I've got clips being attached using attachMovie (clips are in the library with linkage id's).
inside those clips are two functions. I'm trying to access those functions after I attach the clips, but not getting anywhere.
I assume that the methods of my attached clip (the functions) aren't available immediately, but rather after the clip actually 'loads' to the stage they are.
i'm attaching clips from library using attachMovie. inside those clips are functions. I'd like to call those functions a few lines after instantiating them using 'attachMovie.' It seems that the clip isn't fully loaded because my functions aren't being called. I tried using movieClip.onLoad, but no dice.
I want to apply actions to a movieClip nested inside a dynamicly attached movieClip, with the attachMovie method; it doesn't works when the movieClip is attached by a button:
1.when the swf movie loads with an attachMovie method the remove_btn clears the window_mc
The code I'm building creates two MovieClips on the stage, in one it instantiates several text boxes and in the other some buttons.
What I can't do is access data from the text boxes (e.g. textField.text) for use in the functions called by the eventListeners attached the buttons. I had the system all working nicely before I placed the text boxes and the buttons on separate movie clips.but this structure makes it much tidier to refresh the text I'm using.The button functions are fine with variables created prior to the building of the text boxes.
Am I failing to address the text boxes correctly (because they're on another movie clip) or is there a stage / movie clip property I need to set so they can see each other ... or is this something else altogether?Could it be that the buttons are created before the text boxes?
I'm loading website by using htmlLoader.loadString(someHtml). There are included JS sources.Is there any chance to get access to functions which are inside this JS file?
I also set property placeLoadStringContentInApplicationSandbox to true.
After loading the movieclips and text boxes dynamically I now need to get the movieclips to perform a unique function when they are pressed, for testing purposes I am using the getURL funciton and linking to the boxNo. This is just so I can see what is going on!At the moment they are all linking to the boxNo that is pulled from the last run of the loop.
for (var i = 0; i < loc.length; i++) { var boxNo = loc[i].location_ID;;
What is the best way to create functions dynamically and store them inside an Array? Obviously the bellow is wrong since the array will always trace the last value of the variable "v" (5)
ActionScript Code: var funcContainer:Array=new Array(); for(var v:uint=0;v<5;v++){
How do I move / create a button that functions inside a movie clip?I have been creating a quasi-simple website following the tutorial provided by Lynda.com. Using I have created a functional site in which the buttons work so long as they are part of the main timeline. However if I take this functional button and drop it into a movie clip I've created, it ceases to function. Drag it back out of the movie clip and it starts working again. I am sure it's an action script coding problem on my end.[code]
Code: function backhome(event:MouseEvent):void { this.gotoAndPlay("mapbegin"); }
At frame 10, I have a movie clip that animates and stops. Inside of that movie clip is a button that I want to go back to frame 2 when someone clicks on it. I want to be able to click on that button and call the function above.
I'm having problems with the scope of nested functions. I have a movie clip: "MC_clip" inside that movie clip there is a button: "inside_button". when users press "inside_button", I want the movie will jump to play frame 5 (main time line). how do i refer the stage from inside a movie clip?? another question is about the other way: how can I call to a function that is declared inside a movie clip?? is that movie clip have to be an instance on the stage??
At frame 10, I have a movie clip that animates and stops. Inside of that movie clip is a button that I want to go back to frame 2 when someone clicks on it. I want to be able to click on that button and call the function above.
i have this code in an as layer within a movie clip called pages
ss_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,reportCli ck); function reportClick (myevent:MouseEvent):void { // do something in response addChild(img_holder); removeChild(img_holder);
but the ss_btn im trying to access is within another movie clip called menu is there a way i can access the button
I have one button its name a_btn. this button is inside one move clip name a_mc. this button is on first frame. so when write code for that:
function submit(event:MouseEvent):void { trace("hii") } a_mc.a_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, submit);
its working. but when i keep this button on 2nd frame or any where not in 1st frame inside that movie clip, then i get runtime error like: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at NewFlashDocument_fla::MainTimeline/NewFlashDocument_fla::frame1(). how can i access that button on second frame...
I have a button (myButton_btn) which is nested inside a few movie clips. How do I access it from the main time line? Does this look like a proper code:
firstLevel_mc.secondLevel_mc.thirdLevel_mc.myButton_btn.addEventListen er(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick_goHome); function onClick_goHome(event:MouseEvent): void { this.gotoAndPlay("homesequence"); }
Basically I have an movie clips which contains various other movie clips. These other clips are named clip1_mc etc.This big movie clip is dropped onto a frame in the main timeline so it plays when the program loads. I have my main actions on the timeline and I want to access the movie clip instance names inside the big clip. Is there a call to maybe get the children or contents of a clips using an event listener?
Is it possible on flash to access inside a movie clip of an external swf file?im trying to link this button which is currently inside a movieclip to the frame inside this movieclip of an external swf.[code]
I am attaching a bunch of instances of a movieClip to my stage and I want to call a function in this movie clip that I'm attaching however I don't seem to be able to access the movieClips functions. Is there any known reason why this may be happening, something I don't know about attached clips? I'm doing something similar to whats below
Code: myPointer = attachMovie("libraryName","myNewName",newLvl); myPointer.doMyFunc(); I know the clip is attaching correctly because I can see it, but I can't seem to access any functions within the attached clip. I also know that "myPointer" is correctly addressing the attached clip because I can change the clips properties such as width and height.
Basically what I want to do is call a function attached to an event listener, without the event actually happening - for example:I have a function that is attached to Event.RESIZE.I would like to call that function from time to time, but this function of course requires an Event argument, so attempting to just call the function throws an error that it expects 1 argument and got none.
When I press the button nothing happens, but when I remove the attach code and just put the button on the stage with the appropriate instance name it does work.
Functions embedded inside other functions? In all my years of ActionScript programming, I've never seen this (this is part of legacy code written by someone else which I am adapting):
i got a school flash project where i need to access the _y properties of many movie clips buttons that set with name like sel 1 sel2 sel 3 and so on the problem is i have 2 sets of those, one on the main timeline which i can access with "for" looped _root["sel"+i]._y and one which is inside another movieclip problem is i don't know how to access the later using for loop? this is the script that i used to access the _y on the _root.selx
having trouble accessing a button within an mc placed on the stage using attachMovie.[code]it just doesn't seem to reference the button with the instance name 'zoom' that is inside the 'text01' mc. i've tried _root.text01.zoom as well.
