Jun 16, 2011I'm in and out of AS2 and it's been awhile.if this is possible to reliably create this state for an Input text field.Ideally the text area has some text in it as a prompt tot he user, and the cursor is blinking at the end of the prompt text. When the user clicks on the box, it resets to empty content and the user can type their question.I have the text area set up with prompt text, instance name. Tried this code and it does not work:[code]Right now when i click on it, the text prompt text remains and the cursor shows one line below the prompt text.

I could make an input off screen and have it send the text into a dynamic text field, but I was wonder if perhaps there was just an easier way of hiding the blinking cursor?

It successfully gives the TextField "txt" focus because when I type, the characters appear in the input textfield, however the familiar blinking text cursor/beam does not appear in the textfield. This makes you think it does not have focus, so you click the textfield to give it focus -- completely defeating the purpose.

Sep 10, 2010I have a web page which has a SWF file embeded. I have an issue with the focus.
Steps to reproduce:
1)Click on a HTML Text Field which is inside a Iframe
2)Click on a Flex Field.
3)Begin to type some text.
Expected Result is the entered text should go in the Flex TextInput field but the actual Result is it goes into HTML text field.
This is the bug which was filed but closed without any resolution. The workaround suggested there doesnt work. ( bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-12377 )
This is happening only in IE 6.0 and IE 7.0. Below is the live example. [URL]

Feb 24, 2009On my stage I have an MC with a textfield of type input. I have another MC on stage with the control for the input like bold, and italic. When my textfield has focus and I click on one of the control MC buttons it loses focus. I know I can reset focus with stage.focus but wanted to know if there is a better way. Like disable the control MC from taking the focus off the input text. I thought this was not the behavior. I thought that only another input type control can steal focus until now.

There are a total of 6 input text boxes.I would like to direct the user to a particular input text and then have them be able to use the tab key or the enter key or mouse clicks to proceed.As the first step I added the stage.focus = inputStarName1. Feb 17, 2009I had written movie player for my website few months ago and I'm upgrading it by adding some new functionality from time to time. Not long ago I've observed quite curious behavior of my browser. If my site is opened in one of tabs in browser, the cursor is blinking, from arrow to handcursor, when I'm rolling over links. Interesting is that it happens in every tab opened in browser, if only one of them contains my website. Closing my site returns every other tab to normality. I tried opening my site with blocked this one .swf file (my player) and also was everything ok. I've tested this on few different browsers and systems and it seems to happen in MacOS (tested in Safari, FF2, FF3 and Opera) Windows (in FF2, FF3, Safari, Opera IE6, IE7 and Chrome), no matter if installed version of FlashPlayer is 9 or 10. On Ubuntu Linux it doesn't happen in FF3, nor in Opera (only this two browsers tested).
I've built my player in Flash CS3, using AS2. Unfortunately, I don't know in which version of my application the problem has occurred. Of course I could examine whole code line by line, but that's about 2.5k lines and it is not the work I want to do if not necessary... I've searched lot of forums, but I found solution nowhere. Maybe someone had spotted such a strange browser behavior or simply does know, what may cause it?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Move Blinking Cursor Too?
Aug 15, 2009I've got a main textfield myTextfield01. When I put focus on another textfield which is empty (either manually by clicking on another field, or like below using setFocus) I want the focus to go back to myTextField01 again. And put the blinking cursor and the very end of whatever is typed into it. So I tried this.

But that didn't work. It went back to myTextfield01, but the blinking cursor stayed at the empty textfield and any text typed would be added to that empty field.When I put this in frame one:

And this in frame two:

it did work. Both focus and cursor where in myTextfield01 again.So why doesn't it work when I combine it all in one frame?
Flash :: TextArea Has Blinking Cursor?
Jun 16, 2009Is there a way to tell if a Flex TextArea has a blinking cursor? One indication is if the component is focused: focusManager.getFocus() == textArea
But it's possible to have a blinking cursor without having the focus. I'm not sure if the converse is possible (focus without blinking cursor).
Edit: The rub here appears to be a distinction between "component-level" focus and "player-level" focus (per the FocusManager docs). I haven't yet found any great explanation of the latter or APIs to it.

Feb 20, 2009i've a problem with my setFocus. i will use [n] to identfy the line in the code. this is a MouseEvent.CLICK - function from an other dynamic,non-selectable textfield. the textfield in work is one with an embeded font and some text in it.if i use line [3], i'll get the no blinking courser and no possibility to enter some words. also if i mark some other and click after that in the input-textfield directly there will no courser anymore.but this only happens in the first time using the swf. if i first click into the input-textfield, then set the focus to something else and trying the steps i wrote over here, everything works fine.

Jul 24, 2011I have a numerical stepper,and a user can click on a textfield, then click the up and down arrows on the stepper to change the font size,i then try and set the focus back to the textfield and put the caret at the end of the textfield, but the stepper keeps focus anyway.Here is the event handler for when the stepper value is changed.Get the textfield's current format, change the size, set the new format, then focus on the textfield and set the caret position, but the caret just stays inside the stepper.

I've had problems with other components too with the exact same focus issue and the only solution i've ever come up with is to set a timeout for like 100 milliseconds to set the focus back then and it works. another way to do this without the "hack"?
