ActionScript 3.0 :: Way To Show Words Effect

I have a word,its content is follows:var txt:String="abcdefg";I want to show word from the first letter to the last letter,the word effect is one by one. For example,at the beginning I only show the first letter 'a',the 'a' size is big,such as 30,and then the letter 'a' size minish gradually to 20.Then show the second letter 'b',first,the letter 'b' size is big also,such as 30,and then the letter 'b' size minish gradually to 20,and the letter 'b' is behind the letter 'a',and so on with letter 'c'. When all letters show,the effect stops.

I'm dynamically loading a file that will indicate when to show certain words at certain frames. However, I'm having trouble with the concept of timeline control from ActionScript (I'm building everything programmatically in Flash Builder). Let's say my tuples has frame and word:
5, "duck"
13, "cow"
22, "pig"
There is a sprite associated with each. What I would like to do is something like the following:
for (frame in timeline) { //should iterate from frame 0-22 (last frame in list)
if (frame in list) {
list[frame].alpha = 0;
}}
I already know that my display of sprites works and whatnot, I'm just confused on how to play through the timeline in this kind of way, or if it's possible to dynamically do this. Related, can I control how fast the timeline plays? To give a more thorough explanation, I'm looking to visualize word appearances over time in a text. So "duck" may appear as the 5th word in a corpus, "cow" as the 13th word, etc. My list contains tuples of word positions (unique) and the word that appears at that position.
I have a small selection of words that I'm interested in from the corpus, so not every position is represented. I would like to be able to have a SWF movies that essentially starts at the beginning of the corpus, go through my word list in order of appearance in the corpus, and then display the word (and have it fade out). So, if there's a word at position 5 and 10, then should appear in much more rapid succession than if there's a word at position 15, and the next one doesn't appear until 50. Basically, I would like to keep that temporal component.

I have no understanding of even the most basic concepts, put it that way. Anyway, so I have 2 test boxes, one that is static and one that is dynamic. I made the dynamic one first, and on the same frame, I put the AS: var random:Number = 100; What I do know is that flash now recognizes that whatever dynamic text box with the variable label of "random" is a number. The output should also be a #, and when you test out the movie, a 100 should be in the dynamic text box that you just created, even though you don't see this on the stage before testing. So I tested it out, and sure enough, a "100" shows up. Next, I put another text box that is static, and I typed "test" in it. (Without quotes) The two text boxes should have no relation, but when I tested out the movie again, only the "test" static text box words show up, and the 100 in the previously created text box is gone. I've tried moving the text boxes to different places and changing variables and such, but nothing works, as far as I know.

Im using a prototype to create a lightbox effect in my flash to show images it work with this prototype:[code]This prototype works but as soon as i click a link from the quicknav and then try to press the link again it has dissappeared.Ive tried alot of things but ive not figured out how i can fix this..if you look into the included flash file and u press on the second button in the menu then press the link in the page for the image, and then press the 1st or 2nd link the menu left ull notice it doesnt link anymore.[code]

I am creating Drag and drop flash application. While dragging an instance of a movieclip I want also the dropable region to show effect like MouseOver case. So that end user can confirm that they are dropping the item in right region. Here the mouse is moved while it is kept clicked .

I really like the text effect Pom used in the footer contest, and would like to use the same grid-type method of creating mc letters but with a different effect. i understand how to change the parameters and shapes of the letters, but can't seem to figure out which piece of code is purely for the explosion effect. basically, i want the letters but with the 'Repel' effect from[URL] here is Pom's AS:

It's a bit of decoration to go behind a logo. When the dMove var is commented out I get the appropriate line of squares fading in and out at random spots along the x = 78 axis, but when introduced nothing appears at all...

In my asp.net application,I want to show the .ppt file using the slide show manner.
That's to say,user can upload .ppt file to my server side,then other people can browser these ppts in the page ..
Since I have googled "embed powerpoint in web page" ,it seems that there is not a good idea to implement this and support the cross browser,so I thought the flash.

in a nut shell I have found this wicked piece of open source actionscript.
It responds to the cursor and was wondering if it is posible to modify the x_position and y_position actions and make the action respond to a moving object???? (a movieclip with a variable name)
is this to complicated to attempt or is it doable??

I am trying to convert an entry using a numeric stepper in flex into words to display in a textarea.i.e a user uses the stepper to enter "89" as a value and in the text area the words "Eighty nine" are displayed.After much searching i haven't found anything that helps - a few javascript functions but that is all.

I have a button that inserts an mc named coin, and adds a number to the end. So if you hit it, it will make coin 1, then coin2, then coin3, ect. I wan't to have a hit test in an mc named character to check if it his any of the coin mc's.

I have a document class which is linked to an external class that defines the properties of a specific textfield. When the user submits the text in the textfield (whatever they typed into it) I would like the text to be broken up into the individual words and have those words placed into separate movie clips (the same instance of a movie clip, just each word placed into a different one). How can I do this? Here is the code I am using.

I have a sentence that's basically items from an array, and I have this line that when I type one of those words on it, that word is removed from that sentence/array. And I'm having trouble coming up with a function, I'm trying to make it an if statement.so far I tried: and I know I need to put splice in, but this is just to see if it works or not.

For a rather complex search function I need to get the first letter of each word entered into an input field. At first glance this may not seem like a big problem if every word is neatly seperated by a space.
Although people can enter whatever they want into the field I only want to work with the words that start with a-z or A-Z.
I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how I can determine if a character in the string falls into this selection. One of the possibilities is to use charCodeAt(), but that's rather rough. I can walk through the string using indexOf() but I may have trouble finding the next word if characters other than a space come into play.
