ActionScript 3.0 :: Unable To Input Colon In Textfield?

We got a call today from a customer saying she was unable to input colon ":" in a textfield, instead it would turn into a ">". My first thought, since she's on a PC, was that she probably had switched her keyboard layout from swedish to english which would indeed make the colon turn into a "greater than". But after some investigation this happened on every pc I tested this on, and outside flash the inputs were correct. I am able to copy-paste a colon into the textfield.I also tried this on a pc with Windows 7 with a strange outcome. The first input became a ">", but after that the colons appeared correctly. After reloading the flash it worked from the first input.

I am having troubles migrating from as2 to as3.
The code:
var v1:Number;v1 = parseFloat(valor1.text);total.text= v1;
v1 declared as number. v1 only receives the "float value" of the input text field valor1. The dynamic text field (total) shows the v1 value.My problem is that this works on as2, on as3 i get error :1067 implicit coercion of a value type number etc.

However the title of this thread says "CS5", I think this problem is AS3 related.. I was making a site in CS5, and now I switched to CS5. The only problem are the input textfields. When I run the .swf, I cannot input any numeric values to the text field anymore, except for the "1".. How can this be?! When I open the site in CS3, I still CAN input other numeric values.

I just spent three hours on trying to understand basic positioning of TextFields and SimpleButtons...
I have a movieclip with a dynamic TextField and a SimpleButton inside. The TextField is NOT inside the SimpleButton (because then I can't change the text dynamically).
I want the TextField centered in the SimpleButton but when I set the Textfield.x it is displayed somewhere completely different than when I set the SimpleButton.x to the same value. Regardless of if I do i programmatically or not.

I'm trying to retrieve an input value from a dynamically created input text fields ("qtyWant_txt"). I want to play that value back into an array ("QtyWant"), which is tied to a form. When the form is submitted, it'll grab the value in the array. My problem is that I'm unable to retrieve the value in the input field prior to passing it to the array.

That's O.K. But I can't put a text in them... when I write

I have some problems using dynamic textfields, spent hours to get it fixed but nothing works. Here's the problem. I've created dynamic textfields where visitors can enter their data, like name, address, comment and so on. My website appears on fullscreen when the web address' typed in. When it's in this fullscreenmode, I'm not able to type in any data in this textfield. When I leave the fullscreenmode I am able to type in my data. Also I've created a dynamic textfield, which loads this sent data from an external database. Now I want to add a scrollbar to this textfield, so all the messages that doesn't fit in the field will be visible. I've tried to create my own, without success, even the simple one in the componentspanel doesn't work.

I try to get input from a textfield of type INPUT and save its numerical value on a couple of variables, but when i enter for example 1 or any digit i get Nan in the trace debug, after i put another digit i get the first after i put another one i get the first two and so on so forth. What i am doing wrong? Here some snippets from my code.

I want the form with its mc to make the main movie stop from playing while peaple are filling up the form.... I tried using 2 methods both with no luck....1st method : I've put the rollover action on the whole mc - but then I can't select the textfiled to actully fill them up...2nd method: I've put the rollover action on every little bit of the mc ( input textfileds, send button, background) - but then when I move from one textfiled to another it sometimes plays the movie again - althogh I didn't leave the mc area yet....here is the code sample:

The default value text displays, but when you click into them to type nothing appears.I've tried embedding fonts, making sure I use th Font class, even setting them to _sans and system font, but nothing. Totally at my ropes end before I wind up re-writing most of this thing.These really should be TextInputs, I know, but this is some other f*cker's crap work I'm cleaning up and I don't feel like refactoring the rest of his garbage.

I'm having a weird problem with AS3/CS5: I have a textfield, and I'm playing around with focusing on it at various points. At one point,I set focus to the textfield (which only accepts 1 character), then add an Event.CHANGE listener to it. This works fine, except when I type the letter 'a' (or 'A'). Nothing happens until I click on the text field and type 'a.' I don't have to do the second click with any other character, and before I do the second click, the cursor is blinking in the box. Not sure what to do...

first off I guess I should say that I'm pretty much a beginner to flash Anyways, what I'm trying to do is make it so when the user inputs something into the textfield, depending on what they said specifically, it takes them to a certain scene. So far I am able to communicate with just text between a few people, but they are not able to perform other actions such as the movement of their mouth when they are speaking which is what I would like also. I've included an attachment of what I have so far (it was given to me by a member at the official macromedia flash forums),

I'm trying to refer to the text in an input text field. The name of the fields are attr1, attr2, attr3...... This works fine when I type;

In order not to type the name of all the fields, I want to do it in a loop, and put the results into an array;

All is working well, but I want to keep the user's entered Celsius number constant in the input box and not disappear; that way they can't forget the original number they entered to get the conversion.

when I parse my input-textfield and setTextFormat, everything works fine, but when I write something between the newly formatted part of the the, suddenly the formatting spreads over the whole texfield.
Is there any way (besides .htmlText="") to get rid of text formatting-tags. (maybe something simpler than a html-parser or so?)
