ActionScript 3.0 :: Input-textfield With Dynamic SetTextFormat?
Oct 29, 2008
when I parse my input-textfield and setTextFormat, everything works fine, but when I write something between the newly formatted part of the the, suddenly the formatting spreads over the whole texfield.
Is there any way (besides .htmlText="") to get rid of text formatting-tags. (maybe something simpler than a html-parser or so?)
Have an Input textfield and write e.g. 123 in it (This is on frame 1).Then later in frame 3 I want that number to be shown in a Dynamic textfield.How do I do that?
I am trying to get setTextFormat working, but I can't seem to get it to work. The textfield appears and has the text I want, however, the font is just not changing.Here is my code:
package { import flash.display.MovieClip;import flash.text.TextField;import flash.text.TextFormat; public class Photograph extends MovieClip {
I have a TLFTextfield, which I've applied a TextFormat to, using a start and end index so it only applies to a range of text.Something similar to this:
var textfield:TLFTextField = new TLFTextField(); textfield.text = "Some Text"; textfield.textColor = 0x0000FF;
I am loading some XML into a dynamic text field Actionscript Code: texts_mc.desc_txt.text = xmlList[0].desc; I need to limit its length to 75 characters which is about half the length of the last line of text. Is there a way to do that? I have been looking in the docs and tried stuff with String.substr but I could not get it to work at all.
I have some dynamic text boxes loading text from an array. I initially have the text box aligned "right" but when you put dynamic text it "left" aligns them. Anyway, here is my code:
Code: var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); format.align = "right";
i am trying to apply setTextFormat function for my dynamic text filed in as 3, but its not taking. look at my code and suggest me where i am going wrong.
I am going nuts here. I've searched exhaustively, and cannot seem to find anyone else experiencing my issue, so it must be something elementary I am not grasping. I'm creating TextFields dynamically, for use as input boxes:
Code: function makeText(whatParent, whatText, whatFormat, input){ var thisTextField:TextField = new TextField();
What I have is a dynamicly created row of movieClips. In which TextFields are added with text that's received from an Array. What I would like to be able to do is click on the movieClip that's visible and have the code understand I clicked array[3] for example and it will show the 4th array item in another textfield.
I have an issue with font scaling of a dynamic text box.
Currently i have one input box named input_1 with a variable attached to it named "choc_1".
Also, i have a dynamic text box named dynamic_1 with variable "choc_1".
When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.
auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.
The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.
here's a code that i'm trying to fix but i can't get the dynamic box to change:
I'm trying to input a dynamic text field into many dynamic movies. I use a for loop to successfully create 18 movies. I can't seem to get the text to be input dynamically however. The dynamic text field in the dynamic movies is named eventText. This code in the for loop successfully creates 18 movies:
I try to get input from a textfield of type INPUT and save its numerical value on a couple of variables, but when i enter for example 1 or any digit i get Nan in the trace debug, after i put another digit i get the first after i put another one i get the first two and so on so forth. What i am doing wrong? Here some snippets from my code.
xSpeedField.addEventListener(TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT, inputXCapture); private function initField(field:TextField, label:String, x:uint, y:uint):void { var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
I want the form with its mc to make the main movie stop from playing while peaple are filling up the form.... I tried using 2 methods both with no luck....1st method : I've put the rollover action on the whole mc - but then I can't select the textfiled to actully fill them up...2nd method: I've put the rollover action on every little bit of the mc ( input textfileds, send button, background) - but then when I move from one textfiled to another it sometimes plays the movie again - althogh I didn't leave the mc area yet....here is the code sample:

I've googled a lot, but i can't find a solution to auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.

here's a code that i'm trying to fix but i can't get the dynamic box to change:
I have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?
The default value text displays, but when you click into them to type nothing appears.I've tried embedding fonts, making sure I use th Font class, even setting them to _sans and system font, but nothing. Totally at my ropes end before I wind up re-writing most of this thing.These really should be TextInputs, I know, but this is some other f*cker's crap work I'm cleaning up and I don't feel like refactoring the rest of his garbage.
I'm having a weird problem with AS3/CS5: I have a textfield, and I'm playing around with focusing on it at various points. At one point,I set focus to the textfield (which only accepts 1 character), then add an Event.CHANGE listener to it. This works fine, except when I type the letter 'a' (or 'A'). Nothing happens until I click on the text field and type 'a.' I don't have to do the second click with any other character, and before I do the second click, the cursor is blinking in the box. Not sure what to do...
What I'm trying to do is pretty simple, I'm just getting lost in the syntax of it..I have a piece of code that loads a textfield to the stage and sets it to "Testing Adding Text To Stage Dynamically"on the stage I have a text input box named t1input And a button next_btn
What I am wanting to happen is to have the text automatically load into the text field that is set in the code ("Testing Adding Text To Stage Dynamically") And then have it where the user can type into the text box, press the "next" button and then the text in the text field is changed to be whatever the user has typed in the text box.[code]...
I have a wierd problem with input textfield losing its formatting.The format of the textfield (font, size, align..) is defined inside the .fla.When first added to stage, the textfield has these properties:
first off I guess I should say that I'm pretty much a beginner to flash Anyways, what I'm trying to do is make it so when the user inputs something into the textfield, depending on what they said specifically, it takes them to a certain scene. So far I am able to communicate with just text between a few people, but they are not able to perform other actions such as the movement of their mouth when they are speaking which is what I would like also. I've included an attachment of what I have so far (it was given to me by a member at the official macromedia flash forums),
okay here I just pick up tje code from this forum ..somewhere i forgot..ok it's work great...the problem is I try using button to create the draggable textfield it's appear but can't be drag anymore..so what's wrong with the code..and one more thing..what I want is that I can create many textfield just by pressing the btn..is it possibile...in different coordinate..this is the code
Code: function createtxt(){ this.createEmptyMovieClip('but_mc', 2);
I have created an array of TextFields to create something close to an editable grid. Have applied some formatting (font size, etc.) on each of these TextFields. But when I test my movie and add something in one of these boxes, the text does not appear with formatting
I'm trying to refer to the text in an input text field. The name of the fields are attr1, attr2, attr3...... This works fine when I type; my_mc.var1.text, my_mc.var2.text......
In order not to type the name of all the fields, I want to do it in a loop, and put the results into an array; [AS] for(i; i<(number_of_attr+1); i++) { var nr = new LoadVars(); var attr_nr = new LoadVars(); var suggestion = new LoadVars(); attr_nr = i.toString(); [Code] ..... It only works when I type attr1, attr2 .....
first off I guess I should say that I'm pretty much a beginner to flash so if you could explain this in ways that are not too complicated Anyways, what I'm trying to do is make it so when the user inputs something into the textfield, depending on what they said specifically, it takes them to a certain scene. So far I am able to communicate with just text between a few people, but they are not able to perform other actions such as the movement of their mouth when they are speaking which is what I would like also. I want to style input text, so i created a stylesheet.I made a input textfield, loaded the external stylesheet, defined the textfields stylesheet, and boom it works.Except, i cant type anything into the text field.
