View 6 RepliesIn some cases, such as what my client wants - Flash 6 and Flash 7 players behave slightly differently... a very annoying thing at times.Now, what I need to be able to do is to detect what version of Flash Player the user has. This will be done while my flash application is playing and then run the appropriate part of the function I am writing.Any way to detect what version of Flash Player is running from within the Flash Player?

View 3 Repliesmy friend and I are trying to make a GUI for a CD that autoruns when you pop it in your computer. Now my friend can write the batch files to autorun the swf, but i guess what I'm actually asking is how to run programs or batch files from flash by clicking on a button. We tried just useing the getURL AS to link it but it doesn't run it (kinnda makes sense now...).
View 2 RepliesDoes anyone know how to get the width and height in ActionScript for a Flex application running inside the flash player in the web browser.
e.g. In the web browser I can use the tag to embed a Flex application (as a .swf). To the embed tag, I can provide the dimensions. I would like to get these dimensions inside the flex application action script.
I have a set of users who run my application in non debug mode. Off late they have been reporting lot of issues. But I am not able to debug as there is no log file.Is it possuible in flex 3 to do logging in a file without running in debug version. I understand trace only works if we run application in debug version.
View 1 RepliesI wrote a flex demo, customized spark TextInput skin with rounded corners and a search icon in it, like mac os x search box, it's running good in browsers (by Flash Player browser plug-in) either .html or .swf, but error by flash player directly.

Is there a setting in Windows XP or Internet Explorer which prevents swf files from playing? If so, where is it? (The Flash player is installed.)
View 2 RepliesI need to be able to indentify if my swf external app is Flash Player or HTML document. My script is something like this:
if (running on html)
link = "photo1.jpg?n="+rnd; // no cache
else
link = "photo1.jpg";
I have a Flash website that moves from page to page by jumping to various frames in the timeline. Clicking on a button causes a jump to a specific frame. It is necessary to have stops in several frames. I'm trying to run an mp3 player in the background. The player is running on it's own layer. It works when I launch the page and when I go from page to page until I hit a frame with a stop at which point, the player stops. How can I prevent this?
View 14 RepliesI have a simple flash game with two frames at the moment.Most of the stuff that happens is in as files linked to different movie clips.I orignially only had one frame my background frame and when testing I just press ctl+enter and bamm away it goes the actionscript runs as soon as the movie/game starts and ergo the game plays.My problem is this, I now want to have a start/home frame at the beginning (of course) which has the start game button on which when clicked THEN starts the game.Currently the game starts in the first frame along with the start button.How do I stop the game running straight away and my first frame only contains the start button, which when clicked then goes to the 2nd frame and starts the game?

View 1 RepliesI'm new to Flash and have the following problem: I've picked up a Flash project tat has an embedded .mov that I need to edit. I then need to save an .swf of my Flash project. I've edited to file in Premiere, but I can't import the new .mov file to Flash, only .flv. Saving as an .flv isn't a problem, but even when I import the .flv I still can't save to .swf because I get the following error:
WARNING: This movie uses features that are not supported in the Flash 6 player
Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:VP6 Codec requires Flash Player 8 or higher
I need to export my .swf with the embedded video file for Flash Player 6 (client agency requirement). How do I solve this?
I have a flash player which play mp3 files from xml. at now mp3 files are downloadable with software like internet download manager. if i move mp3 files to out of www and change xml location attribute to '../mp3filename.mp3' player can not play mp3. my question are
1) flash file can access files out of root folder
2) what is best way to protect files from download?
in older versions of flash player if I opened a swf file in a web page locally it would bring up a security settings box where I could allow files to play locally - but this doesn't seem to happen in flash player 11 - how do I enable my swfs to play locally?
View 3 RepliesI've recently encountered a problem whilst coding when trying to upload local files to flash. With Flash Player 10 you can use the following code to load local files into flash.
[code]...
This is not available in Flash Player 9 which is causing me issues as I only have a copy of CS3. All I need to do is retrieve a local jpg from the users computer and temporarily display it in my flash application. So to clarify, uploading to the server isn't required unless this is the only way to do this with Flash Player 9?
I have a question regarding httpstreaming we have fms running with multiple smaller mp4 files about 50 MB in size. When played they start playing immediatly but still are cached/downloaded in directory C:Documents and SettingsUsernameLocal SettingsTemp of the clients
Now we have issues with a large file of 890 MB, which is not being played, clients need to download this complete file to play it. Does the streamingpart doesn't work well on our server?
Please help since we getting a lot of complaints from viewers. Running FMS 4.0.3 on CENTOS 5.7 64 Bit
What can i check besides the forums regarding dynamic httpstreaming
Can Flash Player files contain link to internet URL? Please explain.

I am using a embeddable Flash based MP3 player (The standalone Version of Wordpress Audio Player, to be exact) to play audio on the web page of a client. Given the nature of Flash based players - AFAIK they all use Flash's audio/video decoding libraries - the exact player product might not matter, though. She complains that some specific audio files sometimes tend to play slowly, as if on a tape deck that doesn't run at full speed. Her machine is a 5 year old Sony Vaio with a 1.5 GhZ Pentium M Processor.
So it's not top of the line anymore but it should not have trouble decoding anything, let alone a MP3 audio stream. I can't verify the problem because we can't set up an audio connection (slow Internet on a remote island), nor can I reproduce it on my 3.3 GhZ dual-code Workstation, but this is a person whose error reports have seldom turned out unfounded in the past, so I tend to take them seriously. I see differences between the encodings of the MP3 files (see below). Any pointers towards which setting(s) to change?
This is what Winamp tells me about a file that is sometimes slow:
MPEG-1 Layer 3
128 Kbit, approx. 966 frames
48000Hz Stereo
CRC: Yes, Copyright: No
This is what Winamp tells me about a file that is never slow:
Encoder delay: 576, Zero Padding: 1584
MPEG-1 Layer 3
151 Kbit (VBR), 12405 Frames
44100Hz Joint Stereo
CRC: No, Copyright: No
Alright so I'm making a website for my friends band, and they want to have a music player to play their MP3's. One of the things I'm concerned about though, is the security of the MP3 files. Their albums are on iTunes to buy, so I'm looking for what the best option to have the MP3s be played but not be able to be downloaded and saved.The best thing I can think of is embedding the MP3's inside a Flash music player, but that would be more work than it's worth it seems.
View 2 RepliesI have a banner ad which contains an flv player. Due to size restrictions for banners at the site, I've found a player which I think will do the trick (chrometaphore). However, the site in question does not allow anything more than the actual swf for the ad, so I cannot include the com folder for the player and need to include all AS3 code in the swf file. I'm not a scripting genius, and wonder what it would take to include all the classes in the AS3 file contained in the swf. Is it possible? Does anyone know where I can find a VERY lightweight player whose entire code is contained in the fla?
[edit]: It just occurred to me that if the flv is on a remote server, could the com folder and files also be remote? Currently, the path for the com files looks like this:
import com.chrometaphore.display.video.colibri.Colibri;
import flash.media.SoundTransform;
What would that script look like if it was pointed to a remote com folder?
Read about saving files directly from flash player 10 recently. If I can pull this off then it will be a life saver with a project I am working on. I read a tutorial on [URL] But i am not able to understand fully what's going on there. For my project I allow users to drag and drop object around the stage and save the the whole thing as an image once they are done.

View 1 RepliesI'm new at AS3. I'm pretty good when it comes to PHP, MySQL or HTML but I'm totally lost in AS.I have a project in Flash Builder 4 that I'm trying to add something to that was built in Flash Professional. It's supposed to loas a couple of external AS files, then execute functions from them at a certain point in the application. I know where I want the functions to execute in the application, and I have linked the AS files to "test.as" which is the main AS file for "testapp.mxml". The problem is calling the "Detector" function from inside "FaceDetector.as" which is one of the external AS files. What is the best way to do the following.[code]I want to start the script and let it do what it's supposed to do inside the application at that given time.

View 3 RepliesI'm looking for a Flash video player that is able to stream m4v files on all browsers. Example file: [URL]
Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.
I would like to update the swf player that I specify into FDT and what Flash IDE uses to play files, namely from Flash 10 to Flash 11 for Stage3d preview. How does one do this?
View 2 RepliesI have a flash file located on a web server. When it's loaded, I want it to access the user's PC and display some data (such as file directories, files, etc)I know there are security rules about what a flash player can access, but so far all I can seem to find are rules regarding local flash players accessing the internet, but not much on the other way around, or how do go about doing that.
View 0 RepliesI am trying to parse a string. It involves a huge for loop.
Tried making livesdocs out of this but it failed. So I looked with google and found this.
Does any one know...how I could apply this to a huge for loop? Trying to parse multiple files without flash player freezing.
