I have a SWF that has a movie player in it. What I want to do is load an flv or audio file into the player from anywhere on my computer using a file browser. Currently it does work, but ONLY if the flv is located in the course folder where the SWF compiles to. How I can make it play an flv located anywhere other than in the same directory as the SWF?

I was trying to make a media player with AS3 coding.. I know how to make play, pause, next buttons etc.. And i also learned to load playlist from a XML file (created mannually)..What i actually need is to browse the computer and select multiple files and add those files to a playlist.. All these must be done with the media player itself(not manually typing the XML data).. XML file dynamically by selecting the music files, using the player.. Or is there some other method to create playlist without making the XML?..

I was wondering about the flexability of loading movies into a movie clip. Currently, I am well able to load one movie into a movie "loader" clip, but thought maybe there is a way to load additional movie clips into that same "loader" clip, as i am starting to accumulate several different graphics that i need to have be inside movie clips so that i can make them change colors on the same frame when needed.
i shot from the hip and tried this code, but didnt have any luck:

Anybody can tell me how to display pdf file inside of the flash player with acrobat?I got this same option in AS2.0. But now i required in AS3.0. Using flash paper i've tried this option in AS2.0. But flash paper is not upgraded after AS3.0 release so its not supporting in AS3.0.

View 1 RepliesMy scenario is that i have host swf that is of as3 and need to load an as2 movie into it.Now I need to control the as2 movie for keeping the host as3 swf and the as2 swf in sync. To do that I am using a local connection. But the problem i'm facing is that, when as2 loaded via as3 movie, I don't see as2 events being fired. For example, I kept a trace in onEnterFrame in as2 movie. Stand-alone I could see the traces. But when loaded from as3 movie, I could not see any of them.
I have 3 movie clips Loader as3 movie AS2 wrapper movie (Generic for all AS2 movies that will have local connection code.this will get msgs from as3 and internally does what ever we wanted) the actual as2 movie to be loaded into as3
I load a movie into my main movie. From that movie I want to load a third movie back onto my main movie. I tried _root from inside the second movie but it loads the third movie in the second.

There is a root movie that acts as a control panel for user input. 1. It loads then parses some xml to determine how the interface should look (what images, radio buttons, etc. to display) 2. Then it loads and positions items on the stage ( rbs, thumbnails) 3. It loads child swfs
When the issue occurs step 2 is only partially completed and step 3 doesn't occur. No message about script error appears.

I've made a little flash, with AS3, to view the data generated by some program I wrote... The data is in a .csv file and are loaded to the memory with a URLLoader object.
The flash loads well .csv files which can come to almost 50 MB in size... But when I try to load a file with 160 MB, the player just stop working... I run the last flash player version, outside of the browser...
I've heard that the Flash has limitations on the amount of memory it can store... But in another question, they say it has not.
What may be causing the crash? - I don't think it is the code, since it runs smooth for small files...
Just entered my second year at college and thought i'd have a serious attempt at finishing a site... the work in progress is at [URL] In webdesigner magazine there was a tutorial that used flash actionscript and xml to load mp3s at runtime. Completed the tutorial locally and was working fine. included the player in the main movie and uploaded to the server, to find that the mp3s arent loading.

There are 100 buttons in my movie clip and a timeline of 10 frames length. If user clicks on button1, the movie clip will play and at the last frame it will redirect to second scene (scene2) and then "on scene2's first frame" "externalscene1.swf" will be loaded. If user clicks on button 5 then on scene2's first frame "externalswf2.swf" will be loaded.

I need to create an application in which we are changing the style of the application that is theme of the application based on the button click.
I have download the theme that all contains different CSS file. I need to dynamically declare the CSS for the application to apply that theme. I have file name Theme1.css, Theme2.css, Theme3.css, Theme4.css, Theme5.css.
when I click on the Theme 1 Button then I need to apply Theme1.css file as source of style. similar like that when I click on the Theme 2 Button then I need to apply Theme2.css file as source of style. Note : css file contains Style for both application and component of the Application.
Accessibility is driving me up the WALL! I have a system that has menu pop-ups and because of accessibility when the user selects OK it does what ever action the pop-up does and when the user presses ESC it leaves the menu. My issue is this all works fine when testing it in the swf file and selecting the 'disable keyboard shortcuts' BUT when I embedded it into HTML is loses this function and the short cuts stop working and at points activate html stuff. Is there a line of code or something that I can place in the .swf or .html that will disable the keyboard shortcuts?
View 2 RepliesI embedded a SWF on a page and have checked it in Dreamweaver by selecting FILE | PREVIEW IN BROWSER. The page works just fine, video plays back and rollover button works perfect. I've then uploaded the SWF,FLV,html page and scripts to my server and when tested, the video wouldn't play. i have created a silverlight application , but i need to embed it to a Flash file(swf) which it runs with Flash Player ( whithout using browser), I had found a solutions to call it using javascript, but it still needs my flash file run inside the browser, dose any one can help me, Either to run js inside swf (without need of browser) or any other way that i can embed my Silverlight application inside Flash.

I have a Competition page on my flash project. Within the page is a ScrollPane, the ScrollPane has a MovieClip which is the stuff inside the ScrollPane. Then within my MovieClip I have a FLV video embedded using the FLVPlayback Component. I want to be able to select that FLV to make it stop when I use the navigation bar to go to another page otherwise it keeps playing in the background. its obvious I need to use stop(); but I don't know how to select the child MovieClip.

This is the first time i am working in action script. I have seen a flash programmer working with it. since i know javascript i was able to work in action script. I am creating a file upload component for my php projects. Until now i have advanced to show the file dialog box using the FileReference api. The select event is not firing for me. and i did not get any error.

View 1 RepliesI am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.
