" a name. The next part is where I'm stuck. I want to be able to click on the Skip Intro button and go to the first page of my "Website." I have all of my pages on one timeline. No movie clips. This is very basic.
My Home page has some animation on it. My name comes in from the left and three buttons come in from the right. When the user clicks on the Skip Intro button, I want it to go to the Home page, play the brief animation and STOP. I don't want the Skip Intro button to just go to frame 40 (for example) and just stop. And, if it goes to frame (50) for example and stops the user will miss the animation (right?). Here is what I have but it doesn't work:
I have started this animation and I am turning rain drops into movie clips with a small splash animation in the clip. I can just copy and paste them so I won't have to animate each one or do programming. When I test this with the swf file they turn out fine. But when I try to export this into a jpeg/png,or avi the full animation in the movie clip doesn't work. It just shows the first frame. Is there a way to make this work since I would really like the single jgep files or avi since I need to transfer this to other programs. I thought there was a way to do this but I cannot remember or I don't know if they changed it with cs4 XD.
I have 5 movieClip buttons. I want the GALLERY button to stay on the stage at all times, "which it does" but i want when the user clicks on 1 of the other 4 buttons for the remaining 3 to disappear. Example... when the user clicks on the KIDS button, the COUPLES, PORTRAITS AND BELLIES buttons disappear, or when the user clicks on COUPLES, for the KIDS, PORTRAITS AND BELLIES buttons to disappear, and so on.
i found a script that unloads my external swf inside a movieclip when i click a button on my main screen. this script causes the external flash inside my moviclip to close and unload when i click the close button, which is what i want!. the only pain in the butt is it preloads the external flash when you go the flash site and i dont want that. i only want the script to close the external swf. if anyone is curious book.swf is the swf in the movieclip i am trying to close.[code]
currently i am removing objects when they reach the edge of the screen with

i understand this does not delete the object? without removing event listeners before removing the object the error log fills up, i believe its due to the stage isnt there after its removed. this makes me think that removechild does not delete the object? i will be creating and deleting many objects during runtime, and i dont want to slow down or use too much memory, how to properly free up the object
Is there a way to remove a class linked to a movieclip? For instance, I've got a ball (e.g. ball0_mc) that's placed in a target. The way the ball is dragged and dropped into a target is by using a class called Ball. What I would like to do is remove the Ball class from ball0_mc once it's been placed in a target so that it can't be dragged or dropped anymore.

When I do removeChild on playScreen, the movieclip just becomes invisible, it doesn't actually get REMOVED. Is it possible to delete a movieclip that you've created just like that?
im creating a game where when the spacebar is pressed the character attacks with a sword.the sword is an animated movieclip and at the end of the movieclip i have a his.parent.removeChild(this); to remove the movie clip but i get an errorCode:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

I have a MovieClip that I dynamically add other MCs as children to. Now I'd like to have a function that removes ALL children at once. I tried a loop with (i < mc.numChildren) but somehow it will only remove even-numbered children, the odd ones stay on stage?
I have random buttons on the stage that I have set up so each one, when clicked, will load different movieclip.These movieclips load directly on top of each other in the exact same place.The problem I'm having is the previous movieclip does not clear off the stage when the the next button is clicked.I need to set up a condition that will remove the current movieclip when another button is selected to load the next movieclip.Below is part of my code that needs editing. I've been researching switch, else, and other conditional statements but can't figure out how to make this happen.I have the fla or swf file for viewing, let me know.
I placed a movieclip on the stage, what functions are there to remove it? removeMovieClip(target); Only seems to work on MCs which have been attached to the stage E.g. attachMovieClip(); The _visible property keeps the movieclip there just keeps it invisible. What completely removes it? It is called tankCPU.
In my document class I have assigned the root of fla to theRoot movieclip as theRoot = MovieClip(this.root); And as my program proceeds I have added several childs to theRoot. Now at the end of my program I need to delete all the childs of theRoot. So,how can I do this without individually deleting single childs.
In my .fla file, I have a MovieClip (we'll call it Clip1) linked to a corresponding class defined in a separate .as file.There's a case where I want to create a new MovieClip (Clip2) where Clip1 is, then remove Clip1. This case is dealt with by a function in Clip1's class.So, when I get to removing I do:ActionScript Code:this.parent.removeChild(this)Now, if the DocumentClass created Clip1 and placed it on the screen, this goes fine. But if Clip1 was placed on the stage in the .fla file (by dragging and dropping), it looks like Clip1 is not removed. I think it does get removed, but for some reason it gets recreated. This is the problem.
i am having trouble with removing a movieclip off the stage, i am using removechild but i get an error:

I have a function called changeMovie which is supposed to load a new movie/swf into a already established container.I can get the new movie to load (all these movies have sound embedded in them) but I can not figure out how to get the old movieclip out of memory.I can foresee an instance of memory overload in my application down the line.I am using Flash CS3 with AS3.[code]As it stands now, I can get the new movie to play and be shown but the old movie clip still continues to play "in the background - along with its sound".
