I am writing to a text file via FileStream, and it writes just fine when I do a publish preview (control + Enter), but when I publish it as a projector and run the exe, it does not work.
My publish settings are set to
Player: Adobe AIR 1.5
Script: ActionScript 3.0
i made a simple nav bar with a dropdown menu it works fine in flash mode and preview but when i try to embed into html it only show the nav bar but not the dropdown menu.
View 4 RepliesIve made a movie that add strings from several input text fields to an array. This array is sent from the flash video to php. This is working fine when I preview the movie as Flash. The php script prints the variables as intended.
But when I preview it as html the arrays are all empty...

I am using a FLVPlayback to play a video on my project. Path to the video file is taken from xml file and loaded to FLVPlayback by action script, everything work properly in swf file.But when i publish this file and play as html, the movie never start. What can be wrong?
View 2 RepliesMy project won't allow me to preview or publish it anymore. It's about 10 megs and the swf was around 2 the last time I could check. It goes to the export/publish panel and the bar fills but then nothing. The application does not crash either and I can continue to work in it.
Other smaller files preview fine.
I could debug this? It's driving me crazy and I really can't afford to lose this project.
In frame one of "Scene 1" i have a movie clip that acts as a scrolling image banner, scene 1 is only 1 frame long and there is no scene 2 yet, or any other frames, But, when i preview, or publish, the scrolling image movie clip disappears, for like, no reason. theres no actionscript in any of the frames at all so that wouldnt be causing it somehow.

View 1 RepliesI have a flash document with only 1 scene, but several frames. On the first frame i have several buttons, their behavior is "button". I wrote a simple onRollover command on each one. Like this

It works fine when I test the movie, however, when I publish it, nothing happens when I rollover the button. I suppose there is a simple answer to this, but i just can't find it
I was wondering if it is possible to get my iphone app to preview in landscape mode without having to manually rotate it. I have it set to landscape mode with the landscape stage size, but it launches the preview in portrait mode.

I've been working on a AS3 script to control my FLVplayback component. I'm very close to making this work. Let me describe what I want to happen.On my homepage I have a DIV container where my video will be located. I want a still image of the video to load with a play button over it.Upon mouse over I want the button to change colors, upon mouse click I want the video to play.I have a .FLA project I'm working. I've got a FLVplayback component, sourced to my .flv. I've created a button and it works. When you click it the video plays.I have 3 layers.
actions (this is the top layer)
buttons (has a button and progress bar)
assets (only the FLVplayer)
The following AS3 is set to frame1 in the actions layer.
I'm using FlashCS4, AS3 and DreamweaverCS4
Here is the weird issue.
#1. While working in Flash.If I do a publish preview the play button with load for a split second and then disappear to be replaced by the still image.If you click on the center of the still image where the play button SHOULD be, the video will play.
#2.If I view this online.The play buttons NEVER disappear, however the still image NEVER loads.

View 1 RepliesI learned a few years ago on Actionscript 2 and I'm finding Actionscript 3 very confusing. I figured out (through much searching) how to write up a working (in theory) hyperlink script. When I open it up in preview mode, the link goes through (very slowly and doesn't come up in my default browser, but it works). When I try to work the link in Internet Explorer or Chrome (haven't tried firefox) nothing happens.

When I preview it out of Dreamweaver it works great in all browsers except IE; when I upload the .html file it is not working at all in no browsers.
So I continue to build my fractal animator, I'm already done with the spinning part, and it works well when I preview but when I publish, the images do not rotate at all. I am using an external class is that has anything to do with it.

I have created a rollover image in fireworks, which works in the preview option on fireworks.I have exported it as : html & images, exporting slices.This works when I open it straight from the file BUT when I try pasting it into dreamweaver (insert -> image: fireworks html) the box where the rollover image appears but with a cross in it.I have also tried copying the html from fireworks into dreamweaver but this doesn't work.When I try this the image appears and the link works BUT the rollover doesn't?This is the code I use:

I have a few words written in static text mode which I have made a graphic symbol. On the timeline I have used both motion tween and classic tween to create a aplha change from 0% to 100%.I made sure I have enoough space on my timeline (10 frames).The aplha tween works fine in preview mode however when I export the swf the aplha tween is no longer working? I have tried breaking the text,restarting flash,restarting my computer and similar suggestions from other blogs such as:
I was able to solve this by checking the box "Use runtime bitmap caching" under Blend in the properties panel for the MovieClip in question.I am currently using Flash CS5 on a imac.
I have a TileList of image thumbnails that pulls its image location and caption info from a remote XML file. when you click on a thumb it displays a larger image and changes when you click another image. it works perfectly inside Flash, but when i publish the images, xml, and swf, everything works except the thumbs do not display, and clicking an empty cell doesn't bring up the larger image. i first thought that maybe my xml file was in the wrong place, but since i am still getting 12 empty cells (12 images listed in the xml), i'm questioning whether its my xml code or my as3 code. getting no errors from flash because the entire swf functions as intended locally.

I have a flash project that I have been working on for a while, today its stopped functioning properly. To be clear. It still runs JUST FINE when I preview it (CTRL+ENTER), but when I publish the file and run the SWF file, or the HTML file the movie no longer functions properly. Specifically any ActionScript from the main timeline seems to no longer be functioning. ActionScript contained within movie clips continues to function properly, but nothing else.There is about 400 lines of code right now (variables, functions etc.)

While publishing my movies in CS4, I noticed that the javascript required to embed the movie in a web page was published as inline javascript in the published page. This means that code would be downloaded for each page my movie is on. Is it possible to configure Flash CS4 to publish that javascript to a separate .js file, instead of having to manually copy-paste that each time??
If no, I believe that js is independent of the Flash movie (please correct me, if I am wrong). So, can I copy-paste that javascript to an external file just once, and use the js file for all my movies being published??
I am new at flash CS4. (Upgraded to Flash CS 5 but this gives other problems in the meantime I continue with CS4)I have created webpage. Within the web page I have created Motion Tween with Motion editor and once previewed, it works fine. Going back to the stage and previewing the result shows the initial position of the Motion tween but it doesn't move and behave the way it shoud. What's missing? Where am I going wrong?
View 9 RepliesI purchased an elastic menu flash component that uses AS3. Unfortunately, I've only just waded into AS2.I'm trying to replace the generic colored background with an image that is masked. Unfortunately, turning the layer into a mask breaks the functionality. The weird thing is that it works fine in Test Mode (Ctrl+Enter) and if published as an EXE. It just doesn't work as an swf.Has anyone run into this weird inconsistency before? Also, what is the best way to get into that component and possibly modify it?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.
