ActionScript 3.0 :: Wait To Load Certain Movie Clips Or Frames?

I have seen flash sites that wait to load different parts of the flash file until you click on a link, thereby starting a loading graphic that then loads the content you're looking for. I can't find any information on how to do this, and I'm guessing I just can't find the right terminology.
I'm Making a catalog on Flash CS4 ActionScript 3.0and I don't know ho to move between movie clips using buttons and action script...In Scene 1 I have 2 framesIn frame 1 y have a movie clip (MC) and inside that movie clip I have 10 framesIn frame 10 of the MC, I want to put a button that will take me to frame 2 of my original timeline (NOT frame 2 of the MC)an some one tell me how's it done?or if it can't be done that way...then ...How do I go from frame 1 to frame 2 on my original timeline in Scene 1 after the movie clip in frame one is done?
How do I make a button on one frame (on the main timeline) tell a movie clip on another frame to go to a certain frame inside that movie clip?
To do this, if the mc's are on the same frame is easy because you just use the dot syntax or MovieClip(parent), but how would I do this if a mc is on a different frame?
I need to make some animation working without changing its structure, but I have no idea how to control mc instances on diffrent frames and diffrent movie clips. Below is example.When button is clicked, mc2 starts to play.
I have an action in a frame that controls multiple movie clips. It doesn't seem to work on clips that don't exist in the first frame. Is that a normal part of AS2.0?
I have a movie with various movie clips on certain frames.What I want is the playhead to randomly jump to different frames I specify within the movie after each Movie clip has played. So at the end of each movie clip there would be a random script forcing the playhead to play another movie clip randomly. My movie has 100 frames but I only want the random sequence to occur on the following frames 10, 13, 25, 86, 75, 56.Or If I labelled the frames how would I label them?? Would they all have to have the same label, or each label different?
Is it possible to create movie clips dynamically and add frames to them? Because say I have a game and there are NPCs, I'm not going to want to create say 50 different MovieClips manually, is there a way to do this through code?

I want to dynamically attach movie to the stage. This is fine. I'm able to do it. but i want to check if the dynamic movie clipe has executed all its frames (reached last frame). as soon as this happens i want to attach a diff movie clip. Is this possible? if i use the _currentframe property, it gives always 1 as the frame. it doesnt get to last frame of the dynamic movie clip.
I generally don't mess with the timeline, but I need to for this project. In a nutshell: user can customize a product reference sheet with her choice of crossection, footprint, etc. All those choices exist as external swfs. In order to be legible, the reference sheet must be two pages.I know how to print multiple frames with Flash. But what I cannot yet achieve is loading external swfs into movieclips on different frames, and then print that. Here's my code from a test fla:[code]Now, this code will print both frames as separate pages, but the loaded image in printArea.holder2 does not print!
I Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.
I have a problem with the way Flash handles a script I am making. What I currently have is 10 movieclips which I want to play after each other. Right now, I am using a for loop to start each clip. Naturally this will make it so that each clip starts almost immediately after the one before it. make a script that will make Flash wait with playing a clip until the one before it is done?
Im trying to create a motion where as when you select a object from the home page all the objects slide out and off screen before the new content loads.
Ive got it set up so that it all loads into a swfLOADER. Is their a way that i can make it gotoAndPlay an out phrase before loading in the next content on the swfLOADER. I dont even know if what im trying to do is possible?
Have not sucseeded so far as it just wipes the page before playing the out phase. Is their any way that i can make this work??
currently got it saying on release gotoAndPlay "out" and then on the next line loadMovie "about"
Unfortunately it ignores the second line, which appears to be because the movie hasn't loaded by time it gets to the next line. As a work-around I made an interval to check for the movieclip width to be more than 0 and then run a function that chooses the desired frame, but this is very unreliable. Is there a simple way to load the clip and wait until it is finished, then immediately choose a frame on load?
I have a "map_mc" movie clip that has over 500 movie clips(counties). I also have the countynames in xml format. I want to be able to
1. in a loop get a list of all movie clips
2. and in a dynamic text box assign the county name to the movie clip (from xml).
Is it possible to get the names of all movie clips and then assign the countynames?
I have the xml part semi working and on mouseover can display the name but is stuck on the movie clip part.I am trying to avoid typing all the county names and in the future will be adding census and other data to the xml.
how to load multiple movie clips on the stage? My ActionScript 3 are as below:
I declared a movie clip - "mcPhotoFrame" (i.e. an instance of "mcPhoto" movie clip) and would like to load all the pictures on the stage but after finished loading, only the last photo shows on the stage.
I made website last year using Actionscript 2, and everything was working fine, its been uploaded to the net and works brilliantly. Now when I've come back and opened it now, none of the movie clips will load saying theres an error. I haven't touched it since then, and have no idea why its not working, all the external .swf files are still in the same folder, and all of them work perfectly alone. I've just started making a new website where I'm also trying to get the main file to load an external file on a movie clip layer, but its not working?
I have three movie clips on my stage. Their names in my library are a1_mc, a1_mc2, and a1_mc3. Each of those movie clips on my stage has a different instance name. All of these are connected with an actionscript in the same file.Now, I'd like the movie clips to appear at a random position every time, they are loaded.
I already tried to make a new array and solve this issue with the sort() command. However, that did not work out properly. The positions and instance names of the movie clips on my stage are as follows:
a1_mc instance name on stage: a1 position on stage: X = 20.0 | Y = 140.0
I am designing a website and have for locations I would like to load a random image from the same folder. Goals we'd like to accomplish with this:
1. We want images to load randomly from same folder 2. We don't want any duplicate images on the page at any one time 3. We have different size movie clips they are loading into.
Is there a way to accomplish this? What script do I use to resize the .jpg to fit whatever movieclip it's loading into and how to I tell it not to load an image that is already loaded in another movieclip?
I need to load multiple movie clips one after the other into an empty_mc. Im going to load one, and then once thats has finished playing I want to load #2, then #3, then #4, ... etc. There are probably a couple ways that I can do this. Is it possible to stick a gotoandPlay at the end of the first mc to load the 2nd movie clip in its place on a higher level so it goes on top of it? Would it better to use the load/unload movie syntax?
I am in the process of building my new website and am having some loading issues. Here is a bit of info. gallery_stage This is the main movie that I am loading everything into. This movie is places in the center of an html page in the portfolio section of my site. gallery_menu.swf this is the navigation menu that I am loading onto the 'stage'. Currently it loads insode of a container 'menuload'. This is the code that I'm using to load it.
I'm creating a site and when a particular button in the navigation is clicked I want to load the corresponding "page" movie clip onto the stage and remove any other "page" that is currently loaded. I would also like to have a nice alpha fade between them. I've been searching around and can't find anything. I know this is simple like I need a loader container and I need to export for ActionScript the movie clips I want to load into the container.
When the the 1. , 2. and 3. lines have boxes dropped on them I want the movie clip to load. I haven't been able to achive this. but I found a temporary way around it by making the clip load once the "3." target is full. this works but isn't completly accurate, I need it to also check if the other targets are full before the clip loads.
