I'm using the textArea component, but i want to scale it to the size of the browser window. The problem is it scale the content(xml+css) and the scrollbar, and i want to just change the size. I've also tried to attach the Component and then setting the size, but that give the same problem.

I am trying to scale a background image to the size of the browser window. For some reason it does not fill the entire stage?
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "TL";
background_mc._width =Stage.width
background_mc._height =Stage.height
background_mc.onResize = function() {
background_mc._width = Stage.width
background_mc._height = Stage.height
} Stage.addListener(background_mc);

I have a few movie clips which all have specific registration points set I need to scale them down in proportion according to the registration point. If am looking at the stage, hold down the shift key and resize the movieclip it works exactly how I would like it to.
However, I need to do this dynamically using AS3. I have been scaling the movie clips etc but I cannot figure out how to emulate holding down the shift key in AS3, so that the movie clips are re-sized in proportion according to the registration point.

I just read that adobe flash put a limitation on movie clip size to 2700 px widht or lenght...
Is that true ?
Apparently, this decision (if true) was made to limit movie clip size and time to load....
Since Flash cannot keep formating, I am building "text documents" in Adobe InDesign, then export it in .swf...
Some of my .swf are longer than 2700 px.....
So, if the limitation is true, is there a way to bypass that limitation.... ?

I'm pretty new to AS3 and I have a question that I'd like to have answered, please!
I have a .fla file that contains several mc, including rbms_04, rbms_10, rbms_16, etc.
I also have a input text box that is requestNum. When the user types 04 and presses the Enter key, I want rbms_04 to open in a new window, etc for all the rest.
Right now, I have the movie clips on the main timeline and this is the script:

if for example I'm creating a scene with falling snowflakes. In the movieclip is there a way of correctly knowing which area of the main scene you're working in? Or is it just a case of creating the movie, then returning to your scene and placing in where it's appropriate?

is it possible to keep putting onEnter actionscript for changing the size of the movie window, on one frame right after another? so the window size is changing constantly? and also, what would the as be for changing the size/dimension of the window that the flash is playing in?i know, it "fscommand {" but im not sure what goes inside the command.and then i would use setInterval { to start a timer before the next js command would be used to change the size again.

I have created a fla file in adobe flash cs3. This contains a mainstage with a menu (is a movieclip) and a background (actionscript gradient). I have set the movie to scale so that when it is viewed in a browser it will be adjusted to the size of that window.
My problem or what I want is the following :
- The menu and text of that menu must stay the same size, as created in the fla file, when a scale is done.
- The content of the movie(not the menu) must stay in proportion.
An example site that I found, that demonstrates what I want is [URL]. You can change the browser window size and the menu text size stays the same but the content goes in proportion of the window size.

I've search through all the threads with "scaling" and "resizing" and can't find the solution.
Basically I have a GUI element on a gallery that I don't want to scale, while the rest of the page is free to resize/scale.
I think I need to add a listener of some sort to the stage, but I'm not sure how to do this.

I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.
Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.

I'd like to control a movie clips current frame by another movie clips action script.I realise the following controls the outside (root) frame time line:
on(release){
_root.gotoAndStop(1);
}
but I'm not sure how to apply that to my other movie clip. I'm guessing it would be something like this:
on(release){
_*movie_clip_name*.gotoAndStop(1);
}

is possible to dynamically change the dimensions of my flash stage depending on the size of the browser window ?
Very important, I don't want to stretch any element. Just make the background bigger.

how to scale a SWF in the browser window, but not larger than the original stage size in the FLA file? For instance, I've designed a course in Flash with stage size of 1024x768 in Flash. In the published HTML document, I change the following values:
'width', '1024' changed to 'width', '100%'
'height', '768' changed to 'height', '100%'
'scale', 'noscale' changed to 'scale', '100%'
These changes in the HTML source code allow the SWF to size with the browser, but I don't want the SWF to grow larger than 1024x768 if the browser window is greater than these dimensions. I want the max size of the SWF to be 1024x768 regardless of the browser window.
how to achieve this in the HTML source code and/or AS2?

I am trying to scale external swfs to the window size that exists at the point when the button is clicked. The external swf is being loaded into a dynamically created mc in the main swf. I am using a resize handler and the issue i am having is that all external swfs only become veiwable when the window is resized. After the window is resized, they become viewable and scale on the resizing of the window. I call the resize handler to upate the scale base on the window size but to no avail.
The AS (3.0) that I am using can be seen below.
ActionScript Code:
stop();
var Xpos:Number = 0;
var Ypos:Number = 0;

I want a flv to fill the browser. I am using this code:
Code:
Select allStage.align = "TL";
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.showMenu = false;
var timeline:MovieClip = this;
var _minW:Number = 320;
var _minH:Number = 240;
[Code] .....
It works perfectly as written. It scale the movie on resize perfectly and retains the proportions of the video. It doesn't fill the browser completely though when the proportions arent correct(leaving bars or the background color on the sides or top and bottom). I want it to scale proportionately, but fill the browser, so effectively some of the movie will be cut off.

As most of you don't know, I've been creating an rpg game. And, after several tries of art making, etc, I have finally moved back into coding the game. And now, I'm stuck on the equipment system idea. At first, I thought I would just place a bunch of goToAndStop's for each movie clip to go to a frame that has that certain armor piece. This was my first idea for an equipment system. However, after doing some research, and realizing how much lines of code could be saved, I started looking into simply adding and removing movie clips from the character as my new equipment system idea. Now.... on to the problem.
Basic want/ overall achievement wanted: Create an equipment system, which will basically attach movie clips (items) onto characters, which themselves will already be attached movie clips on the stage.
Problem: What is the exact code to do this? And Is there a better way to do this for an equipment system (a less laggy or more efficient way perhaps that I'm not seeing; Check the code below to get a better idea of what I'm talking about)?
Part of the code (or basic idea of code; see comments for extra details
code:
//Don't worry I have an OnEnterFrame function here;
//attachedObj= the character; figure= the MC name of the character;
attachedObj = attachMovie("figure", "figure"+1, 1);
[Code].....

I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.

I used some code that I found, I think even from you guys the scale an external swf being loaded onto a background movie clip. Works great with the exception that it clips some text and creates some funny diagonal lines and some poor picture quality. I have a feeling that this is down to a slight difference in sizing some where along the line. The stage size is 2560 x 1440 being scaled down to any size, but as I mentioned I don't think the height and width are quite in sync for the widescreen format.
[URL]
// perform initial size check
checkStageSize();
// register to re-check when stage size changes
stage.addEventListener( Event.RESIZE, onResize, false, 0, true );
