it trace the score after finishing but it doesn't update hightscore.txt
bit of an odd problem, I have the following piece of code

which retrieves a shared data.
If I put this actionscript on the first frame of a new document, it works fine, however I want to use it in something I already have, which uses an external Document class.

I set the sharedobject using code above,now I can publish video,but so is not set(from admin console, "shared object" tab).
I just recently made an online game and was asked to implement saving features. Everything works fine but a single detail... When I update the swf (right now I have a new version with corrected bugs) people are gonna lose all their saved data !
Is there a way to use the same shared objects over multiple swf ? Or simply to keep them over the version change ?
I created a very simple experiment to attempt to access the same shared object in Flash Player and AIR.
A Flash SWF creates a local shared object.
A AIR application (being tested from CS3 or installed) opens the same shared object.
The data does not persist. Is this theoretically possible?
tweener doesn't update myValue while passing the param while tweening. why?

I have a hitTest that is supposed to update the variable so the text of the score will go up one every time. But unfortunately, it works but it doesn't. It passes the number to the variable but the change doesn't appear until you enter the frame again. For example the money sign hits the piggy bank twice. the score will stay 0 but if you go back to the frame it will have a score of 2. How can I make it update live?Here is the code I have on the frame

I set up the point scorer like I have in other games and it doesn't move for some reason. I trace the score and it is perfect so it's my code trying to get the this.score.score_txt.text = String(this.pointsI); to record that fails

1-how to do a send score
2-my reset doesn't work
3-it won't give you a game over
4-how to make it randomally decide on having a reg apple(10 pts.) or rainbow apple(20 pts.)
I have a database all set up and working between flash and SQL .The set up allows me to add entries and receive data.. all this works great..The only problem I'm having is that when I want to update the score when clicking on a button..I can only send or receive data, and what I actually want to do is overwrite the current entry with a new entry to update the score..

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to trace the path of an object by using setPixel on the object's position every frame in a BitmapData/Bitmap pairing. These pixels aren't showing up normally and I suspect I have a fundamental misunderstanding of the BitmapData class. Here's what I'm doing:

Using this code, the red pixels don't show up. If I initialize contrailBase to 0xFF000000 instead then I get a black screen on which the red pixels DO draw, but I need the bitmap to be transparent except for the contrail. What am I doing wrong?
I've been using CS4 to create flash 10 applications. It works well in other browsers, but IE 6 will not tell the users that they need to update their Flash Player. Instead, it will play the flash as if it's a video (keep looping from frame 1 to end) without allowing any interaction..

i have this problem with my text field. i have this dynamic text field, and i want to load external text files and show them there. this all works fine and dandy but when i try to make a scrollbar along with it, it gives the height of the text field as the original one from the flash file, not the new text.

Im designing my own game in flash, iv set up a score text box and it works fine. Except i just cant seem to get it to gotoandplay another frame,scene, when it hits a certain score??
View 4 RepliesI have this when the scores should be increasing [AS]_root.score +=4;[/AS] It works the first time and goes from 0 to 4, but any time after that it just adds fours. So in the end it ends up saying "4444444444" or something. I tried it this way also:
[AS]_root.score = _root.score+4;[/AS]
But that didn't work either. It just did the same thing.
i am building a shooting game and i was wondering if it is possible to have the movie go to frame 3 if the score = 500.I.E Score is displayed in a dynamic text box and everytime the enemy is hit the:

on the first frame of the film i have the code

Just wondering if you can use more than one shared object, as my AS code doesn't act as i would think

Can I use Flash Shared Object to pass information between two different SWF files on two different pages within the same website?I know it can if the SWF files are the same. But what if they are different Flash object with different SWF files?
