I wrote a short AS program to create a tileList and it functions fine, but I need to be able to scroll the list of pics according to the position of the mouse with out actually moving the scroll bar.... example of what I mean: the farther to the right mouseX is on stage, the faster my tileList scrolls to the right, if mouseX moves to the left of the stage, so does the scroll bar...Here`s my code so far:

All the code is written for vertical scrolling, the content I need to be scrolled is going to be horizontal. how can I rewrite this code to be horizontal scrolling? it seems like the scroll button (the one you drag along) doesn't stay confined to its scroll line either.

I have some problems in creating mouseover scroll. wat i want to do is to scroll the text (which was created as movie clip) when i mouse over on the button. and stop the scrolling when i mouse out. thou i have some examples on how to make it work with actionscript 1 and 2, i dunno how to change it to actionscript 3.
View 5 RepliesI want to create a flash site where I have a long horizontal movie clip split into about five sections, each about 960px wide. The effect I want to achieve is when the user clicks on the button it will scroll horizontally to the specific section of the flash project. For example, if your on the home page and you click on the contact the movieclip will tween to the right until it reached the contact section of the long movieclip. And I also want it where if the user clicks on the home it'll scroll back to the home page. I can't seem to accomplish. I tried positioning with the x property and move right so many pixels. I'm thinking about setting like some coordinates or some kinds of reference points so when the button is clicked it will go to those specific points in the stage.
View 1 RepliesI am currently using the code below on a scroll that can go up and down depending on the ymouse. The problem I am having is that when the movie loads through html it will not scroll until you mouse over it. It's like the movie is paused. If I remove the onEnterFrame it scrolls fine without issue but the rest is broken and it basically does nothing but scroll. I do not have it checked to pause at start. It does preview fine within a flash preview.

I'm looking to a menu that scrolls vertically depending on the mouse position.I know that voetsjoeba has a cool scroller that does this, but loads XML and such. I'm just looking to scroll an MC up and down with easing depending on the mouse position.I like the way that the new XML thumbnail gallery that Kirupa put up scolls along the bottom, how about something like that?

I am loading a different external SWF into each one using Load External SWF behavior.Although each SWF is a different file, they are exact copies of each other (have exact same functionality); all 3 are text boxes with both scrollbar scrolling and mousewheel scrolling.Problem is, when on the stage at the same time, they all three respond to mousewheel scroll at the same time. I need them each to respond to users' mousewheel scroll only if the mouse is over the respective area (so that way they don't all scroll at the same time).The file was developed for me and the developer is not available at this time.

I've gotten to chapter 5 in my AS 3.0 classroom book but I need to use wisdom today (CHAPTERS before I gain it for myself),I need to create a custom scroll bar with buttons that function just like the UIScrollBar but more visually suited to our projects. the boss demands it.
I found several tutorials on creating the custom scrollBar, however, they don't include the buttons and I'm unable to find a tutorial on how to create a button scroller (I figured I could link them both to my "info_txt" after creating them separately).

scroll pane loads scroll bars for the movie clip as soon as it loads the movie clip, so there is no scroll bars the movies height and width are one, but after its loaded it changes its size to bigger than the scroll pane, but the scroll bars dont show up because of the size of the movie clip when it was first loaded, can anyone help?

As the scroll pane fills up, it gets wider to accomodate the thumbnailsThere is one row, and eventually, I want to have the user be able to mouse left or right and have the scroll pane scroll, versus clicking on the bar or the left/right arrows. "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

The problem occurs when I like this: I click a button on the Main Frame which takes me to frame #2. I go back to the Main Frame and then come back to the frame #2. When I go to Frame #2. I get the error message. I suspect the problem is occurring because I am not emptying the "scrollPane_1" component on exit. In the code below scrollPane_1 is a scroll pane component. This is occurring on all pages that I have the scroll pane on. Also the scroll pane component is on stage and has an instance name of "scrollPane_1".

I am very new to ActionScript and Flash development so excuse any incorrect terminology that I may use. I'm developing on Ubuntu, using AS3, and compiling with the flex sdk using the ANT tasks (flexTasks-4.0.0.10485).I am looking for a way to scroll content within a sprite. So, say I have a sprite that is 100px in height, and I add several child objects stacked on top of each other that exceed the sprite height, then I would like to display a scrollbar to enable scrolling through the children.Now I found fl.controls.ScrollBar, but when I attempt to import the class I receive the error:Error: Definition fl.controls:ScrollBar could not be found.I'm not sure why I am receiving this error, as this appears to be a valid AS 3 component according to the livedocs.Is there a scrollbar component in AS 3 that can be attached to a display container like a sprite?

View 1 RepliesI'm using CS3 and i wrote a in actionscript 3 an .as file that sends a request to a server and gets as a response an xml file. After loading the xml i create dynamically i big number of questions each one of them with some possible choices for the user to select(Radio buttons). The problem is that i have about 40 questions with about 120 radio buttons to show the user but only 5 fit the screen and the others are not visible. Can anyone give me a help using scrollpane or something else so i can give the user a way to see all of the questions and radio buttons available?
