I have to make this analog clock for a university assignment and despite some really good efforts last night and tonight I just can't work out how to get it fully working. There is both a digital and analog clock; the digital clock works fine, but the analog clock just starts from a random time whenever I play the test movie. I am supposed to use the date object, not the timer object. And I am also supposed to add a sound every minute - I have added the sound to the minutes layer and selected but I don't know where to go from there. I seem to be able to find lots of example code for the timer object but not the date.
this.addEventListener("enterFrame",clockHandler); false, 0, true; function clockHandler(e:Event) {[code].....
can you tell me if it is possible to detect if an object is rotating anti clockwise or not? at present i get x,y co-ords and use the code below to rotate it which is fine. now i could write an if statement to check if rotation is negative or positive but because rotation can be negative and positive when rotating clockwise and anti clockwise this wouldnt work.

I wrote an application in flash AS3, and when I trace from flash the total memory usage of the total application is only about 9MB, But at the same time Task Manager Shows the memory usage as 110MB. Around 100MB difference.Flash Trace Method System.totalMemory difference of the Trace from the Beginning of the application to end of the application.
I have a bit trouble with LoaderMax memory occupy, i have a queue, and i am keep loading images depend on user's action. if they click load more and it keep load, but i would like to clean the memory which been occupied by the previous queue (i have remove all the children been added by the loading previously). is there a way i can do it? the behavior like this.
I have an FPS monitor running and notice that I am getting choppiness here and there, bringing my game from 40 to 27 fps and back and forth at certain stages. I have an idea of where it is happening, but do not know for sure. I looked up quite a few memory monitors but haven't found anything decent yet. Is there a memory monitor that allows you to see the memory leaked and find its location? If not, how about just he memory leaked?
I made a flash movie. I create a analog clock separately with AS3 which worked perfectly - hour and minute hand is moving. I need to import the analog clock into my movie. After import, the clock hour and minute hand does no move anymore - I believe AS3 is not executed. May I know what is the proper way to insert a AS3 object such as an analog clock into a movie scene that last for eg. 10 secs? (the hour and minute hand move in this 10sec frame before the whole clock disappear).
I'm making an isometric game and I need to know which takes less memory for scrolling, making everything invisible that you can't see? Like if(!this.base.hitTest(worldHitter))this._visible = false; Or would it be better to remove the movieclips unseen and then reattach them when i should see them?
basically i want to build a flash based mechanical clock. I have all my gears with the correct ratios. I could have them all rotate via timeline animation but i would prefer not to make a 17000 frame animation when i could probably code it much more efficiently. So say gear A is rotating at one revolution per second CW. how could I code gear B to rotate a full revolution CCW every 10 times gear A revolves. then have gear C rotate once CW every time gear B rotates 6 times.
I'm seeing lots of cool clocks made in flash, but they load the time based on your machine's date and time. I want to construct a clock which takes the time from an official time server so it will always be up to date.
I'm trying to find a way to stop my clock from ticking using event handlers. I almost have it, but for some reason the second hand (the one im only testing at the moment) is still rotating. This is my code that i'm using to try and stop the hand from rotating:
Code: function clockStop(e:MouseEvent){ sec.removeEventListener(Event.EXIT_FRAME, enterFrameListener); trace("click"); } stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clockStop);
Just above this code is my enterFrameListener which rotates the minute, second and hour hands. Also, above this i have of course the attached enterFrameListener to the second hand:
I was thinking the other week - wouldn't it be great to have a flash clock that not only tells a classy analogue time but also, like a church clock, gives out bell noises when the hour is reached, an also chimes the number of hours the time corresponds too. So at 1pm/am it will chime once, and at midnight you get 12 chimes and so on, I'm sure you get my meaning. I'm not great when it comes to working with sound, infact I've never added much more than a custom click noise on a button. How to go about this? I've attached a nice church bell noise for y'all just incase.
Tasked with creating a countdown timer which I've done before but never using the user's system clock. Does anyone know if its possoble to access the system time from within flash?
Timing Format in Flex "24-hour clock" and "12-hour clock"if "24-hour clock" Button is selected, the control should convert times to 24 hour clock time. For example, if 3:45 p.m. is entered, it should be converted to 15:45.if "12-hour clock" Button is selected, the control should convert times to 12 hour clock time. For example, if 15:45 p.m. is entered, it should be converted to
I have an AxShockwaveFlash object in a Windows Forms application, and load a (AS3) movie into it with LoadMovie. The movie plays correctly, but I am having a problem getting a variable from flash.I have tried using GetVariable but it always returns an empty string. How can I get the value of a variable from flash?
1. Create a XML/PHP driven menu that uses PHP to generate a XML file with database results.
2. Use flash to retrieve the XML and dynamically add movie clip, menu buttons that have label values, IDs, and whether or not the menu item is published from XML, to the menu.
I found some code from a tutorial that took XML data and added a movie clip to the stage, added a label, and an ID; however, I could not get it to get a URL property to the button and initiate the navigateToURL to actually get the unique variable to come from the XML to each instance of the button. I have attached the ZIP file with the original tutorial AS file.
Our scenario is that we have a visualisation in a flex .swf that we load data into (through a web service call). Once the data has been loaded we would like to use the resultant image in a PDF.I can send an image of a DisplayObject back to the server as a PNG and put it into a PDF (using iText), but the png is not scalable and it looks bad in the PDF at different zoom levels.To add a bit more clarity. The visualisations are not vector graphics that we import or embed during development, they are charts and trend graphs and custom visualisations created through the flex/flash drawing API, at runtime, based on data retrieved from the server.
Is it possible for a flash file to retrieve the current url from the browser and populate a dynamic text field with that url?So say my swf is embedded at [URL]I have a dynamic text field in my swf labeled myText What actionscript would be needed for that myText field to recognize the url and populate with [URL]?
I had a developer who has been working on [URL]. He build it using all flash. I need to make changes on the website, but it seems like he is out of business. They don't answer their phones or emails. The website is hosted on their server, and I don't have the FTP details. I can mirror or copy my site onto my local computer, and re upload the site to a real company. I have access to my domain, so I can just point it to a new server after I have downloaded the website files to my computer.
I've got a simple YouTube API client put together, written in Flex, that uses a plain ol' URLRequest object to handle Google's "ClientLogin" authentication scheme. Everything works perfectly, except for one case: when Google responds with a 403 and a response body indicating that I should prompt the user for additional information (specifically, a CAPTCHA request).
The problem I'm having is that in this case, I need to be able to retrieve the body of the 403 response, as the body contains information Google expects me to use to assemble the CAPTCHA (e.g., an image URL, etc.). It looks like Flash fails to populate the URLLoader's data property when it encounters a 403 (which is where the response body would normally show up), so I can't tell the difference between a "403: Login Failed" and a "403: Login Succeeded, but We Want a CAPTCHA".
As a backup, I figured I'd have a look at as3crypto's TLSSocket code, but I haven't been able to make any of that stuff work with Google (or even one of my own SSL certs, for that matter).
Is it possible to access the body ofa 403 response with Flash (and if so, how)? And if not,Does anyone have personal experience with a suitable workaround?
I have a web page with a button that does a redirect to another web page with a flash movie in it. The button on the first page sends http post data as part of it's functionality.
I have a TileList, that i loaded with a PHP script that gives back an dinamically generated xml so i can load the TileList with the images and labels it needs. Now, i want to click on an item of the TileList an retrieve its Label so i can send it to another PHP script that uses the string of the Label to do a search query so i can load latitud and longitude to a map to where that item is located. i have been trying to trace it, but its a no go.
how to display multiple data (retrieved from xml files using a for loop) horizontally in flash. For example, I'd like to display images (fetched from the database using XML) in a flash file where in i want to display 3 records in a row and rest of the images to appear in the next row having the set of 3 images in each rows. I'm having a hard time handling this task.
Code:
// Create new XML Object and set ignoreWhite true book_xml = new XML(); book_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
