ActionScript 3.0 :: Change Name Property Of Root ?

Sep 8, 2009

So when you have a Document class, it is added as an object to the stage. If the equivalent of stage.getChildAt(0); is traced in any custom class linked to the Document class it will output the Document class (ex: GalleryDocument). If you trace it's name property like so stage.getChildAt(0).name; it will output root1.

Is it possible to assign a different name to the Document class or is there a limitation on changing the name property when it comes to the root object?

Flex :: Components Property Change Event

Sep 28, 2010

I have a custom component on which I have bound an array collection to one of its proeprties: <comp:MyComp id="comp" prop="{images}" /> images is an arraycollection In the components' code I would like to know which event to listen on everytime images updates props. I tried a setter on props but the setter only gets called once when props is first set. I tried the collection event but I get "Update" events sent on top of 'add' and 'remove' events and I would rather not have to manage those. So is there an event(flex or otherwise) that is fired every time a component property is updated by a bindable property?

Actionscript 3 :: Text Disappear When I Change Property

Oct 28, 2011

I have a dynamic textfield which seems normal with the text I set by Flash IDE, but it disappears when I change it's text property, programmatically.Except if I set the textfield to use no anti-aliasing (Bitmap text [no anti-alias]);

I don't know why that's happening, maybe it's because the font I'm using, (it's the Helvetica Neue, Black Condensed) or it is some Flash CS5 Bug.[code]...

Flex :: React To Change On A Static Property?

Jun 1, 2009

I'm re-writing an MXML item renderer in pure AS. A problem I can't seem to get past is how to have each item renderer react to a change on a static property on the item renderer class. In the MXML version, I have the following binding set up on the itemenderer:instanceProperty=callInstanceFunction(ItemRenderer.staticProperty)What would be the equivalent way of setting this up in AS (using BindingUtils, I assume)?PDATE:So I thought the following wasn't working, but it appears as if Flex is suppressing errors thrown in the instanceFunction, making it appear as if the binding itself is bad. indingUtils.bindSetter(instanceFunction, ItemRenderer, "staticProperty");However, when instanceFunction is called, already initialized variables on the given instance are all null, which was the cause of the errors referenced above.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [F5] Change The Property Of A Movie Clip

Apr 11, 2003

I am about to go crazy trying to change the property of a movie clip. Could someone tell me why this doesn't work:

movieheight = _root._level1.project._height
_root._level1.mytext = movieheight

-movieheight is a variable in the movie which has been loaded into level1. -project is a movie clip (I made sure I named it properly). -mytext is a text box in the main timeline of the movie in level1. (I set the variable to mytext for this box too). I have tried to use eval("_root._level1.project.height"), but nothing works - the movie's height never shows up in the text box. Debug > List Variables tells me that movieheight is "undefined".

Sep 30, 2010

On creation complete my parent component executes an "init" function which simply sets public bindable variables in child components. I'd like the child components to watch these variables and upon being set use them. However, for some reason the ChangeWatcher is not firing with the change of the variable. Below is my code;

Actionscript 3 :: Bindable Property Change Event In Flex?

Sep 20, 2011

I've got a component called Box.as that has following two properties, and have their getters & setters defined:

private var _busy:Boolean;
private var _errorMessage:String;

In MXML that uses this component I define it like this:

<components:Box skinClass="skins.components.BoxSkin"
busy="{presenter.boxBusy}"
errorMessage="{presenter.boxErrorMessage}"/>

Where presenter variable is defined here in MXML and a Presenter class has boxBusy and boxErrorMessage variables defined as bindable property change events:

[Bindable(event="propertyChange")]
function get boxBusy():Boolean;
function set boxBusy(value:Boolean):void;

[Code]....

PROBLEM is that whenever I change boxErrorMessage for the presenter, I see the affect in MXML but nothing happens at all when I change boxBusy. Is there something extra I need to do with boolean variable?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get Average Brightness Of A JPG Movieclip?

Feb 22, 2011

I was working on a project a few months ago, which I had to put on hold but am finally getting back to. One major feature I need that I wasn't able to figure out before was how to measure the average brightness of an image file loaded as a movieclip. I remember spending hours going through tutorials but I wasn't able to get it working. Now I don't even remember what or where I read before and I'm not keen on rereading all of it and still not knowing what to do.

I just want the simplest possible way to get an average brightness level of an image, I don't care which way the brightness is measured as it is only important relative to other images which will be measured the same way.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Brightness Slider Not Working?

Sep 6, 2011

I have a brightness file with 'actions' running error free....... But my final result won't do anything....

The file executes and the slider works but the picture doesn't get brighter or darker at all..

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.Sprite;
import fl.events.SliderEvent;
import flash.geom.ColorTransform;

[Code].....

I have imported all SliderEvents , ColorTransform, and Sprite events.. I defined each variable and gave both my 'image' and 'panel' their instance names.

My 'bValue' textfield has been given the instance name of 'bValue' .... here's the file to show you all what I mean.

What else do I need to do for this to actually do something??? I studied a little as3 in the past and learnt how to make mc's and that's about it...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Storing Brightness Value In Memory?

ActionScript Code:
var colorTransform:ColorTransform = new ColorTransform();
function Main():void

today I'm attempting to store the current value in my slider so I can trace the value...

How should I store the brightness value?? should I create a new variable such as

ActionScript Code:
Var:currentValue:colorTransform

I tried to do that and it just gave me 'null' when I traced it. I used trace(currentValue). and it gives me '0'. even when I go brighter!
