ActionScript 1/2 :: Wait While Movie Clip Is Loading

Dec 30, 2009

In a movie clip, I have a function named addObject(string). Inside that function I am loading another movie clip (say, myObj1_mc) using attachMovie. After loading, I need to set the string passed to the text field inside the myObj1_mc. But it is not possible to do this immediately, because the movie clip will take some time to load after the attachMovie call. Means if we set this string in the next frame, it will be working. But in my case, I have to call addObject multiple times (from a single frame). In each time, different movie clips (say, myObj1_mc, myObj2_mc, etc.) are created dynamically and texts are set. So it would be better if I can wait until the movie clip (myObj1_mc) is loaded completely so that I can set the text, before the addObject function exit.

how can we wait, until a movie clip attached is completely functional.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Loading Multiple Movie Clips Inside Another Movie Clip?

Mar 11, 2010

I was wondering about the flexability of loading movies into a movie clip. Currently, I am well able to load one movie into a movie "loader" clip, but thought maybe there is a way to load additional movie clips into that same "loader" clip, as i am starting to accumulate several different graphics that i need to have be inside movie clips so that i can make them change colors on the same frame when needed.

i shot from the hip and tried this code, but didnt have any luck:

mc_LCD_loader.attachMovie("hilight", "g", 1), ("header", "X", 1); mc_LCD_loader.g._x = 0; mc_LCD_loader.g._y = 1000;
mc_LCD_loader.X._x = 0; mc_LCD_loader.X._y = 1000;

Actionscript :: Loading A Movie Inside Movie?

Mar 21, 2011

My scenario is that i have host swf that is of as3 and need to load an as2 movie into it.Now I need to control the as2 movie for keeping the host as3 swf and the as2 swf in sync. To do that I am using a local connection. But the problem i'm facing is that, when as2 loaded via as3 movie, I don't see as2 events being fired. For example, I kept a trace in onEnterFrame in as2 movie. Stand-alone I could see the traces. But when loaded from as3 movie, I could not see any of them.

I have 3 movie clips Loader as3 movie AS2 wrapper movie (Generic for all AS2 movies that will have local connection code.this will get msgs from as3 and internally does what ever we wanted) the actual as2 movie to be loaded into as3

Actionscript :: Play Movie Clip, Have It Wait Until End Of Main Movie Then Restart

Nov 17, 2011

I have a flash banner that includes a movie clip of the logo being animated. I want the logo animation to only run at the beginning of the main "movie". Currently I have to find the length of the entire movie (for ex. 500 frames) then put a key frame in at the 500th frame of the logo movie clip. I know there has to be a correct way to do this...Do I add a frame name at the end of the main timeline and somehow in AS in the logo movie clip say "when you reach X goToAndPlay(1);"?

ActionScript :: Wait For Image To Built Before Loading Frame

Jul 5, 2011

I have a script that takes lots of content and builds 1000s of MovieClips on the stage, does lots of drawing etc. Due to the high amount of work needed when the frame first loads this can sometimes be delayed by a second or two. The more the user uses the application the longer and longer this is likely to be (more data to siphon through and build). My question to you is how do I make sure the frame doesn't show (serve a loading image or something) until it is built? I don't want the user to see the skeleton of the page and then everything appear a second or two later.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Wait Until URLLoader Finishes Loading?

Apr 13, 2011

I am trying to load the output of a php-file into some flash variables and then fill some textfields with those variables. But it seems like even though I have a completehandler it tries to fill the textfields before I get all the data.

Code:
function loadQuestion(){
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("the url to my php script");
request.method = URLRequestMethod.GET;
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;

Is it wrong of me to have the completeHandler inside the loadQuestion function? And is it wrong of me to assume that because I put the data in the textfields in the completeHandler it should w8 until its finished loading?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Access Functions Inside Dynamically Attached Clip?

I've got clips being attached using attachMovie (clips are in the library with linkage id's).

I assume that the methods of my attached clip (the functions) aren't available immediately, but rather after the clip actually 'loads' to the stage they are.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Control Attached Movieclips Inside Another Movieclip By A Toolbar?

Feb 2, 2009

The proposed task has to do with the creation of an application in which the user will be able to insert, drag&drop and remove rectangles. The properties of each rectangle (name,x,y) should be saved in an xml instance.

1.Create a vertical toolbar with the above buttons:

a.new rectangle
b.move
c.delete

2.Create a movieclip that will be your workspace on the right of your toolbar named stage.

3.Create a function that will be triggered by the new rectangle button and will attach to the stage rectangles as movieclips named rectangle(i) (rectangle1, rectangle2,...).

4.Create a function that will be triggered by the move button and will drag and drop a selected rectangle.

5.Create a function that will be triggered by the delete button and will remove a selected rectangle.

And what I have done so far is:

i = 1;
newrectangleButton.onRelease = function() {
stageMC.attachMovie("rectangleID", "rectangle"+i, i);
stageMC["rectangle"+i]._x = Math.random()*stageMC._x;

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Individual Levels Before Play Them To Remove 1 Long Wait?

Aug 10, 2008

I am currently doing a project which involves quite a large swf file at the end. I was wondering if anyone knows a way that i can easily make it so that at the begging, when first loading up the flash, it just loads the menu and a couple of other frames, but when i go onto play the game, it will load each level just before you play it, so that the player doesnt get bored from waiting right at the begging for a while when they can wait 5 seconds before each level.

Im pretty sure ive seen this done before but im not sure whether it is preparing it in that time, or downloading it. I want it so that there will be a 10-20 second wait for the game to load up, then you go to the menu, press play, loads the next frame, or certain number of frames, you play that level, then it keeps on doing this for all the levels.

No other time.
