View 1 RepliesI have some text that says go to page with a input textfield box and a go button. This is a flash cs4 file.I want to have the user input the page number and have it go to that frame.I am using actionscript 3.0 and have bought 4 books and researched online and still can't find what I am looking for.I can make the go button go to whatever page I want I just don't know how to get the information the user put in the box.

View 3 RepliesI'd like to set up my splash page (all Flash) so that the login form is ready and waiting for input, without the user having to move the pointer to the first input text field and then click it.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a user input textfield which automatically applies the defined format on it. The only problem is: actionscript 3 seems to ignore the format and stubbornly applies the default text format. How can I apply the desired format on user typed text? Here's my code so far. As you can see, for experimental reasons I tried to apply the size "60" on the text, but if you execute the script, the size of the text remains unchanged:
PHP Code:
import flash.text.Font;
import flash.text.TextFormat;
import flash.text.TextField;
var theTextField:TextField = new TextField();
var txtFmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
[Code] .....
I have the following function
ActionScript Code:
IncludeInfoItems = function (bool) {
if (!bool) {
proof_txt._visible = true;
} else {
proof_txt._visible = false;
}};
This dynamically on/off the description. I have one text field where user enter the values, If this value is =>1501 then i want to display it true. I am trying like this and getting error.
ActionScript Code:
IncludeInfoItems = function (bool) {
if (!bool) {
if (check_amount_mc.text ==> 501) {
proof_txt._visible = true;
}} else {
proof_txt._visible = false;
}};
is it possible to trap when a user clicks in an input textfield in flash i want to put up a message before the user starts to type had a good look, but can't find anything that allows me to run a function when the user clicks in a textfield.
View 1 RepliesI have a dynamic textfield which receive the text the user input. And I want to make it like no matter how many words the user type, it always have the same area of the box, say if the user type hello, the texfield box is
------------
- -

------------
this large and if the user type hello, the world, the textfield change to
------------------------
- -
------------------------
the font seems smaller than the former one, but the total area remains the same. How should I make the coding so that it can have this kind of effect.

View 5 RepliesI have a textfield that is filled by a querystring.
example: http://www.domainname.com?dName=Michael+&+Mary+Heatherbaum
myTextfield.text=myQueryStrings.dName.toUpperCase();
If the persons name is only 3 letters I want the font size to be 120 but based on the amount of characters, I would like to shrink the font size in order to fit the whole name inside the text field. I was playing with autosize, but couldn't get it to work.
making a textfield font size auto adjust accordingly?
is there a way to limit the user from entering more than lets say 4 lines in an input textfield?

View 5 Repliesthe last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:
Code:
//
function saveRecord(record:String, field:String, now:Object, score:Object):Void {

I am going nuts here. I've searched exhaustively, and cannot seem to find anyone else experiencing my issue, so it must be something elementary I am not grasping. I'm creating TextFields dynamically, for use as input boxes:
Code:
function makeText(whatParent, whatText, whatFormat, input){
var thisTextField:TextField = new TextField();

is it possible in actionscript for the user to type in a box from a keyboard like a user input text box..
View 3 Repliesdoes anyone know how to make the initial text in an input text box disappear once your cursor changes from the arrow to the type cursor? For example, I have an input text box which has the text visible saying "enter your email address here" I want this text to disappear automatically when the user goes to type something there...
View 3 RepliesSay you have a form setup with one input text field and one submit button. Is there a way to have the cursor automatically be present in the input field when MC is loaded so that the user doesnt have to click in input field to begin typing.
View 3 RepliesHave an Input textfield and write e.g. 123 in it (This is on frame 1).Then later in frame 3 I want that number to be shown in a Dynamic textfield.How do I do that?
View 0 RepliesWhen I Selection.setFocus(someTextField); the cursor doesn't start blinking in the text field. I've tried it in the flash IDE as well as in a HTML page, I can't seem to get the cursor to start blinking automatically in an input TextField.
I even did an onEnterFrame script to make sure the TextField was loaded and ready before I did the selection. I've also used Selection.setSelection(0,0) , etc. It just never shows up.
If I click the input TextField the cursor shows up as normal though. I just want it to automatically appear as this is a form and I want it to be clear to the user which textfield is currently selected when I change focus.
This is for a touchscreen project with an on-screen keyboard so the user has no mouse.
Even if the user types some letters and sees them appear in the input box properly the cursor STILL doesn't appear. Only when I click the input does the cursor appear.
I would like to know is that possible to change Input textfiled cursor in Flash.
For e.g I have DOS screen in Flash and hence I want to show input textfiled cursor as like Dos screen cursor to user for his entry.
Is it possible to hide the blinking cursor in an input field?
View 3 RepliesI have input text that I want the user to be able to type in, but it's a game, so I don't want them to see the blinking cursor. I could make an input off screen and have it send the text into a dynamic text field, but I was wonder if perhaps there was just an easier way of hiding the blinking cursor?
View 4 RepliesI have a multiline input text box which a user can type stuff into, then click a button which will save what they typed and load another lot of text (all using XML). What I would like is to set the flashing cursor to the end of this box when it is updated. I've tried a few things:
Code:
Selection.setFocus(_parent.journalentry);
Selection.setSelection(0, 0);
_parent.journalentry.text = (c.firstChild ? c.firstChild.nodeValue : '');

Is there some way that I can disable the little cursor that comes when moving over an input field?
View 2 RepliesI have some problem with textField with embedded fonts.I'm using font symbols created in library and they work very well with dynamic textfields.If I make an input textfield with these embedded fonts the following problem occurs:if i set the textfield's initial value (.text) to anything not equal to "" everything works fine. I can change the text in it.but if I set the input textfield's .text initially to an empty string, I can't get the cursor in the textfield, as it can't receive the focus.If I turn the texfield's embeddedfonts to false, everything works fine, but this way I can't use custom fonts and fields are looking awful. I would like to use my custom fonts in the input textfields too...
View 3 RepliesI'm in and out of AS2 and it's been awhile.if this is possible to reliably create this state for an Input text field.Ideally the text area has some text in it as a prompt tot he user, and the cursor is blinking at the end of the prompt text. When the user clicks on the box, it resets to empty content and the user can type their question.I have the text area set up with prompt text, instance name. Tried this code and it does not work:[code]Right now when i click on it, the text prompt text remains and the cursor shows one line below the prompt text.
View 5 RepliesI want to initialize a Flash asset to have a flashing cursor in an empty input field. I tried each of the following two ways with no luck:
1. Selection.setFocus("input_txt");
2. Selection.setFocus(input_txt);
I tried these alone in an empty fla with only the input textfield input_txt on the stage.
The other threads on this exact problem are several years old. Has something changed in for CS3 that it doesn't work.
If I put text in the field, it will be highlighted but that is not what I need. Just a flashing cursor.
How to detect (in AS3) whether cursor is no longer inside Input Text Field?
I've been trying Mouse events, Focus events, Text events but with no success.
