How can I set a custom font while creating a link with TLF text? Here is my code:

Everything works fine but I would like to use:
- Helvetica Neue Bold as my custom font
- Add tracking or letter spacing
- Embed the font in my swf
It's what this image describes:For some reason, I cannot use bold tags to set the TLF text to bold, even though both the regular and bold fonts are embedded.so that the webpage that embeds this movie can call its function (otherwise the movie itself will be wrapped by TLF).his is not exactly a question since there is an obvious solution to this. Just set the htmlText as something like "<font face='Myriad Web Pro'><b>BOLD</b></font>" and you're done.hs issue is, why does it not render the bold text without the font tag in the first place, if I have already set the font of the TLF text in the PI?
View 2 RepliesI've got a number of related projects set up in Flash Builder. Each project gets its graphical assets from an exported SWC file (or multiple SWC files.) This works fine, but I wanted to create a shared project that contains stuff used across all projects. The first item in there is a screen with a number of clips containing dynamic text fields on them. This screen (and associated assets) are exported to a SWC and then I have written code in the shared project to add functionality to the screen and buttons. I'm using 2 fonts, both are embedded.
Both show up just fine in my test harness, but when I link the shared SWC and src folder (which is required in order to use this code/assets in the other projects) the textfields blank out if I try to set their text properties. If I leave the default text (set in the FLA) it shows up, and the static text fields in the FLA also show up, it's only when I set the text property.
I've tried a number of combinations, including removing embedding, exporting for ActionScript, setting all textfields in the shared project to dynamic, all with no luck. The main project does have the same font embedded, and I've checked that the same glyphs are selected in both the main and shared projects. I realize this is a rather complicated setup, but I have yet to find a workflow to allow a designer and developer to work on large projects that is better (but I'd love to hear one!)
I am creating a textfield using this code:

But the problem is, if the client doesn't have the "TF2 Build" font, the font will be Times New Roman.I would like to know to attach the font to the .swf file.
ok so i have drawn some letters up, this way i can have everything looking just the way i like. i was going to put it in as an image but then it hit me, what if i wanted the user to be able to select the text? so i wanted to ask if there was a way you could make it act like a textfield. i was thinking it finds the character value and gives a value of 1-26. 1 being a and 26 being z. then it adds the movieclip to stage, changes to the frame relying on that value i just mentioned and positions itself accordingly.but what i haven't thought of yet is how you'd make it selectable.

I'm trying to set a text field to arial, helvetica, sans AFTER I disable embedded fonts, but I'm having trouble with the CSS. This is what works for embedded fonts when I'm using English text:

But then if I switch languages and therefore have the embed fonts = false I get a serif font. That's not surprising, because I can't use anything else in there... adding other font families doesn't help and "breaks" the embedded version:

btw, I have to use weight and style so it looks right when using device fonts. I guess I really need a way to set everything to "_sans" but not on the actual text fields themselves. That didn't work for me, because this doesn't help:

I have to set my text fields to the embedded font. They're dynamic but already on the stage so I can animate them easily.
I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.URL...It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font> This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts at stays true to the font? To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe "Gotham" to be exact.URL,,,

As you can see, I'm trying to prevent it from passing _root.block by only allowing the mouse's Y to be followed when it isn't passing _root.block. The only problem is that once it hits _root.block, there's no way to drag it back from _root.block. It gets stuck. Is there a better way to prevent it from passing _root.block but allow it to be pulled back from _root.block

In my flash project I use a CSS formated text field. And today I found a really nice font for it on the web. Is there a way to make the field display that font even on computers which don't have it installed?
View 1 RepliesI've come across a potential issue that I think I will be able to solve, although it seems to be to be something that may already have a solution, so I thought it best to save time and check.
I'm basically looking to create a menu where the labels are highly detailed and visually pleasing. The problem is that each and every label needs to be dynamically generated so that the menu is shown in the correct language.
My issue is this: is their a method in flash of defining letters for use as a font that aren't just flat colours? Imagine taking each letter into an image editing program, applying some effects to it, then important them all into flash as graphics/bitmap data. Could those graphics then be defined as letters in a font so that, when the swf is handed the string, it can create the dynamic label from my lovely looking alphabet?
I have a few ideas on how to implement a system using arrays and swapping the dynamic textfields for dynamically created movies, but that would mean building it from the ground up, something which may not be necessary if something similar already exists.
Anyway, I look forward to your replies; this forums has unknowingly solved a large number of my problems in the past, and acted as a safety rope as I learnt AS3. Now that I am on this forum I will likely try and take some time to give something back and help out other beginners, at least I will do when my thesis is finished
I am trying to define the content area of a custom component that extends mx:VBox. The component has predefined headers and footers (visual children) and I want to set the area in the middle for adding children to the component. The component will be used like this:

So I have an input TextField and I'm wanting to use a custom font for it. I tried to use setTextFormat() with a TextFormat object, which does not make any difference. When setting embedFonts to true, Nothing at all gets displayed. I know the problem isn't with the TextFormat object, because I can apply the same format to a regular TextField and it works
View 1 RepliesI am running Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5.1 r516 on a CentOS system. I also have WHM/cPanel installed on this system. My scenario is this. We have a large number of MP4 media files that are currently located in a web root directory created by cPanel: /home/mediafa/public_html/fullservices. These all work without a problem when doing progressive downloads. However, we also want to make them streamable with FMS as well. From the documentation, I should be able to create an entry in the /<fms install dir>/applications/vod/Application.xml file to look up files in that folder.
Here is my VirtualDirectory block:

How do you set the default value of skinClass for a custom component in Flex? I've extended the DropDownList with my custom component, but I would like to specify a default skin to go with it instead of always setting the skinClass value for each instance.
