ActionScript 3.0 :: Sharepoint SOAP Webservice Wraps Result (including Xml) In CData?

Mar 24, 2009

I am developing a microsite for a client. The client uses Sharepoint as their main CMS and they want the site to be driven by sharepoint.The problem is that the entire result set is wrapped with Cdata ... not just the content data. Below you can see this (some stuff has been removed to anonymize the data), and this is giving me serious problems trying to parse it.Raw data (service inspector)

Code:
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<soap:Body>[code].....

I guess I could write a parser that replaced the html entities for <,>," and ' with the actual characters but that is a crappy hack IMO. I have asked the client to try to wrap the fields and attribute data with CData instead of the whole result set but they are unsure if it is a sharepoint specific thing.

Xml :: Using Flex To Read XML In E4x Format From SOAP Webservice?

Oct 16, 2009

UPDATE: The problem was not to do with namespaces or flex at all. My webservice was returning the wrapped xml. I was blaming the language I had least experience with before questioning the java...I have a basic soap webservice that I am having trouble reading the result from in flex.I'm a solid java programmer and just trying to get my head around adobe flex.In the documentation I should be able to use "WebService" to return the result in e4x format.

<mx:WebService id="CurrentLayersWS" wsdl="http://localhost:8080/myproject/ws/myservice.wsdl" showBusyCursor="true" result="updateSelected(event)" fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString), 'Error'">
<mx:operation name="publisher" resultFormat="e4x">
<mx:request>

[code]....

Unfortunately, the event object seems to nested and encoded strangely. When I step trough with the debugger I see that responseXml is of type XMLList containing one element (at index 0) of type XML which just contains the following xml:

<sch:temp xmlns:sch="http://www.mycompany.co.uk/myproject/schemas" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<ns2:publisherResponse xmlns:ns2="http://www.mycompany.co.uk/myproject/schemas">
<getConfigurationResponse>
<configuration>
...etc

Why is my xml nested inside a document with a root node "sch:temp"?

ActionScript 2.0 :: SOAP WebService WSDL Caching

Apr 6, 2008

I start the service in Actionscript with:[code]My issue is that the server that my WSDL is on, seems to be very slow, and the WSDL file is very large. So it takes around 5 seconds to initially grab the WSDL file. This wouldn't be too bad, but for what I am doing I need to create about 5 or more WebService objects all using the same WSDL (this is a must). It seems pointless to download the WSDL for each new object when I know it is the same.What I am wanting is a way to maybe cache the WSDL locally, or in flash(maybe as an XML object), then apply it to a new WebService object. Or even if someone could tell me how to access the data inside the WebService Object and apply it to a new one.

I have tried a few ideas. I tried using a "clone object" script to clone the WebService object once the original has loaded the WSDL. But it crashed flash because the loop is too big.Is this a case to use a "prototype"? I'm not too sure what it even is. Would it be useful in this situation?

Xml :: Convert WebService Result Typed As ObjectProxy To XML?

May 28, 2009

I have a WebService that returns XML in a SOAP response:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<soap:Body>
<GetConfigResponse xmlns="Web.Services">

[Code]...

When I call this WebService the Flex debugger shows the type of the ResultEvent.result is "ObjectProxy".When I try to cast this value as XML, it traces as "[object Object]", and I cannot access the XML nodes. For most other WebServices I call, the ResultEvent.result is of type "Array", and converts to XML with no problem. What can I do to store this result as XML?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Inline XML With CDATA Error #1091: XML Parser Failure: Unterminated CDATA Section?

Aug 25, 2008

I'm trying to include some JavaScript (JSON 2, to be precise)in with some ActionScript 3 classes. I'm using the inline XML method (E4X) of declaring the data. It looks like this:

public static var JSON_2:XML = <data><![CDATA[
if (!this.JSON) {
JSON = function () {[code]....

Actually, this is only about a quarter of what I need to include but this is where it breaks down. Right after the second slash in the last line, Flash reports: TypeError: Error #1091: XML parser failure: Unterminated CDATA section.

In fact, as you can see this is a perfectly valid CDATA section and isn't being terminated anywhere (there is no instance of "]]>" anywhere in the data). Unfortunately, Flash doesn't think so and seems to think that the backslash is an XML node directive. how to effectively deal with this? The JSON source code has *many* backslashes so not having to convert them would be *very* useful.

I am wondering, however, if there is any benefit to using e.g. Ruby or PHP to consume those 3rd party services and then passing the results to Flex, versus doing it all in Flex. Other than decoupling the client code from the SOAP logic, I can't really think of one.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Sharepoint XML In Flash?

Jan 10, 2009

It loads an xml file from the site's webservice and retrieves all the data from a list.If you look at the xml, attribuevalue pairs they can be in any order from the webservice.Also depending on the list set up in sharepoint the column names in the list will be different and therefore the xml schema changes. It sets up the namespacesit the calls getRSAttribues (my shiney new piece of code It then creates a multidimensional array with the attribute names from the schema of the XML then queries the data with the dynamically set up attributes.Its my first bit of action script and i would like some advice on how to improve the getRSAttribues function as the array seems to have an extra level to it. Any advice on how i would go about making it into a method or a parser/class/whatever would be very interesting.

Asp.net :: Use Flash To Save And Read Data Within A SharePoint Site?

Nov 21, 2011

I'm a complete newbie to SharePoint and I've been tasked to develop a SharePoint site with Flash content (Flash CS3 or CS5). I've done some quick research on this and I understand there are different ways to query SharePoint. I must say it's been a long process for me to try to piece different bits of information to achieve what I'm asked to do.

So here it is. Develop a site using SharePoint 2007 with Flash content.User input in the Flash objects will be stored.Previous user input will be retrieved and displayed in the Flash objects for reviewing purpose.User input will later be processed/manipulated for reporting purposes.Embed FLV videos on certain pages. I understand data can be saved as lists in SharePoint and you can create custom ASPX to get the lists and parse it as XML input for a Flash object. Can I reverse this process when it comes to saving data?

What would be the best approach to implement the above requirements in SharePoint 2007 environment?

Or, should I consider saving data in an external DB, say MSSQL, and having custom ASPX query that DB and generate XML for Flash objects? Or maybe any APIs that can make this process easier?

Flash 8 :: Pro - Displaying Sharepoint 2003 Area News Listings

May 16, 2007

I've been tasked with producing a Flash movie which will retrieve (presumably as an array) a list of all the articles in our Sharepoint Portal 2003 news listing, and display the title and abstract text, one story at a time (looping through every item in
the array).

I presume I need to use the WebServiceConnector, and point the WDSL URL to our Area's areaservice.amsx, and then presumably use the GetAreaListingData operation to retireve the data, and hopefully pipe the data out into a couple of dynamic text boxes,but beyond that I'm a bit lost. Talk about in at the deep end, but unfortunately as the only developer on site who knows anything at all about Flash, I'm up against it to get this completed as quickly as possible..
