View 1 RepliesI am creating a crossword puzzle that has for example 5 single character text boxes in a row that the user can fill out. Right now the user has to either press tab or click in the next text input box to fill in the next letter. Is there a way to make it automatically tab to the next text input field after a single character has been entered into the first box? That way they could just type the word and not have to worry about tabbing and clicking.

My problem is that I need to get the autosized height instead of the regular height of the text box before autosize. In a parent movie clip I have the following code to do some custom scrolling:
[Code]....
Is there an autofocus for a input text field box..like when u load the swf its already focused?
Also is there like a autoscroll like when a Dynamic text Field gets too full it just shifts down?
I've had a good look around but couldn't find anything that directly solves my problem.There are several posts which are along the right lines, but I can't get my head around it in order to fix the issue.I need to automatically resize the text so that it doesn't exceed the width of the button. The maximum length for my sized text appears to be 13 characters before it will become too large.The program starts by dynamically creating several buttons, filling them with the title and description as set in an XML document.
To add the text I have this code:
var tform:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
tform.size = 20;
[code].....
Problem: I am trying to get a very simple text resize going, for my main content area in a flash website. My aim is to get a button, that on click, increases the text size of a dynamic text field.
[Code]....
This is what I tried, I am very new to Action Script, so excuse the futility of my code.
I'm working on an A.S 2 document that loads chunks of text from an xml file and places them in different dynamic text boxes. The amount of text in each section differs but each one has to appear one after the other regardless of the size.At the minute I'm trying to position the second one beneath the first by making its y value 10 + the height of the first one. however the height that i keep getting is the original one and not the re-sized one.
Africadetails.autoSize = true;
Africaname.autoSize = true;
Africadetails._y = (Africaname._y) + (Africaname._height) + (10);
AfricaURL._y = (Africadetails._y) + (Africadetails._height) + (10);

View 3 RepliesI have a few text fields where text is driven from a .txt file on the server. I would like to have the ability to change the size of the font (which is embedded) to a larger/smaller size from a server .txt file (the same one as the copy comes from) to make a sort of style sheet for the copy.I have already done this for the colour of the 'movieclip' containing the font using this;
onClipEvent(load){
changedcolour = new Color(this);
changedcolour.setRGB(_root.offState_1);

What is the best way to dynamically size a text field?I've been able to size the width (probably not the best way), but how about the height? What variable can I use to find the number of lines used in a text field?[code]
View 2 RepliesI have a dynamic text box, with font size 160 and College font. (everything's embedded bla bla bla )I'm building a little application that with the press of a button you change the font in the dynamic field

So ive been asked to build a page for a real state company and the guy told me it should be similar to these [URL] Ive been trying a couple of weeks so far, but i dont seem to find a way to do somthing similar, i mean, i want to have the welcome screen as those two:
- the gradient background
- flash occupies whole screen no matter what size it is
- gradient expands sideways infinately
- no matter what height my explorer window is, gradient is always in the same position relative to top, and if i keep expanding downwards the background keeps last colour of the gradient.
- the brand logo looks as if it had top, left and right anchors, and it also limitates the minimum width of the explorer window
i though of addind a 3000 x 3000px square with the gradient and centering it, but i know there has to be a professional way of achieving that.
I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.
Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.

I have a dynamic text field which gets updated via an input text field on the stage!
I just need to know how I can reduce the size of the dynamic text font when there are too many letters in the text box!
I've tried this code :
this.result1.onChanged = function() {
myTextFormat = new TextFormat();
myTextFormat.size = 25-(this.text.length/2);
[Code]....
I have the following code, but changing the .size does not affect it at all.
ActionScript Code:
createTextField("my_txt",400, (_xmouse+15),(_ymouse-20),160, 80);
my_txt.multiline = true;[
thats all i need to do. anyone know how??
View 1 RepliesI am using a downloaded script and it is helping me out tremendously. After a little manipultion it is doing wonders for my intended project. The script yields a nunber into a dynamic text field that I would like to enlarge. In other words, make the font larger. I changed the size of the text field but the font size didn't change.Here's my script:
stop();
if (!initialized){
memory = 0;[code]...........
I'm using evt.target.borderColor = 0xff00000 to successfully change the color of a dynamic text filed that is the target Now I'm trying to change the border size. borderSize isn't being accepted, so I was wondering if there is an attribute to change the border size of a text field? My internet searches are coming up with nothing that works.

View 1 RepliesIs there a way to determine what the width of a Text Field should be if the string length and the font size are known. I realize that every font have different letter size but don`t know how to get to that value

This is what I want to do:
On screen resolutions up to 800x600, I want my Flash movie to resize to 100% width and height of the browser window. On screen resolutions higher than 800x600, I want the Flash movie to be a fixed size (say 800px x 600px exactly).

When a Dynamic Multiple line text field is used in Flash CS3, it has a very annoying feature that auto inserts a line break at the end of inserted text. It also auto inserts a line break if no text is entered too.
I'm having a problem with this because the text is being saved from flash to a text file on the desktop. With every multi-line text field there's a nasty looking line break.
Any way of "turning off" this auto-line-break-at-the-end feature?

View 2 RepliesWhile creating one photo gallery I am facing one problem in controlling the Font Color, Font Size and other characteristics of a text loaded into a text field from an XML File. Currently I'm using javascript which works fine to pass text from textfield A to textfield B:
Code:
window.onload=function()
{
document.forms.form1.shirtText.value=document.forms.form1.KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38.value
}
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
trying to change the font size of the "text" field. However no mater what i've tried doing to the css file, the font size doesn't change.
