ActionScript 3.0 :: StyleSheet: Specifying Multiple Fonts With FontFamily?

How do I specify multiple fonts to the fontFamily property of a StyleSheet object, instead of the single (Arial) I've set below?
Code:
var subtitles_english:Object = {

I'm very confused about this and I'm not sure what steps to take to do this right. I tested some different ways but not sure whether I'm doing well or not. For instance, a font is embedded in the FLA file by using Library -> new Font -> and choosing its properties like this:
[Code]...
the text is displayed eye-candy, just as I want it to be shown, including a default margin between lines, bigger than before, and another even bigger margin between paragraphs, which is by default as well because I didn't specify any margin. Perfect!
However despite I commented that line, I'm not sure whether in this case I'm actually not allowing the use of the imported fonts in the FLA, and Flash is using the user's system fonts instead, because the fontFamily property of every style is still using their custom classes.

I've got a flash project with an empty content clip instance called content_mc. Depending on the button pressed, it attaches a movieclip from the library with the name contentDisplay_mc under content_mc. Now the structure of these subclips are pretty much the same with a textbox called Display. The code on Frame 1 of main timeline:
//tell Flash to display special characters
System.useCodepage=true;
var cssStyles = new TextField.StyleSheet();
var generic_lv = new LoadVars();

I have created a dynamic text box, made itscrollable and added a scroll bar. I have entered my text and now want to set off a quote from the person making the statement so I want to make the person's name italics. However, when I highlight the text (it is on a separate line) and click italics - all of the text turn to italics. Is there a way just to have one line in a different font?

Here is my issue : I have a dynamic html text field, to which i passed html text / textformat such as : <P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Trebuchet MS" SIZE="14" COLOR="#000000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">Some text<B>some bold text</B><I><U>and some italic underline</U></I></FONT></P>My problem is, i can't use embedfonts because if i do, and use Trebuchet MS for instance, the bold tag will never render as in flash you have to select if the font your embed is bold or not. I'm trying to avoid to convert the whole htmltext/textformat thing to a CSS one..

I am making a Flash movie where a user can change the font of a text field(AS3), and due to the embedded fonts functionality even fonts that ar not on the users computer can be selected.The problem is that I can embed only one font per text field. This should be no issue because they are embedded in the example text and are included in the library. But this does not work!It does not matter whether I use the font name or the name of the font in the library with trailing '*', it simply shows _serifThis problem drives me cray because it disables the main feature of the application.

I have a couple questions about dynamic text fields. Is it possible to embed multiple fonts? Are color and font size dynamic? Is there a way to make scalable text? Is there a way to make a the contents of a dynamic text field a link to whatever URL might be typed into it?

I am using sifr3 and I know it is supposed to let you use multiple fonts in one line. I have tried a number of changes with my sifr.css and sifr_config.js files to no avail. I tried using spans, sub class of h1, etc. Sample Link: [URL]

I'm using Flash CS5 , Actionscript 3.0 and export fo Flash Plaer 10.
I create a class, myHtmlText.as, that builds a basic TextField. I create an empty file myHtmlText.fla I embedded two fonts inside the myHtmlText.fla: "Ghotam Light" and "Ghotam Book"; I selected all characters for each font and exported for actionscript with the following linkage name: "GhotamBook" and "GhotamLight"
I wish to use the fonts embedded, in the TextField using htmlText, like this:
var tf:TextField = createTextField(10, 10, 400, 22); tf.htmlText = '<p><font face="GhotamBook">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</font></p>';
//tf.embedFonts = true;
[Code]....
but it does not work; the text is not displayed; If I use .text instead fo .htmlText, the latin text is displayed with a system font.

After a lot of experiments and reading many articles, Q&As, I still didn't find the answers to my problem, then I decided to ask my question at great stackoverflow forum:-)
The setup of my project is as follows:
- Create an AS3 project in Flash Builder 4 (Main.as3proj), and write source code in it;
- Create graphical assets in Flash CS5;
- Load the graphical assets in the AS3 project;
In the graphical assets (swfs), there are text fields, we would like to use Embedded fonts for the text fields. But we don't want to embed the fonts in all swfs, we want to create a swf as a font library (FontLib.swf), that embed all the fonts needed across all the graphical assets (swfs).
After loading or embedding the FontLib.swf to the main application (Main.swf), the embedded fonts is availabe: TextField.isFontCompatible(myFontName, myFont)
is true. And when I create a TextField with the embedded font at runtime, it works fine. But besides this, I want to use the embedded fonts for the TextFields in other graphical assets like what I described at the begging, but when I try to change the text for the dynamic text field in a movie clip, the text field will disappear. (Before changing the text, it can be displayed because Flash CS5 automatically embed the fonts for the characters already input in the fla/swf file).
I tried to clone the text field with the same properties of the text field in the movie clip and replaced the old one, as I said, this works as other text fields created at run time. But I have other problem with cloning and replacing the text fields in movie clip. I wonder if there is a way to instruct the flash player to use the externally loaded embedded fonts for the text fields in movie clip.

I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

Edited Short Version:The Adobe Flash docs list a property embedFonts on TextAreas:
A Boolean value that indicates whether the font specified in fontFamily is an embedded font. This style must be set to true if fontFamily refers to an embedded font. Otherwise, the embedded font is not used. If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed. The default value is false. Regarding the "If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed" statement: How can I detect in ActionScript when this scenario happens?
TL;DR Original Version: I have a flash application which loads external .swf files containing embedded fonts, so that these fonts can be used within the main application. We're accomplishing this by using the following ActionScript code on anything which uses custom fonts:

Right I can upload the font to the server.But the only examples I can find - require registerFont(Verdana);Which means I'll need to create a new SWF with the new font embedded and reupload to the server. I need an automated way of doing this or perhaps something different altogether?

I am working on a large project that displays a fair amount of text.how to best handle the formatting of the text globally? what is the best way to handle the text formatting on a global level ? Through the TextFormat class, through style sheets, a combination of these two depending on the specific situation ?
Is it a best practice for large projects to use style sheets for all of the texts ? Implying that all texts must be written with tags.Using only style sheets seems like the best approach at this time to me but before going into coding this approach on a large scale in my project,

I don't know how to test this and I think I'm over thinking it, but here is the situation:Let's say I have a styleSheet that is assigned as a public static var of a Class.Then, in various other Classes, I'm dynamically creating TextFields and assigning their styleSheet property to the static styleSheet varI eventually remove those said TextFields from the DisplayObject they're on and delete all references. Even though they've been removed/cleared, are they retained in memory because they still contain reference to the static var styleSheet? i.e. should I be setting textField.styleSheet=null; before removing?

When I add a style to some text it seems to changed the textHeight even though there is not any extra characters in my text. When I do a test before adding the style its 16.9 height then after the style is added it goes to 31.9. why this is happening and if there is a way to stop this from happening.
Code:
label.fld.styleSheet = setCSS();
private function setCSS():StyleSheet {
var bold:Object = new Object();

I was wondering if this can be done? I want to format my content that's in an XML file, being loaded to a dynamic text box using AS3? I've been trying to do this and find any information on the this task. When I put everything together the XML file shows up in the dynamic text box without any styles being applied to it. (As if its ignoring it.)
Code:
var cssLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
var cssRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("content.css");
