Can I contorl html events within a flash movie? If I have a small flash movie on my html page can a button in the SWF trigger an event? Perhaps goto to another html page or lauch another browser window?

In my case the problem is I have flash map, and drop down menu on top of it.
I simplified this into the following example:

If you mouseover any elements in gray box, you will see that stuff behind it, in a flash file, triggers hover effects.
If i have a html menu, how can i call events within a swf on the same page.?IS this done with java or php?exact example is being used hereclick the nav and see the flash banner change

The idea being that the flash movie will provide descriptions of the links when moused over, but if the user doesn't have flash the functionality isn't lost. View 1 RepliesI have an HTML document with a Flash object and an absolutely positioned HTML element above it. If I set the HTML element's opacity CSS property to any value less than 1, the Flash object (that is actually covered) receives mouse events. This problem cannot be reproduced with pure HTML elements. Furthermore, Flash only receives hover events, so I cannot click below the layer.I put a demonstration of the problem online.I get this behavior in Firefox 3.6, Safari 4.0 and Chrome 5.0 in both Mac and Windows. Flash plugin version 10 is installed.Is it a bug or the the normal and expected behavior? If the latter, then how can I prevent Flash receiving events when it is covered with a translucent layer?
View 5 RepliesWe've got a green screened video playing in a flash movie over top of our html content.when the movie ends, flash uses external interface .api to call a javascript function which swaps the flash movie out with a 5 x 5 pixel flash movie (rewrites the <div>).this works and you can interact with the html content after the flash movie in all browsers except firefox.anyone know of any work-arounds or is there a better way of handling flash over html in this fashion?
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if it is possible to create a flash movie that rotates values that are stored in HTML. For example if i have these 3 containers:

I want to have some flash movie rotate these values every 10 seconds. I don't want to program it hard into flash, it has to be variable. It has to display the first set, then after 10 sec the second, and so on.Maybe if it is possible something that stops the toggle, and skip to just the second, or just the third.I also don't want to use javascript to do this (jQuery etc.), because this conflicts with another timer on the website.Is there a way of doing this?

View 1 Repliesi am puttin together a calendar in flash, as it is ending up on a windows server in ASP, so the lovely PHP calendars wont work. I have been using the code from:[url]to get the months and days working, and have todays date highlighted. Now i need to work out a way that i can set this up to call a flash movie onto a higher level which contains the events of the day you click on. Such as: Because the dates are determined and inserted via AS, im not sure how to set this up, or if it is even possible...

Do addCallBack function only works in HTML onClick events or i m missing something. I mean the function i wrote on javascript. When i put the function in some other place it never works. But when i add a button via html and give this buttons onclick the call back function it works

I have a 100% flash site that I would like to layer a png logo above. I would like the logo to appear top left of the window at all times, above the flash movie.
I have looked online for hours and found wmode tips, etc but I'm a beginner coder and am unsure of how to piece it all together.
