I'm trying to experiment with taking text from a textarea in a flex project and open it up in a php page. But the php isn't line breaking where it should be. An Example of the text i'd like to bring over to php would be:
You: Hi there Them: Hello You: This is a great example Them: I know right?
Here's my php: <?php $text= $_GET['text']; echo $text; ?>
Right now I came up with something like this in the actionscript... var chatBox:String=chat_box.text; navigateToURL(new URLRequest("savelog.php?text="+chatBox), '_blank');
I also tried something like: var chatBox:String=chat_box.text.valueOf().replace(" ","<br/>"); and var chatBox:String=chat_box.text.toString().valueOf().replace(" ","<br/>");
But apparently the isn't translating over no matter how I get the chatBox var so its not even making a <br/>. But, even if i did get that to work it wouldnt be ideal. Because eventually in the end I want to be able to just incorporate the pastebin API to paste this GET data and post it on there. And I don't think it would look too pretty with having <br/> after every line...Is it possible to bring this text over to php and recognize the line breaks in a way that would work well with what im eventually trying to accomplish?
Can a TextField can contain different kinds of linebreaks?
I save and load text from an input field into an XML. I save it as CDATA tags including linebreaks.
This is what happens:
I type a text with linebreaks into the textfield I save the text to the XML I empty the textfield I load the xml into the textfield - everything looks as expected, linebreaks are present I save the exact same textfield again (the only difference this time the content was loaded and not handtyped)This time the XML does not contain any linebreaks when I load it again, the text doesn't have linebreaks
Well I was loading a xml file (using CDATA) into my flash app. I'm still using AS2 and everyting works perfectly with linebreaks and everything. The only thing I can't understand is why a linebreak is so huge? When I load the XML-file into PHP to edit, it looks good. But when I save it and load it again into flash one linebreak is like two linebreaks.
how does one get <br> to work in flash when the <br> is located in an external file?Ive tried <br>,/n, </p> and a bunch of others. I need to remove some redundant ' 's from the end of a csv I'm importing before it divides the lines up into an array (otherwise I get extra empty rows).
I have a dynamic text field in flash that is populated by an input box. The dynamic text field has a maxmium width it can be. So i have it as multiline WITH wodrwap on. My problem is that I have to send this data to server and for the php to be able to text the text and output the text as it is displayed in flash. There seems to be no way of finding the linebreaks and passing them in the string as far as I can see?
I would like to supply an username(mail address) and password to an API method and login to Facebook. Is it possible with the special swc library to access the API in this manner? If not, can you give me some hints on how to do it using ExternalInterface and JS?
I am using Adobe Air to get data from SalesForce, and present it in a datagrid. I am using a query to get the data, and then put it into an arraycollection that is bound to the datagrid, this works correctly and the data is displayed. The problem is that I want to convert the Account Id in the Event to show the account Name. To do this I am using the following code:-

This works and displays the Account Name, the problem is that when I use this script and then Sync Changes to SalesForce all the records that have been displayed are identified as needing to be syncronised even if they have only been displayed. If I skip the function eventQueryHandler, and link my query to the OnQueryResult function then there is no problem, but only the Account Id can be displayed. How can I stop Air marking these records as having changed, or is there a better way to achieve this?
How I would go about pulling my account balance from my bank through actionscript. I assume this would be a HTTP REQUEST, but not sure. I don't want to do transactions or anything, just read the balance.

I am having a pretty irritating problem with the audio I am using for a Flash game which I am making using Flash 8 and Actionscript 2.0. The game itself is near complete and is already hosted online, it is a simple 2d shooter game where enemies go from one side of the screen to the other and you shoot them. I have built a preloader which works well however I have just added audio to the game, and I am finding that the preloader doesn't seem to take this audio into account. The game itself loads up and is ready to play, however it could be another 30 seconds or so before the audio will kick in.
I have a main song loop which plays in the background (triggered once the start game button is pressed). A bullet shot sound when the mouse is clicked (triggered through code), and various sound effects that are played on the timelines of the enemy movie clips characters. Part of my problem is that im implementing the audio in so many different ways and I am confused by the complexities of using audio in Flash. Should I build a separate preloader for the audio? Or am I simply doing something wrong in Flash itself when it comes to including the audio?
I am trying to make a login that allows the user to create an account and be able to access it at anytime. Like if I was going to go on to facebook I can login. Something like that except I want it in my swift and not like a php or whatever you call it now.
It is a simple matter to place your object in a random place on the stage and not have it hanging over the edge, like so:[code]But for some reason I am having great difficulty coming up with a solution to how the random placement might work once the object has been rotated. and the registration point is no longer in the global upper-left corner. This might be easy if the rotation was a fixed # but I am rotating randomly along the whole spectrum.
I reverted the admin console account on a new setup of Media server 4 and it will not let me connect or login using the "administrator" login? Does it set the password to some defaut? This is all new to me as this is my first install of this server. How can create a new admin login? How can I change to login?

Anyone know if you can connect, login, post an image to a Facebook account directly from inside of Flash? I grabbed the Facebook API for AS3 and have it installed, created an application definition on Facebook but am having no look connecting to it? I have seen some refereneces to it only working inside of Flex and am wondering it that's the case. I am looking to do a kiosk application where a camera image will be uploaded directly to the persons FB page.
I wanted to know if this is possible. On my site I want to play youtube videos from my account from youtube. Basically, there will be an empty text box. Users will type in some text. Click on a button to search and play a random video based off tags associated with a video from my youtube account with the words from the text box? And if they did the same search it wouldn't play the same video again?
I made a scrolling gallery of thumbnails. It extends for 25 frames, and has two buttons (play and rewind). I have it set up so that if you hold down on either button, you continuously scroll until you reach the end or beginning of the animation. Then, along the timeline, I have spots chosen for the scroll to stop if you are not holding down on one of the buttons.
What I want to happen now, is for the animation to easeIn to the stop points on the time line if you are not holding down on the scroll buttons, but play smoothly if you are holding them down. Does anyone know I way to do this?
The searches that I did on this topic aren't providing me with any answers...that I can understand anyway. =*) Here's the situation.In the past, I did computer-based-training using "a different authoring tool." One thing I discovered I could do with that tool--which really opened up new possibilities for me--was to use that scripting language to create a snapshot of the current window and save that image as an object/class. Then I could access that object, resize it, save it to disk, and load it in later. The result--for my training at least--was a visual bookmark of their location in the training should they have to save and come back later.I would now like to do this with Flash.specificially CS4 and AS3.If anyone can point me in the right location to get started,For clarity, the steps are:
1: Take a snapshot of the current Flash window / Stage. I'm not concerned if the snapshot remains "in Flash" or goes to the Clipboard as long as I can get to it in the next step.
2: Access that snapshot from where-ever it's stored.
3: Process the snapshot and reduce it to a thumbnail, etc.
4: Save it to a file that I can bring back into the .swf at a later point. I'm not real concerned about the format of the file as long as I can bring it back in later. How do I save it? I would love to be able to save it to the user's machine but last I checked Flash won't do that sort of thing. Can I save it as a file on the server that the .swf is running from using perhaps a PHP call /script / page?
5: And, of course, recall the image to be used at a later point. I already have a pretty good handle on this from past experiments.
I'm attempting to take an image from a networked camera and store it as a bitmap. I discovered that flash didn't support MJPEG so I found a class someone had written that could talk to the camera and output on the screen. Then I edited it so that I could request the current image at any time and store it in a ByteArray.I've managed to load that ByteArray with a loader class and place it on the stage, but I'm not sure how to save that as a Bitmap?
I haven't played around in flash for awhile due to other projects outside of it taking up most of my time, but I'm trying to create a simple 4 digit count-up display that uses a sprite-like movieclip instead of a dynamic text field.
The movieclip has 0-9 layed out vertically and each interval basically shifts the movieclip instance up by 20 pixels. There are 4 instances of the movieclip on stage side by side.
I'm wondering if there is a simpler way to do this other than how I did. I honestly can't wrap my brain around this anymore without going insane, and just wanted to get some other opinions.
I am trying to format a raw date input which is coming from an xml. Forexample: the input data is coming like date: 20090602. I wanna make it year:2009 month: 06 day: 02. I could only think 1 way to do it: by taking out the certain digits and assign them to seperate variables, or just 1 date variable. how to seperate certain digits?
