I want to be able to use it in another movie, in a specific location.I think the way I've made it means that I can't position it anywhere i want in the other movie..... because placement is described fairly absolutely......
I am generating some dynamic movieclips [reading polygons from SVG] and then adding them to a container movieclip [it happens to be a movieclip/class which was exported from FlashMC]. Now all these new movieclips are generated at runtime and I am not assured of their X and Y coordinates; I want them to be at a place where parent MC's co-ordiante falls.... say x:10, y:10.
Now the issue is i can not use MouseEvent.localX / stageX as I want the placement to happen soon after the MCs are generated. I hope I have described it to major extent...
I am using this actionscript to obtain full screen flash in AS2 but am having problems positioning mcs on the y axis (the x is no problem).

I am trying to get the mc "buttons" position in the top right of the browser window but I cant get the height value correct. When the width is used on its own it works perfectly.
I want to change the value of a variable which is inside another flash movie .I have loaded the swf file.Inside the 'onLoadInit' function i wrote the code like below.
Is there any way to dynamically name a varaiable or created movie clip? I know that I could make an array of movie clips, but what I really want to do is make a new movie clipe name based on another name. The reason I want to do so is that I want to pass a movie clip to a function and have it make a new movie clip (to contain the first) with a slight variation of the test such as "frame" or "handle" which I can then use to center the source movie clip.
What I'm trying to do is setup a function that shoots through a set of buttons within a subset and creates click code for these buttons.
THe three variables are the identifiers for the actual keyframe i wish to jump to, the movieclip in which i want to perform the action and the actual button to go to the right frame.
Presently the problem I'm having is that the variables aren't stored when the onRelease functions are created, so they all are just calling the LAST variables declared.
Here's a sample of the code I currently have
Code: //function to load canvas/acrylic function setSwatches(mySwatchCount:Number, myContainer:String) {
I am trying to load an image in to a dynamically created movieclip, which is:
_root.mySlider."+stripX2(band[i][0])+i
but I can't seem to reference it. I can load the movie into _root.mySlider, but if I add the dynamic element (stripX2(band[i][0])+i) without quotes it it doesn't load. If I load with quotes i.e.
"_root.mySlider."+stripX2(band[i][0])+i
flash doesn't allow strings in movieClip variables.The code I'm using is belowm, it's the second to last line thats causing the problem:
var loadListener:Object = new Object(); loadListener.onLoadComplete = function(target_mc:MovieClip):Void { trace(">> target_mc._width: "+target_mc._width);[code]......
i'm creating a completely dynamic form. i want to assign a variable name to a textfield and then pass that variable with a LoadVars() object.
here's a small piece of code i can't get working:
//create movieclip (used like a form) _root.createEmptyMovieClip( 'dialog_body', 0 ); //create textfield input
[Code].....
bottomline: if i create a textfield using the traditional method and assign the 'var' it works fine. if i create a textfield dynamically at run time, and use the *.variable property, the variable is NOT sent..
I need to create the attached jpg, but i'm not sure of the best way to tackle it. The news posts are loaded from XML and will vary in height so they need to somehow be sorted so that if one is going to come off the page, then it's put into the next page - where the user will click the scroll buttons to view.
1/ Load article from XML
2/ Create a postMC_0 and add article bits to it (date, title, body)
3/ Record height
4/ Create a newsColumn_0 and add postMC_0 to it
Then a loop:
5/ Load next article
6/ Create a postMC_1 and add article bits to it
7/ If difference between postMC_0 height and newsColumn_0 height is greater than the height of postMC_1, then add postMC_1 to newsColumn_0.
8/ If not, then create newsColumn_1 and add postMC_1 to it.
9/ Loop back to 5 (increasing the numbers each time, so postMC_2, etc) Then just make the scroll buttons function according to how many columns have been created..
I'm dynamically creating movieclips with dynamically created movieclips inside them and am having trouble with targeting them.Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to achieve, in the real file there are a lot more movieclips and I'm creating and naming them with a for loop.
This one is just one Sprite created inside another sprite. I can target the top level sprite named "testname". However when i try target the nested MC it throws an error.The bottom couple of traces are just test MCs I've made to make sure i got the syntax right, on targeting nested movieclips.
PHP Code:
var holder:Sprite = new test1();holder.name = "testname";this.addChild(holder);var holder2:Sprite = new test2();holder2.name = "testname2";holder.addChild(holder2);trace(getChildByName("testname").x); //this one traces finetrace(getChildByName("testname").getChildByName("testname2").x);//this throws up an errortrace(testclip1.x);trace(testclip1.testclip2.x);
trying to loop out some pictures using a for loop and cant get them to be posiotioned directly beneath the previous picture, I have set the height number in my xml where I get the pictures from.[code]This is how the code should look like if you are trying to place pictures directly beneath the previously added picture using a class with parameters, in this case the "LoadExternaly" is that class.
Essentially, I've got a MC container that's created dynamically based off an XML file (basically for every <title></title> I've got, it makes a new "card"). Now within the context of each <title></title> grouping I've got <imgs></imgs> in which I specify the path to images that are related.All of that works perfectly, save for the external jpg files actually appearing on the stage. The MC I add them to does, but the external image doesn't.My problem is- I can't add the external images until they're completely loaded (or so it appears). The thumbnail BG I use is blank. So I know for a fact that the thumbnail BG isn't occluding the loaded thumbnails.
I'm trying to make a minigame in Flash about a mosquito getting smashed and I want the mosquito sound to pan as if it was in front of the player (so if the mosquito is at the right of the screen pan would be 1, and -1 in the left).Problem is, I can only use the sound transform in the play method, which leaves me with many sounds playing if I want to update the position of the mosquito (which happens on enterframe, 24fps).
I'm loading a XML to Dynamic Text field and all is OK, but the SWF is show at left out site of the flash document, I only want put a icon and a text in the same line, something like this: <body><img align="left" src="icon.swf" width="15"><mess>You have 4 new messages</mess></body> I try with many kinds of tags, CSS and attributes and nothing.
I am using actionscript to place every thing on the flash dynamically. However, when I was finished I noticed a tiny little bug that I just can't fix. Whenever the stage.height is an even number one of the objects is misaligned by half a pixel. When ever the stage.height is odd it is perfect. See images below for what I mean. Here is the related actionscript (called upon load and resize):
I need to create a horizontal menu with adding textfields with different widths dynamically on x axis. I have been doing this manually arranging the textfields on stage and get the x co-ordinate. I would really like to be able to do this with scripts, so in the future if I need to add/delete/change the numbers and positions, I can do it easily by just changing the scripts, But my maths knowledge is limited.
When an instance variable is constructed by a constructor method, why do you need to refer to the current instance variable being created when its the only one being created? I understand assigning an expression to it but why name it "this." when it is the only object that the constructor is building? Does it have some hing to do with being able to naming that object in the Local Variable? In other words am I creating a generic object that will be named in another class?
I have a Flex chart and on the x-axis want to be able to have different intervals set so I can draw gridlines.For example the axis may be from 0 to 82 and I would want to have an interval at 6,8, 21, 29, 40, 49, 52, 59 and 70.
I am trying to construct coordinates with distance in meters on the x-axis and time in seconds on the y-axis, without using the timeline. How can I draw the divisions on the x-axis and y-axis ? Or I better draw the whole thing.
var my_shape:Shape = new Shape();addChild(my_shape); my_shape.graphics.lineStyle(3, 0xFF0000, 1);my_shape.graphics.moveTo(50,50);my_shape.graphics.lineTo(50, 300);my_shape.graphics.lineTo(500, 300);
I've followed the tutorial on here on how load text from an XML file into a dynamic text box. I'd like to also automatically adjust the height of my text box based on the imported XML text
function loadXML(loaded) { if (loaded) { _root.header = this.firstChild.childNodes[2].childNodes[0].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue; _root.content1 = this.firstChild.childNodes[2].childNodes[0].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue; header.text = _root.header;
