In Java it can be done, but how can i pass any value to this class.My use case is that i click on a delete button and the row is deleted, impossible to do if i cannot access the parent DataGrid and call methods to work with it.
I am stuck in a problem working on Flex datagrid, in an AIR application. How can I access a specific row in datagrid in Flex. I am not talking about the selectedItem or any particular record of dataProvider of datagrid. What exactly I want to do is I am showing some files data (name, description etc.) on a datagrid, and the data of these files comes from an array which is the dataProvider of the datagrid. Now when these files are being uploaded one by one to the server (using a webservice), I want to show a ProgressBar on, say, "Progress" column in the datagrid. How can I access this column for a particular row in datagrid i.e. current file being uploaded.

The scene is simple: Library consists of the DataGrid component and one movie clip. In the movie clip is an instance of the DataGrid component with instance name playList. An instance of the movie clip is placed in the scene and the movie clip has been linked to the mp3Player class in the as file.
The mp3Player class is very simple. It contains a DataGrid variable playList and a constructor to initialize the DataGrid playList in the scene. What the constructor can do is e.g. playList._visible=false or playList.setStyle(...). But as soon as i start with playList.addColumn or playList.addItem it does not work..

I've got a Flex 3 application with an HTTPService returning an Atom feed. I catch the result from it and store it in an arrayCollection which is then the provider of my Datagrid. I have no problem accessing the data from the "first-level" of my Array, but cannot go under it. Not very clear, so here is some code:

The "title" column shows the data correctly, but the status column is empty ! When I launch my app in debug mode, I can see that my notesArray has the correct format and I can access todo -> status with the value..
I was wondering if anyone knew how to access column items...
ie if i made a column named "Info" and wanted to get the 5th item how would i go by doing so.. i though it was just an array something like this my_dg[Info][i] were i is the index counter.. but that wasn't it.. i can get it to display the column name but thats about[code]...
I'm trying to create a button that will simply link back to the context root. I noticed flex has a @ContextRoot attribute that appears to work only in certain cases. For example, if I try to use it in the following mxml:

I want to extend linkbutton to allow this. I wrote a class myself to allow html text for the label and that aspect of it works but now the background that appears when you hover is way too big. I tried to override measure() to fix this but I didn't have a clue how. Here is the class I wrote:

is there a way to span the text of a link button to 2 lines? so instead of "Save Page" to be in one line only, I want it to be in 2 lines.

my issue here is if you use this component you will see that the text is bunched up into a very small area. It does not fill the entire width of the linkButton.
There are styles for over and clicked but no up state.

(The mouseOver event seems relevant, and I do a noop() on that event, but my goal is to leave the style unchanged rather than do something specific.)

I have a DataGrid with Data. When i select the data in the Data grid, the focus is displayed in the canvas. In the canvas i have a chart component.so when i select the link data on the datagrid the focus should be in the chart component in the canvas.

I have a datagrid with some custom renderrers and I'm just curious how I should approach the ability to freeze and always show the left 3 most columns at all times when scrolling left/right.
I thought that I might have to resort to 2 datagrids, side-by-side, the first showing the 3 columns that I want at all times, and the ability to scroll the rest. Only issue then I guess is linking the row selection to select that row in both and to tie the column sorts together...
Or would it be better to try and take columns 4+ and shrink their width to 0 as a person scrolls right, and then increase it back to the max width as they scroll left? Though that would cause funny issues to happen as the content of the datagrid would get smaller and smaller until you were 100% to the right and the scrollbar would disappear.
I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?

Both have single columns. Selecting one item from Divsions datagrid should display members of that Division in the Members datagrid. But following code has some problem and Members of a particular division do not show up when respective Divsion is clicked.

For poor performance reasons, the DataGrid will cache checkboxes and reuse them for different rows. If you have 50 rows, it won't create 50 checkboxes. It will create as many checkboxes at are visible, plus a few more for padding, and then reuse them as you scroll. This is why you need to explicitly manage their state. How can improve it ? How can fixed checkbox value ? i used checkbox like below But checkbox doesnot remembering the values

I am attempting to style the headers in a flex datagrid and I keep getting the warning:

What does this mean? I have gone through a bunch of tutorials and none of them have worked. It seems like changing a the colors in a datagrid should be relatively simple.
