View 1 RepliesI recently developed an Adobe AIR App, for uploading images to a Facebook User's Album,which worked well! But now, as I tryed to migrate the AIR App to an Flash App, which is supposed to do exactly the same, I am experiencing one problem:
Actually everything works fine: The App Initialization, The User Login & Permission (establishing a session), BUT: Once i make the call for uploading a BitmapData, I do NEVER get ANY response / the handler does never get called:
var values:Object = { message:'This photo was created by ProFileIzer', fileName:'filename', image:new BitmapData(50,50, false, 0xFF0000) }; Facebook.api('/me/photos', handleUploadCompleted, values, 'POST');
There is also a Flex sample provided, which I am not able to test, as I am using Flash. So if someone smart got any idea, or probably could test if the sample works..[URL]...
I'm trying to upload a photo on Facebook using Javascript SDK. In particular I generate a base64 encoded bytearray from my Actionscript3 app, I pass it to Javascript file using ExternalInterface, and from that I decode the bytearray and I try to upload to FB. But it give me this error:
{"error":{"message":"(#324) Requires upload file","type":"OAuthException","code":324}}
I tried to upload an image simply from url, and in that way it goes well! This is my Javascript code:
upPhoto:function(photo) {
var img = F.decode_base64(photo);
FB.api('/me/photos', 'post', {
message:'test',
fileName:'test',

I need to create an image upload app for our company's facebook page. I've been able to successfully create the app on facebook and it pulls from a location on our web server. Right now it's just an index.cfm file with hello world in it.We're having a photo contest and what we need to do is provide a quick form (name, email, phone, photo to upload, and photo description).When a user fills out the form and uploads the image, the image shows on our app with the description and then we are notified that someone has uploaded and image.
View 1 RepliesAnyone know what tool does facebook use for uploading multiple photos? It is so neat!
It look like they are using flash uploader? If so, which one out there has similar to that?
I'm looking for the simplest way to upload a photo from a gallery on my server (i.e. I have the url to the jpg) to Facebook. The project is built in as2, and for hte life of me I can not find a solution.
I was thinking I could use a php script to upload it to facebook, but all the examples I find online are broken or too old. I could post the url to the php script and then the php could handle the rest.
EDIT: Reworked my code a bit and decided to throw out URLLoader in favor of the ile.upload() method.Now I'm stuck again >_<Here's the code I currently have, stripped down to bare-bones:When I drag-drop image files onto my app, here is the trace log that gets returned to me:
[object Document] called.
doDragEnter() called.
doDragDrop() called.

I'm using CURL to upload files to a service. Currently I'm getting the file content with $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"] then save it on my server. After that, I'm using CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS with the file's full path. Is there a way to send the file content directly, without saving it on my server, as if I saved it? Or is there a way to upload a Photo from a flash app to facebook album, without saving it on the server?
View 1 RepliesDo sites like facebook resize images before upload to save bandwidth?... or do they just get resized remotely, beause when i try and do it using gd library i have the problem that images wiht large dimenions timeout, whatever memeroy limit i set..
View 4 RepliesI succeed to get a snapshot from the webcam as a jpeg (via BitmapArray) and now I want to upload it directly to twitpic or flickr
View 1 RepliesI was just wondering that is there a way to create a multiple file select like Facebook (using flash, I think.) and with a progress bar that show every photos progress in one progress bar. Have a clue or a script which can be customized and can be used easily?
View 2 RepliesI am getting a mysterious result when trying to load profile images from a logged in Facebook user's friends list into an as3 canvas app. In pretty much every (non-facebook) application I've made where loading an image is required I use the following:
private function loadPic():void
{
var url:String = Facebook.getImageUrl(_friendslistObjectArray[_loadCount].id);
_picLoader = new Loader();[code]............
I can't retrieve the image from the event object,and I am given no error at all.It all just fails silently.If I remove the line var image = evt.target.content, the process runs through the whole array.I can't think of any reason this would occur. Furthermore, if I look in firebug's net activity, I see I see the images get loaded as long as I do not have the line I just mentioned included. I just can't seem to get the image data from the event object to add it to stage or a container movieclip.
I'm currently building an application using the Adobe Facebook API and I've run into an issue where for the login method the Facebook login popup displays but when doing a Facebook share/post the popup is blocked.
This code works fine and displays me a Facebook login popup without question (Firefox):
var permissions:Array = ['publish_stream'];
Facebook.login( onFacebookLogin, { perms:permissions.join(',') } );
However, the following code running in the same application throws up a popup blocker (again Firefox):
Facebook.ui( "stream.publish", "popup", params );
Does anyone know of a work around this issue to make the share popup come up just like the login popup?
Just wondering if anyone knows about the project I am trying to start, uploading images from flash using php is fine but wondering if anyone knows how to create dynamic xml from php and it takes all the image names from the same folder where those images have been uploaded. So we can load all the images in image gallery through xml into flash.
View 5 RepliesAs far as I know, what I ask here isn't possible, but I thought I'd ask anyway in case I'm missing something.
Suppose you want to let users upload JPG images, and these images are scaled into smaller icons and the original images are always discarded and never required again. Is there any way that would commonly work in most modern browsers that would let the user select a single image on their hard drive, have that LOCALLY turned into a thumbnail and upload the created thumbnail to a server?
In a case where the server just needs a small image, it would be wasteful both in user time and server resources to proceed uploading the whole image, only to immediately discard it. It would be much better to just scale it on the client.
I can imagine three options. Just plain HTML/Javascript, using Flash or using Java. If this were possible with Flash, that would seem like the best option. But reading flash.net.FileReference documentation, it seems that you can upload a file from the HD yes, but you cannot look inside the file you are uploading. On the other hand, if you enable "can access local files" in Flash publishing options, it seems that you can then no longer access the net, so that doesn't work.
With HTML/Javascript, it is possible to load images and display them on a <canvas>, but if you try to access the pixels of these images, you get security violations, so that doesn't seem to work.
Java I hesitate to use, because only 96.52% of my users have it installed, and the file upload dialogs I have seen implemented in Java (at Facebook for example) have not worked well (unresponsive interface). I wonder though if Java is the only thing allowing resizing images from local HD?
I'm using Agile Uploader in my project to resize image before upload on client side.And it works fine except one thing: if image name contains cyrillic letters it fails with server error 500.
How to avoid this or if needed how to rename file with english letters "on fly" (possibly with javascript).
I am creating one desktop application of facebook.
So here I am getting streams from facebook post. So when any facebook application's long image link I am getting that I can't display in Image container, this is not displaying image.
One also fact is that, When I am giving this link directly then it is working.....
When I have seen this in Charlse Debugging proxy then it is displaying 403,Forbidden error of image.
Posting Image to Facebook with Flash?
View 1 Replieshow I can share an image on facebook using AS3.... eg using BitmapData or something similar...
View 5 RepliesI am developing an Flash application, that is going to interact with a facebook application. It is supposed to get text and image from the facebook application and merge in an swf for the facebook Surfers. I wanted to ask what is best way to accomplish this?
1. Ask for the FaceBook app to save the Image and text in an SQL DB, for a webservice to pick?
2. Drop it in the root of application and pick it with a web service?
3. Send directly to the webservice?
I'm trying to load profile images (friend images) from Facebook with AS3 but I seem to be running into a security issue.I'm currently using the "official" Adobe Facebook API for Actionscript 3 which works fine. However, I seem to be having trouble loading profile images when running my application in a browser. The images load fine when running in the Flash IDE.The images are being loaded from URL... and there seems to be a crossdomain.xml policy on that domain:[code]
I just noticed that when I visit one of the images in a browser that I'm actually redirected to Facebook's CDN where the actual image is stored. When I hard-code the image url with the redirected URL I can load the image in the browser. It seems that this is not a security issue after all but a redirection issue.If this is a redirection issue then the question would become; How can I have Flash Player load an image from a redirected URL?It seems that the URLRequest class has a followRedirects property which is only available in AIR.I'm currently using a PHP script to get me the redirected URL as a work around but this of course is far from ideal and potentially a big strain on my server.
using the latest facebook actionscript library, I upload an image using: Facebook.api('me/photos', etc...) it returns an ID, which method would I call to get the url of the uploaded image?
View 1 RepliesI want to make a simple .swf file with an image. The source of the image is not fixed but dynamic. It should be a user's profile pic on facebook [URL]. I can get the user facebook id's dynamically with a php file that generates XML. How do I make the .swf extract the image source from the xml?
View 1 RepliesI've developed a Flash quiz app for facebook, which calls for a php script silently upon completion. The php script's function is to generate an image from the POST data sent by the flash, and then post it to the user's wall.That would be all neat and dandy, but for some reason the image never gets uploaded, probably because when i call it, it's like [URL] and the facebook SDK script inside gets an Oauth error, probably because it is not embedded in their canvas.
If I'd like to have my php script generate an image and upload it to the fb wall, then how should I call it from the flash?This is the AS2 code I'm using currently:
callRemoteFile = function(ourVariable:Number) {
var result_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
result_lv.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
[code]....
If I simply navigate to the php with my browser it giver me this:
Fatal error: Uncaught OAuthException: Invalid OAuth access token signature. thrown in /home/a01223445/public_html/appfolder/base_facebook.php on line 1039
If I view the same php through facebook canvas it works perfectly. My problem is: The canvas will show the flash and I want the php to silently be evaluated while the flash is running.
I'm at that awkward point in Flash authoring where I know the basics, have tackled only a few of the intermediate issues, and have been assigned a task that seems a bit daunting. I did my fair share of googlin, and searching on these forums and haven't found what I'm looking for.I've created a simple drawing program in flash before, but what I need to add is the functionality to upload a user image and crop/resize it. Does anyone here have a link to an article that will explain a bit about flash's jpg manipulation abilities?

View 2 RepliesIs there a way to upload an image using flex inbuild .browse() and classic asp? So in flex the user picks the image they want to upload, press a button to start sending it. A asp handler then gets the file, uploads it to a folder and then writes the filename in a database. Writing of the filename in the database is no problem.
View 1 RepliesAny best way to upload the image file by using Flex 4 and PHP. I have searched online but most of them are using Flex 2 or older version. I am just curious if there are any new ways to do it. I just found a good one here... [URL]
