ActionScript 3.0 :: Auto-focus On Textbox On Enter Frame
Jul 31, 2009i want to autofocus on my textbox on enter frame. I tried this Selection.setFocus("textbox"); but nothing happens the textbox is not focused so i can write on it.

basically sending and recieving variables from a php page. I want to be able to specify what my textbox on frame 5 says in the onLoad statement. Is this possible?
Currently the only way I have been able to get the text to display is either to use the textbox variable and declare that in the onload statement, or to put textbox.text = mylogin.message; on the actual frame.I doubt there is a way to do it, because the actual textbox hasn't be created yet, but if there were a way, that would be nice.

However the "youranswer" variable is represented by the value in an input textbox and when I push enter, it just blanks it out and it never matches.
If I change it from Key.ENTER to Key.SHIFT, it works.

Maybe something like tabIndex.next? I know this doesn't work because I already tried it, but maybe something like it?
I have a series of dynamically generated textfield boxes that form a grid and I want users to enter a single character and then have the focus change to the next box. I have had all kinds of issues trying to reference the next textfield using the instance name I gave them when they are generated, so I thought if there was a way to just automatically go to the next item in the tabindex, that would be perfect.
Flex :: Keeping Focus On A Textbox When Clicking A Button
May 31, 2011I have a series of editable text areas in which I want to be able to add a variable on the click of a button.
If I click the button the textarea loses focus and so I cant code which textarea I need to add the variable into. Can anyone think of a way of keeping focus on the textbox, inserting the variable and then allowing the user to carry on typing.
I've been playing around with the setFocus function trying to get this to work with no success.
Here is a snippet of my code:

Jul 23, 2009I am a Flex newbie and I am testing a little application that simulates a cart. (It is based on a nice sample by Farata Systems' Yakov Fain).Note: I am using the beta of Flash Builder 4 to code the application.Here you have a link to the screenshot:Screenshot(Sorry I can't insert the image of the screenshot right here since stackoverflow doesn't allow new users to use image tags.)The application is very simple. You type a product in the TextInput control and then click on the "Add to cart" button to add it to the "cart" which is represented by the TextArea at the bottom.
That works ok.The problem is that I also want the user to be able to keep adding items to the cart without having to click on the "Add to cart" button. So, I added code to handle the enter event of the Textput by calling the same handler function triggered by the "Add to cart" Click event.If you type some content and then click the "Add to cart" button, the TextInput control receives the focus and the cursor, so you can type again.
However, if you hit enter, instead of clicking the button, the TextInput control keeps focused and you can see the cursor beam, but you can not enter text until you click elsewhere and come back to the control.Below you can see the relevant part of the code, with the definition of the component that groups the three controls at the top (Label, TextInput, Button).

I want to evaluate the answer when the user pushes the Enter key and respond by sending the movie to either the "Ne2C" frame or the "Ne2I" frame (for the response to the correct or incorrect answer).

Oct 5, 2011I am making a little banner for my site that makes different offers based on geo location (zipcode). I have the code working pretty much except for a few elements I want.
1) I want the input box to say "Enter Zip Code" until the user clicks on the input box. Then it clears out and the user can enter their zip code. The text box at this point should only take in 5 digits and no more.
2) Instead of having to click on the button to submit the form I want the user to also have an option just press enter when they are on the input text field and it process the form.
I am using Flash CS5 with AS2

Feb 20, 2009i've a problem with my setFocus. i will use [n] to identfy the line in the code. this is a MouseEvent.CLICK - function from an other dynamic,non-selectable textfield. the textfield in work is one with an embeded font and some text in it.if i use line [3], i'll get the no blinking courser and no possibility to enter some words. also if i mark some other and click after that in the input-textfield directly there will no courser anymore.but this only happens in the first time using the swf. if i first click into the input-textfield, then set the focus to something else and trying the steps i wrote over here, everything works fine.

This swf file is embedded in the index.html, and is to load my "main-html", when the animation is complete.To try and do this iv'e tried with the following code in a blank keyframe in my as3 code layer on the last frame of the animation: [code]Upon completed animation it just goes into a frantic loop which seems to be trying to connect to my "main.html", but never have a chance to completely connect before it tires again.I have used similar code for my buttons, inside the page itself, which works just fine.
