Is it possible to have a library of PDF documents (files in a folder), and create a splash screen in Flash, even if its a AirApplication, that can search the documents for specific words? I am trying to create a PDF search tool that I can be delivered via CD.

"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
"E:DataProcessors.swf"
not found but i have those lib files on
"E:in-debugDataProcessors.swf"..
what could be the possible errors.
I basically comed the web for an answer but found nothing.How would one be able to set a splash screen for an AIR application built in flash.
View 2 RepliesI am having problems with building my webpage with Flash. I have imported the the swf files I want in my library but when I try to put them into folders my computer seems to seize up and takes a few minutes to do the job and can be very slow and I am unable to anything on PC while it is doing this. I have not incounted this problem before on my PC but I have had it for over 5 years now and I am due to buy a new PC in spring next year when Windows 7 is released on all new PCs. I am using windows XP with all the updates available plus upgraded to 1GB memory last year. Is my PC to old to work with FLASH CS3 or is it another problem entirely?

For most AdobeAir projects for Android, no matter what size, it could take up to 20 sec to load the app, and while it loads, all you see is a black screen. As there's no support for a Default.png like there is for iPhone, we have to use a preloader.
I've only found one for Flex, which is no good to me as I'm using Flash Pro 5.5 (IDE). I've tried doing some simple preload-a-swf-preloader but it just loads it to 100% before showing anything anyway. Anyone here that can share a script of a simple preloader for Flash CS5.5? I know that to reduce the loading time and show a splash screen on android we need to make a very small swf that will contain the loading screen image, and that same swf will also preload the maingame.swf (but can that be done? Appstore don't like code in more than one swf) into it. My tries have failed.

I have created a shooting game and I am struggling to create a splash screen at the beginning informing the user of the controls with a button to start the game, which removes the splash screen. I am trying to add the splash screen in the main timeline using addChild event. I can get the splash screen to appear on the game and remove it when the playgame button is pressed, but this prevents all the other event listeners so I am not able to fire or move the ship.
In the splash screen I have the code :

View 0 RepliesJust fired up Flash CS5 to a surprise. My screen-based SWF from years ago will no longer load. how does one achieve the equivelant of nested screens in CS5 now? I have outer chrome that's common to all screens and switch between nested screens to show different shared form screens that get populated with content from a database. Short of duplicating the shared content over and over, how do you get the layered effect I'm after? Does everyone simply jump around on the master timeline? Or does CSS play a role here?
View 1 RepliesI am working in two different applications, one to be compiled for desktop use (AIR) and one to be compiled for the web. They are part of the same project and use the same visual components, but they are completely different apps. When a visual component is changed in one application then it should also change in the other one. Is this a good situation to use a shared library fla? I am new to the concept of shared libraries and I am considering the options.
On one had I would not have to update 2 applications everytime I change something, on the other, I would always have to recompile the library folder when I do the smallest changes to a component.
How can we import images using AS3 code so that when they are imported once will remain in the library forever..
View 3 RepliesI'm creating a mask effect. i create 10 movieclip with a library class reference that appear on the screen with a random alpha effect. THe problem is that if i try the effect alone all works ok. if i mask the layer that contains the effect on an image i don't see the effect. i see directly the image masked with the boxes. i can't explain that because i've the effect first but it seems that when i test the movie the effect doesn't play and the boxes appear directly on the screen.

View 4 RepliesIve just finished a flash web site that ive used a lot of XML for loading my images from thumbnails. Its works great.
Except it takes maybe 3-4 minutes to load. I think whats happening is its loading all the images in that XML file before it even shows the first thumbnail, so thats like 2MB its loading.
Is there a way to preload all of the xml files at the start on my Flash splash page?

I'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.

However, this is going to be used as a widget that people can embed on their site, I can specify the full URL to the icons folder and the app works, but to save bandwidth I've imported the images into the flash library under the folder "icons". All I need to do is set the path variable to the icons folder in library and it should work by the loading the images from the library rather than loading the images from my site.

View 4 RepliesOn this page are listed Source, Library, and External Library lists. I am working on a large flash project with hundreds of files. It appears that CS4 caches a copy of my fla's similarily named folders here, EVERY time I publish my files. These lists are now hundreds and hundreds of items long. I want to clear these lists, but the only option I can find is the minus sign.
Is there a way to wipe these lists clean, or, does anyone know an external xml file or such (i have serached), where this data is stored so I can manually remove it.
I have seen that exporting with AS3 from library is a lot better than loading a whole music loop. ie: A tenth of the size so would it be best to always do it that way for a game for example.But if I'm building an English teaching app with 100's of words and sentences it's easier to connect up via xml and load from folder. Which would be the best option here?
