ActionScript 2.0 :: Attaching Stylesheet To Multiple Text Boxes?

Nov 12, 2005

I've got a flash project with an empty content clip instance called content_mc. Depending on the button pressed, it attaches a movieclip from the library with the name contentDisplay_mc under content_mc. Now the structure of these subclips are pretty much the same with a textbox called Display. The code on Frame 1 of main timeline:

//tell Flash to display special characters
System.useCodepage=true;
var cssStyles = new TextField.StyleSheet();
var generic_lv = new LoadVars();

(As if its ignoring it.)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Multiple Text Boxes Into 1 Spot On Stage?

Apr 3, 2011

I am wanting to have several separate blocks of text appear in the same spot on my stage. Here are the specifics. I have 8 buttons each controlling their own block of text. When one of the buttons (button1) is clicked its text appears. When the user clicks another button (button2) button1's text goes away and button 2's text appears. The text boxes are sitting in my library and not on the stage. What AS functions do I need to get this to work? A Case/switch or For/while or just an if else? I would like to keep from using event listeners(which may not be AS 2 anyway).

I'm Trying to develop a small game where the user chooses from a range of boxes of the left of screen and can drag 3 of them separatley to 3 holding boxes on ther right. each box can be dragged to any location and the order is not important. Once the 3 holding boxes are all full I want a new button to appear. ActionScript 2.0 :: Attaching And Managing Multiple Movieclips?

Jun 14, 2011

way to attach multiple movieclips from the library to the stage is and name them in an appropriate way, then refer to them as if they were an array: fielder[i]. I have tried a few approaches but the closest I have got is this: (this is attached to a movieclip already on the stage).

Code:
onClipEvent (load) {
for (i = 1; i <= 5; i++) {
_root.attachMovie("fielder","fielder" + [i],this.getNextHighestDepth());

ActionScript 3.0 :: Attaching And Managing Multiple Movieclips?

I have used AS2 for a long time, and have decided it is time to start working with AS3. When attaching multiple movieclips with instance names I would normally do this (AS2):

Code:

_root.attachMovie("test_mc","test_mc" + i,(300 + i),{_x:fx[i], _y:fy[i]});
_root["test_mc" + i]._width = 26.1;
}

but I am struggling to get the same effect with AS3. here is what I have so far...

Flash :: IDE - Attaching Multiple Url Links To Project

Apr 26, 2009

I have a very simple flash project that I need to be completed tommorow or my head is in the block! I am new to Flash and Actionscript but work well with PHP so do have some idea of what I am doing but, this has left me stumped and in trouble if I don't get it done! Basically my movie is very simple. I have a background and after a short break my first scene flys on with one link then leaves - then the second with a different link, then the third.

I converted all links to buttons and gave them instance names 'button1_btn', button2_btn' and 'button3_btn' and then added my new layer for the action script. Below is the actionscript I used to make the buttons work:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Attaching Mask Dynamically To Multiple Instances?

I am attaching six movies via the attachMovie method. I have put all six of these instances into an array and everything's going smoothly as all box's move around in random places and bounce around around a little. Only problem is I want to mask all 6 of these instances via setMask so they are restricted to one area but can't seem to figure out how to do that.If that's not possible I would also love to know if there is a way to do collision testing with them and then I could draw a border around the area I want them to stay in and have them bounce around that (I would actually prefer this)

3D Cubes - Event Listeners And Multiple Rotating Boxes

Feb 22, 2011

I've created a grid of 3D cubes using modulus, and the 3d cubes are were created from the Math and Flash tutorial. I have set up listeners so when the mouse hovers over a cube it starts to rotate:
private function setUpListeners():void {
spBoard.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT,boardOut);
}
That works fine.

To begin the rotation of the cube when the mouse passes over it I have used:
private function boardOut(e:MouseEvent):void {
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,rotateSquare);
var i:int = 1;
function rotateSquare(e:Event) {
renderView(curTheta+i,curPhi+i);
i++;
}}

I can see why this would be inefficient, as it is running the loop every every frame, and for so many multiple cubes it just lags (very badly). I should clarify, I'm hoping for the rotation to continue indefinitely once the mouse moves off the cube. Here is how I am creating the cubes onto the "grid":

public function FlowerMenu(){
var rowY:Number = 0;
for (var i:int = 0; i < 190; i++) {
[Code] .....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Access Data From The Text Boxes (e.g. TextField.text) For Use In The Functions Called By The EventListeners Attached The Buttons?

Nov 1, 2008

The code I'm building creates two MovieClips on the stage, in one it instantiates several text boxes and in the other some buttons.

What I can't do is access data from the text boxes (e.g. textField.text) for use in the functions called by the eventListeners attached the buttons. I had the system all working nicely before I placed the text boxes and the buttons on separate movie clips.but this structure makes it much tidier to refresh the text I'm using.The button functions are fine with variables created prior to the building of the text boxes.

Am I failing to address the text boxes correctly (because they're on another movie clip) or is there a stage / movie clip property I need to set so they can see each other ... or is this something else altogether?Could it be that the buttons are created before the text boxes?

Professional :: Auto-fitting Text Boxes To Text?

Aug 31, 2011

Is it possible to tell a text box to auto fit to its text? What I mean is that when i change the size of a font to something smaller the text box remains its old large self. This is a problem because when I want to align this text with several other text boxes that have gone through similar treatment, the alignment will take into account the full box size rather than just the text.

So basically I have to go and manually shorten each text box. Which is a pain when you have to deal with a lot of text. Is there a script or button/option I'm not aware of that will auto fit the box constantly?
