I have a SWF with a few buttons. The text on the buttons does not show up, as if the alpha is set to zero. This only seems to happen with certain versions of IE in combination with certain versions of Windows.This is a SWF that someone else created. It is placed on the page with Javascript. I do not have the option of recreating this at this point.

Basically I want to get the text fields in my Flash translated. To achieve this, I have the translations in a XML file and all text fields are dynamic. I read the XML (dependent on a language calling parameter from the HTML) and set the text fields like:
this["text_1"].text = "Hello";
The "text_1" and "Hello" are of course retrieved from the XML and I use variables in my code.
Now to the problem: I can successfully set the text field, that is visible in the Frame 1 (where my script is executed), but setting text fields that appear later give me an error. Translated it means something like Null Pointer not accessible. So I assume, that the this["text_x"] can not be found.
Is there a way to access it without copying the script into each text element? I have also thought about events, e.g. when the text is shown the first time and I do the translation then (would have to cache the XML at startup then to save time), but didn't find anything.
I've been doing some simple text fades by keyframing the alpha values. Everything is fine on the stage, but when I publish it I can see a slightly translucent bounding box around the text. It's even visible on text I haven't animated. I've done fades before, but never ran into this problem. [URL]

Now the image in the background is slightly tilted so I have to rotate the text box a bit and I do this the text disappeares.
Any Idea how to get that rotated text box visible when rotated?
If you play fallingBlocks.swf you can see text in the upper left corner. Now if you go to moviePage.swf and click the little square at the top it loads fallingBlock.swf but the text is not displayed. The text is embedded.

Recently I found an interesting issue for me. There is one simple file that reads the content of xml file and shows it. Everything is working fine in the browser and on the server. But some people told me that they can not see the flash text content. Instead of it they see some strange symbols. What might be the problem? I think that I have to embed the font of the text fields. I should also mention that the text content is not in English, it is in different language. What should be the format of the xml file?

I am using Flash CS3. Form has 4 text fields as in this image. [url].... Instance names for fields are t1, t2, t3, t4, and Variable names are as shown in the action script description. When i run the flash, Form looks ok but without the placeholder text, as Name or email etc.

As the object is rectangular, I figured putting a white button the same size on a white background on a layer underneath the object would do this, but I can't seem to make it happen.I'm a complete novice, frustrated as I've been trying to achieve this all day and I'm sure it should be pretty simple, but could you give me the idiots guide. I know how to name an instance, make an object, script in actions on a separate layer. My main character is visible in the beginning of the game (where the main menu is) and because I coded it so that all of the enemies don't spawn unless the main character is visible, the enemies spawn too. As a result, if you stay at the main menu for long enough, the score continues to go up, the health goes down when enemies attack, etc.

im trying to do it as dynamic as possible. I have a few buttons on the main interface, and the text for the buttons are loading from a txt file on the CD. What i want to do is have a variable in the txt file "y" or "n" so that if the button is not needed then i can hide it. I have got a dynamic text box on the root, to pick up the y or n and then what i want is if the text box says "y" then the button is visible if it says "n" then button is not. I am unable to visualize the audio waveform in my flash timeline. I need to synchronize audio voiceover work and this is impossible to do without being able to see the timeline.
I am using CS4.....in previous versions I was able to see the waveform but no go for this version.....
I had a question if there is a way to set the stage as not visible? Meaning the .swf stage is transperent and takes the properties of the bg image of the bg of the page its laid on? I'm trying to steer away from just using flash for the site and using a mixture of flash elements in a css site but I can't seem to get the stage to be transparent.

All of them move up the stage and are activated with a separate key press and it works ok first time. The following times going up the stage, the fifth and sixth movie clips are not visible on the first row, but are on the second row. The following code is what I am using for each clip - just repeated and named accordingly.

View 3 RepliesI have my preloader which seems to be working correctly, however it only becomes visible as around 80%. So the page is blank up until then, then after that the loading bar is finishing and then goes to the rest of the site.
View 11 RepliesI have a dynamic text field. I have added a font object in the library, and selected that embedded font for my text field. I am using the font size I embedded. I also opened the Embed window & selected the characters I want.
When I do all of this, the text does not display in the text field. If I select DON'T embed from the embed window, then my text shows up, although, not in the right font.
