ActionScript 3.0 :: Tweens Ruining Object Positioning?

Jul 12, 2010

Here's the issue. Say you have a Sprite, on this sprite you have 2 other sprites positioned precisely. For example, you have a Character Sprite. On this Character Sprite it has 2 children, the base, and the hair. It's very important that they're positioned precisely for it to look correctly. Now say for moving the character you have some tweens in place. You tween the character object that contains both the base and the hair sprites. Sometimes, not always but quite frequently, afterwards the two sprites within the character sprite (base and hair) aren't positioned correctly.

I was wondering, is there a way to change if (myClip_mc._x < 400) { to a relative position of myClip_mc. I mean, i want myClip_mc to move 100px from it's current position everytime the button is clicked. Instead of only moving it if it's x position is less than 400. So it needs to somehow check it's current position everytime the button is clicked and then make it shift from that position. I know this is a long winded way of doing it but i want it this way so i can use it for something different.

Professional :: Consecutive Tweens On Same Object?

Mar 16, 2010

I'm new to Flash, In CS4, is it possible to add two consecutive tweens to the same object (symbol instance)? Say I want to have a shape move in from the left, wait a few seconds, and then move back out towards the left. Thus far, the only method I've found is to create a copy of the object (a new instance of the symbol), and animate it separately. But that creates extra objects, and getting the positioning right is very difficult. Isn't there a way to have one tween end and another begin (possibly after a delay) on the same object in the same layer? Or in different layers, which might be preferable?

There is a small issue that I am not able to solve. Me and my friend are working on a school presentation with many images. The images load as a gallery of piled cards which can be moved and rotated. Now I need to add text on the frame and want it to be aligned to the right of the screen. The stage is aligned to the top left corner. Now the problem is that the text doesn't place itself at the right position on the screen.

I want the flip to be a strictly horizontal flip over the y axis. What am I doing wrong?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Replace The Tweens With Flash's Built-in Tweens

When I want to ask for a small fee for my app, I'm not allowed to use TweenLite. So I started thinking I could probably replace the tweens with Flash's built-in Tweens. BUT I'm also using rotationY. Flash doesn't support this as far as I know. Are there Tween engines out there with a copyleft?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Positioning MCs According To Height?

Aug 24, 2010

I need to create the attached jpg, but i'm not sure of the best way to tackle it. The news posts are loaded from XML and will vary in height so they need to somehow be sorted so that if one is going to come off the page, then it's put into the next page - where the user will click the scroll buttons to view.

1/ Load article from XML

2/ Create a postMC_0 and add article bits to it (date, title, body)

3/ Record height

4/ Create a newsColumn_0 and add postMC_0 to it

Then a loop:

5/ Load next article

6/ Create a postMC_1 and add article bits to it

7/ If difference between postMC_0 height and newsColumn_0 height is greater than the height of postMC_1, then add postMC_1 to newsColumn_0.

8/ If not, then create newsColumn_1 and add postMC_1 to it.

9/ Loop back to 5 (increasing the numbers each time, so postMC_2, etc) Then just make the scroll buttons function according to how many columns have been created..

Flash :: Get Positioning After Rotation?

Nov 28, 2011

I built an app in flash where you can rotate objects and save positions and rotation to xml.... that xml then feeds html to produce a layout that is then rendered the a pdf It seems that every time it goes to the html, a rotated object in positioned a little to the lower right then the position in flash.

I know the rotation in css in different, but I think if I can find the true top left of the rotated object in flash and pass that it will solve the issue.

I tried this

newx = imageHolder.parent.localToGlobal(new Point(imageHolder.x,0)).x;
newy = imageHolder.parent.localToGlobal(new Point(0,imageHolder.y)).y;
also this imageHolder.parent.globalToLocal(imageHolder.localToGlobal(imageHolder.getBounds(imageHolder).topLeft));

neither work. Is there something else?

mc0._visible = mc1._visible = mc2._visible = mc3._visible =mc4._visible =mc5._visible = false;[code]....

The strange thing is that only some mcs are positioned randomly and others stay in the same position.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Positioning MCs And Textfields?

May 1, 2007

Here's my code:

Code:
for (var i = 0; i<nTotalPics; i++) {
main.createEmptyMovieClip( "container"+i, i );
var container:MovieClip = main["container"+i];
container.createEmptyMovieClip( "pic"+i, i );

[code]....

First, if I add "trace (pic._name);" inside the onLoadInit function it outputs "pic3,pic2,pic1,pic0". Why does it show up in reverse order of the for-loop?

Second, is the "pic:MovieClip" in "mclListener.onLoadInit = function(pic:MovieClip)" pointing to the "pic" in "mcl.loadClip( astrImages[i], pic );"? If not, what is it pointing to? If it is, can I add another variable after "pic" so that I can pass it inside the onLoadInit function? Ultimately what I would like to do is create a textfield under each pic.

IDE :: How To Use The New Tweens

Mar 30, 2010

how to use the new tweens. All easing seems to mess up my animations. When I apply easing it makes the animation happen before the keyframes that I've set it up for. Instead of easing between the keyframes that the animation is happening on its doing it before those keyframes.

Positioning. I have an animation that has several keyframed animations ahead of it for scaling and alpha. Later down the line I need to change its position but when I try to do that its not moving at the keyframe where i want it to but is instead moving it at the beginning of the animation sequence. I've tried manually inserting a posiiton keyframe at the beginning of where I want the position animation to start and then moving forward in the timeline to where I want the position to end and change the position there but still the same thing is happening.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash 5 - X And Y Positioning Of MovieClip

Oct 28, 2009

I always run into the same bug concerning the x and y positioning of a Movie clip. When I try to get the X and Y values of a movie clip inside another movie clip, they aren't the same values (since I guess every MC has it's own x,y grid starting at point 0,0 where that MC is placed on the work area). How do I get the x and y values of a MC inside another MC when I want those values to be the same as the _root's x and y values? In other words: The movie clip that is inside the other one is moving on a simple guide path. I want to create "lasers" (or whatever) at its own coordinates every few seconds depending on where that moving MC is at when the shooting counter is up.
