Arrays :: Positioning Using Previous Object Y Coordinate And Height
May 4, 2011
trying to loop out some pictures using a for loop and cant get them to be posiotioned directly beneath the previous picture, I have set the height number in my xml where I get the pictures from.[code]This is how the code should look like if you are trying to place pictures directly beneath the previously added picture using a class with parameters, in this case the "LoadExternaly" is that class.
I am wanting to take the average x co-ordinate of several movieclips, mc_01, mc_02, etc. using arrays. That is, I would like to sum all the x co-ordinates and then divide by the number of movieclips.
I need to create the attached jpg, but i'm not sure of the best way to tackle it. The news posts are loaded from XML and will vary in height so they need to somehow be sorted so that if one is going to come off the page, then it's put into the next page - where the user will click the scroll buttons to view.
1/ Load article from XML
2/ Create a postMC_0 and add article bits to it (date, title, body)
3/ Record height
4/ Create a newsColumn_0 and add postMC_0 to it
Then a loop:
5/ Load next article
6/ Create a postMC_1 and add article bits to it
7/ If difference between postMC_0 height and newsColumn_0 height is greater than the height of postMC_1, then add postMC_1 to newsColumn_0.
8/ If not, then create newsColumn_1 and add postMC_1 to it.
9/ Loop back to 5 (increasing the numbers each time, so postMC_2, etc) Then just make the scroll buttons function according to how many columns have been created..
I have a problem with an flash object. The object is an expanding topbanner, but when retracted, the on mouse over effect still appears on the invisible part of the banner. The code is the following:
I have 3 square. smallest square s3 is inside s2. s2 is in side s1. each is 10px larger [code]how can I find the coordinate of child in its parent's coordinate system?
I have a menu, that moves left and right using a move left and move right button that makes more of the menu come into view in the left and right direction.I want the object to stop moving when it's at the beginning and stop moving at the end.I thought I could set a 'max x coordinate' so that if previous was hit the object would not move anymore to the left but it still does.Here is the code I tried to use that doestn' work:
I was wondering, is there a way to change if (myClip_mc._x < 400) { to a relative position of myClip_mc. I mean, i want myClip_mc to move 100px from it's current position everytime the button is clicked. Instead of only moving it if it's x position is less than 400. So it needs to somehow check it's current position everytime the button is clicked and then make it shift from that position. I know this is a long winded way of doing it but i want it this way so i can use it for something different.
Here's the issue. Say you have a Sprite, on this sprite you have 2 other sprites positioned precisely. For example, you have a Character Sprite. On this Character Sprite it has 2 children, the base, and the hair. It's very important that they're positioned precisely for it to look correctly. Now say for moving the character you have some tweens in place. You tween the character object that contains both the base and the hair sprites. Sometimes, not always but quite frequently, afterwards the two sprites within the character sprite (base and hair) aren't positioned correctly.
I have an object which is assigned a number of properties:
var project_array:Array = []; var slideObject:Object = { project_title : myXML.projects.project[i].title.toUpperCase(),
[Code].....
but I'm not quite sure where to place this. If I place it outside of the object constructor, I get "term is undefined", I guess because it doesn't know what project_clips_array is - but if I declare project_clips_array in the constructor, it appears to need to be defined, i.e. I can't create a blank property. But I can't place it in the constructor either, because it doesn't seem to allow me to run a function within an object constructor. What is the proper syntax or arrangement of code for executing this function to get the array within the object?
so i am giving these objects random x and y coordinates on the stage, but i need each object to be spaced apart from each other (lets say 20px) how can i achieve this. I have got the following code:
ActionScript Code: for(var i:int=0;i<=bubbleNumber;i++){ var bubble:Bubble = new Bubble();
There is a small issue that I am not able to solve. Me and my friend are working on a school presentation with many images. The images load as a gallery of piled cards which can be moved and rotated. Now I need to add text on the frame and want it to be aligned to the right of the screen. The stage is aligned to the top left corner. Now the problem is that the text doesn't place itself at the right position on the screen.
I'm having a little difficulty getting to grips with the getBounds() Movie Clip function. I assumed the getbounds() method simply got the boundary coordinates for the movie Clip, that one could use to draw a rectangle. This is what I'm trying to do;I'm trying to get a movie clips coordinate bounds, and use the min and max values of x and y to draw rectangle around the object. Simple right? But in my case, I'm getting some unexpected results. I wonder does ther registration point of the object determine the coordinate values? Also are the coordinate values local to the clip instance or global to the stage?
I am getting problem of memory of having repeating object. Below is my code.
import flash.system.System; var counter:Number=0; var systemMemory:TextField=new TextField(); systemMemory.x=200; stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,showNext); function showNext(event:Event){ [Code] .....
Above code does repeat textField Object continuously. Now I want to destroy previous created textField Object. So that my memory will not be hang. I got some where in the blog that with System.gc() could clear garbage collection. But currently I am not working with system.gc any more I want to clear previous object in programatically way. Is there any way that I could destroy previous created object?
can the date object be used to determine the calendar dates of the days preceding and following today?i.e.- if i use the date object to return that today is Wednesday, October 10, can i use it to determine that yesterday was October 11 and Tomorrow is October 12?I need to be able to do this for a custom application that displays info per MTWTF..i need to be able to have it automatically display real calendar dates (so it knows if it's the 31st or 28th or whatever and the next day is the 1st).
I'm having accessing an object i previously added to my stage. Or at least give me some direction, or tell me if there is an easier way entirely to achieve what I'm doing.
my program is i can choose several movie to load and the movies are save in an array... For example: i choose movie 1 , 2 and 3. Movie 1 was loaded. After i lick 'next 'button, movie 2 will be show .Beside that,if i click 'previous' button, movie 1 will be show. i facing a problem that my previous button is not back to my previous loaded movie but is trace my choices in arrays backward. The next problem is, my first movie load to the second movie load will be a bit lagging. but the rest 1 is ok.
If I create a rectangle with 100px width and 100px height and then rotate it, the size of the element's "box" will have increased.With 45 rotation, the size becomes about 143x143 (from 100x100).Doing sometimes like cos(angleRad) * currentWidth seems to work for 45 rotation, but for other bigger angles it doesn't.At the moment I am doing this:
var currentRotation = object.rotation; object.rotation = 0; var normalizedWidth = object.width;
So I hava array Links and array Params with same langth NSo what I need is to create an object where for each link from Links I will be able to see param from ParamsAnd than for example to be abble to call something like
for each( item in object) if (item.param == "some value") { // some code
I'm creating two different arrays and pushing a number of objects into each of them. Some objects get pushed into *both* arrays, and these objects often contain their own array of objects as well.Now, when I replace one of these nested objects (an child object in the array of one of the objects that exists in *both* of the top-level arrays) with a different object in *one* of the arrays, the change doesn't seem to reflect in the other array that this object is also in.
I've simplified it for testing, removing the nested array, and the same still seems to hold true: replacing one object in one array with an entirely new one seems to only replace it in one array. This sort of makes sense, but is there some way I can get around this? In testing I've figured out that changing *properties* of the same object in two arrays works fine and reflects in both, but not replacing an object entirely. Some sample code below.
Test code:
Code: var arrayOne:Array = new Array(); var arrayTwo:Array = new Array(); for (var q:int=0; q<3; q++) { var newObject:Object = new Object();
I have various movies clip within a movie and my back (mc = arr2_mc) and next (mc = arr1_mc) buttons are on the main scene.This is on my main scene on a first frame
when it goes back, it goes back frame by frame without stopping but I want it to go only to previous Scene. instead of going to previous frame.Do i have to create a unique button? which i did but i didn't work?
I have an array of objects. What I would like to do is get the last index of an object whose property equals a certain value. Ex: // this occurs on a mouse click var stockObj:Object = new Object(); stockObj.ID = "an_id"; stockObj.category = "a_category"; array.push(stockObj); //psuedo trace(array.lastIndexOf(stockObj.category=="a_category")); I would like this to trace the index of the object whose category property equals "a_category"
I have a movieclip that contains two frames, each frame contains a different set of buttons.
it seems that i cannot add the event listeners to buttons that are not in my current viewed frame.
so.. problem one: is there a way to add event listeners to all the elements in the movieclip even if the elements are in a different frame.
problem two: after I added an event listener to some elements in current frame and then I move forward to the next frame and go back to the same frame, all the event listeners are removed and i need to initialize them again. is there a way to resolve the issue without the need to re-initialize the event listeners ?
I am a very fresh guy in flash, I have experince in Javascript , C++ and other programming languages. So I am very much interested in doing task with Action script and get results which are not possible by GUI.I want increase the height of Movie clip using action script, So I tried to increase .height property the height increased but It increased in both direction top & bottom) I want to keep it bottom fix. I tried ScaleY, too but no luck.Somehow we can adjust the bottom after resizing but it won;t give good effect when we are using tweening or other animation.
